I just bought one of these Vevor 15x15" clamshell models. It is excellent. I've been using 155degF for silver and bronze comics and getting fantastic results with all the other tips from Immaculate. Thanks.

I have had terrific results pressing at 165 for 15 minutes and leaving on the press for 24 hours. I do not use the silicone sheets between the magazine boards, and haven't had issues. Running three of these now with spectacular results. CBCS has 20% off right now. I expect to send in quite a few.

I would love to see you do an updated clean tic attack press video. I’ve watched most of your vids but they’re all years old. I’m sure you’ve learned things and do things better now. Would be great to see an updated start to finish on a book

I'll do it! Due to several popular requests I've been considering more short tutorials to accommodate today's shorter attention spans. I'm trying to build a series of 1 Minute tutorials. I have 506 videos posted now and I know its a mess and some of it is pretty old. I'll start culling the videos that are no longer relevant!

I've been using a clamshell press for years, but mine is so old i really should consider getting a new one but first I need to get a book press, I have a number of big little books that I would like to repair.

I was sort of in the same situation. My worked well enough but was Starting to show it's age with loose fittings and slightly bent pieces. It was also taking longer to come to temp so I figured I should either replace the element and reweld and repair it or just get a new one. I'm happy I got a new one

I recommend getting an IR temperature gun as well to figure out what the actual temperature of the press is. I got this press and mine is consistently running 15 degrees hotter than what the display indicates. Don't want to scorch your books 😂

That’s a good idea. I calibrated mine in the control setting with a FLIR camera. It look me a long time to figure it out but it works!

Hey rick. I just watched your video. I have a very similar press that i just got. I noticed it has a knob on it to apply pressure. About how much pressure do you apply by twisting the knob?

Hey marc! Actually I absolutely love this press. If there is any flaw at all I would say that its much easier than I would like to completely smach a book flat or pop a staple. The fulcrum arm makes it deceptively easy to press pretty hard. Otherwise, its been great!

@@ImmaculateComicsone more question- do you find this machine large enough for you to press two books at once? Do you ever utilize it that way?
@ImmaculateComics
@ImmaculateComics 9 ай бұрын
Hiya Marc, yeah I definitely use it to press two books simultaneously, and occasionally I can get a third in there if I do it right. However the edges are cooler than the center so when pressing two book you mic meet the spines in the center of the press. so this means one of the books must be "unpside down". if you can understand what I'm trying to convey!?!?
@marcloev2072
@marcloev2072 9 ай бұрын
@@ImmaculateComics yes I understand. Can fit two and suggesting placement as Spine to spine in center one flipped to achieve orientation. Thanks again

I just watched a video where the comic guy had like 6 presses, a couple of them able to fit 9 comics, and he bashed on T shirt presses. Assuming this is a T shirt press, what is your opinion on that? Also, I'm not able to save this video... is that something you did on your end?

There are four screws on the bottom of the press under the Matt. Kinda scared to try to press into them. Does yours have the screws too?

Mine does have those screws. However I use an Aluminum plate under by books in any case so I'm not sure concerned!

No backerboard in the middle? And why not? So only a backer after page 1?
@ImmaculateComics
@ImmaculateComics Жыл бұрын
I seldom (if ever just put a single backing board in the middle of a book. I will often put one under either cover, front and back but very rarely in the. middle. It is because I used very thick but chamfered boards that shape the spine edge of the cover when pressing.
