finally someone mentions how Breavely default 2 is so bare bones compared to 1, remember when the voices not overlapping and the wifi functionalities?

my favorite game i played from this year was defo neo twewy sequel to one of my favorite games ever, and one with pretty much the same quality in every aspect. with just as much charm as the og despite only being a couple months old, i love it so much as for favorite game i played this year that wasnt from 2021 definitely persona 3, amazing story, cast, and ending, with pretty good gameplay and a really good ost both i'd defo call masterpieces for me devil survivor overclocked and smtv also stand out, with desu:o being an amazing game with great story, cast, gameplay, pretty much everything and smtv being prolly the most fun i've had with a game with imo a pretty good story that has a lot of potential to be greater if expanded upon in a rerelease or sequel-type game. also very underrated game from this year was Gnosia which is a singleplayer werewolf,among us,etc. type game thats pretty fun with a really good story and very likeable and fun cast of characters. also sorry for the long comment didnt think id have much to say, merry new halloyear :)

Even if the story beats and character developments in P5S feels familiar I had an absolute blast playing the game and really enjoyed Zenkichi and Sophia. I also had a great time playing NEO:TWEWY and SMT V! I loved them a lot. I really wish I liked Bravely Default 2 more but I think it needed to be in the oven a bit more.

Funny story Bravely Default 2 made me so mad that when I found out this game had multiple endings I just dropped it and let the bad ending be the canon ending

A surprise hit for me (and many it seems) is the new Square Enix Guardians of the Galaxy game, I was really apprehensive due to the Avengers game being a failed GAAS with barely any worthwhile content and scummy monetization, but the GotG game turned out to be one of the best comic book games in recent memory and the story alone kinda rivals the movies and hell some of the characterization of characters are overall better than the movies if you ask me. Then there is also the use of music that is downright masterful (as long as you play it in non streamer mode) and the Deus Ex devs actually managed to incorporate some player choices that had effects on how the story went on and how certain characters percieved you. The only down sides really are the bugs and the fact that the combat is pretty repetetive if you ask me. Also I am so glad that we have a superhero game that actually has seperate credits for who designed each and every unlockable suit, its sad that creator credit is so rare in the comic book industry but I am glad that atleast one game does it and I hope future heavy weights like the Rocksteadt/WB Montral Batman games and Insomniac Spider-man games follow suite.

Neo TWEWY was incredible and has become one of my favourite games of all time. Easily my fave game of 2021, like 13 Sentinels was my fave game of 2020.

P5S’ plot is not a rehash (at least not completely). It’s just a surface-level interpretation at best and you proved that with your Kamoshida/Alice comparison. They’re both completely different characters, and the game goes out of its way to prove it. Yes, Ann is the focus in both arcs but it’s for different reasons. She was the target of a sexual predator in one, and she’s a healed survivor looking to save someone from going down a dark path in another. It’s pretty damn obvious that you’re going off of memory instead of what actually happened, and it’s a shame since Strikers does mostly feel like an evolution of P5. Also, Zenkichi’s arc is different enough from Dojima to stand on its own. Can’t speak for Sophia tho

My favourite games of 2021 were The World Ends With You Final Remix (which also became one of my Games of all time for me because it handled so much stuff unique and engaging while also making it an interesting game to play it in co-op and the story) and SMT5 was my other game of the year. It disappointed a bit cause it left me wondering how much more Atlus could have done (in terms of writing and on extra content)

it's interesting to hear your opinions about bravely default as a series. Personally I didn't like Second's story too much, Default 1's story was perfect to me, even the chapters everyone complains about because, for story and gameplay marriage reasons, I love it. And it really isn't tedious at all considering it's just visiting the four towers again, everything else is optional. The characters will always be nice tho. I hope I'll like Bravely 2, I was worried over what I've played feeling pretty boring yeah like you said.

I had a very similar idea, what with keeping track of every game I'd played whether its a new release, a game from my backlog or a game I'm replaying. I was gonna make a blog post with mini-reviews of each one ending with a top 10 list of my fav experiences I had that year regardless of if the game was actually from that year. 12:25 The lack of things brought back from the prior two Bravely games has me very concerned. Bravery Default 2 was one of the games I missed out on due to playing other things around the time it came out... now I'm somewhat glad I didn't pay up on release, but it's really sad if the game has devolved in odd ways considering how much potential this series has. Bravely Second is still one of my top ten games.

You know I have no beef with P5 Strikers being a rehash of P5, I just wish they were more honest about it. Like we don't need to call them jails, its ok they are palaces and the phantom theves are back, but on tour or something Easy

imo persona 5 strikers might be the worst game I'vd ever played. The combat is so bad since your combos are so weak and enemy damage is so high, on top of that every single boss can be exploited by just spamming spells and chugging the mountain of SP items the game throws at you
