I looked this up because i heard the Willowbrook Ave. road got flooded out and closed down yesterday. Anyway, I used to go to this mall pretty often when I was out visiting my dad and stepmother in NJ nearby for years in the 80s, 1981-87 or so. Was the nearest and largest mall near them to go to. Loved the game room, I recall sitting there playing games like Vanguard or whatever there, MIssile Command, etc. The mall also had like three bookstores then, record store, a strategy game store, all kinds of other stuff. I recall even buying the newly minted Pink Floyd: The Wall movie novel (sic) when it came out in 1982, here. Also came here specifically the day The Final Cut came out, 1983, to buy the cassette of the album. At Sam Goodys/Coconuts or whatever the record store here was. I also recall being in there a year later, shopping for music one day, and some teenager was trying out a synth. keyboard they had for sale, playing the riff from Van Halen's Jump to the song, over and over! LOL A goof. I don't recall it having a real food court back then. Sometimes we'd go to Wayne Mall (the small one) because the store my dad and stepmom worked at Meyer Brothers, was also there. They were based in Paterson, if anybody even remembers that store. I know North NJ very well, considering how much time I spent there on weekends and holidays. Paterson was beat but the store they worked at was cool. Passaic was beat, too, minus the great Passaic Book Center, which is long gone now. I even remember some clothing store here selling tons of trendy "skinny new wave ties", I think I bought a few of those. LOL

I spent plenty of time in this mall. As a child and then as an adult when I worked at a few stores there. I am amazed at how busy it was and you posted this 3 days ago. If you go into Rockaway Townsquare Mall it is a ghost town. Echo chamber. Half the store fronts are empty. I was in there the week before school started. That place should’ve been packed. Not a soul around. Nice to see Willowbrooks food court busy as well. I stopped going down to Willowbrook because I didnt feel safe in the parking lots. I did however hit the towne center shopping center in early summer. I remember that mall as the West Belt Mall when I was a kid.

Lived in Rockaway mall Friday night and Saturday night during the 80's. The two movie theaters. Now I haven't had been there in years, not even sure what stores are even in the mall anymore.

I’m from Paterson and spent many Friday & Saturday nights there from the mid 80’s to the early 90’s , lived at Fun & Games and in the Sears Auto parking lot. Walking the mall , chasing girls and drinking beers , collecting money for a keg party later on that night at my buddy’s house. The mall has changed so much , haven’t been in there in a few yrs. The last time I was there 6-7 years ago a buddy from Cedar Grove’s punk rock band played in the men’s dept in Macys. Shame not one store in the mall left from back then. Where did my youth go ? and how did I get this old 😂😂

I miss some of the diners in NE NJ even more, honestly. The Tick Tock Diner is still there in Clifton, I was there 2x about eight years ago again, still pretty good!

Fun and games was the game room, was there until at least 1995. I used to go back and take my kids . I came back again in the 2000s, I didn’t like anything they had done to the mall, fountain was gone,it was all painted stark white.I could name all the stores that were once there in the 70s. The Dayi was there the mall was empty, no people at all. It’s good to see that people are going there. I miss the way it was.

I just went to Smith Haven Mall on LI here, they have a real GO game store, not in the aisle, for some stupid reason the other malls on LI don't have it. Roosevelt Field Mall sucks now. Tons of crime every single day there. I got a Lord of the Rings card game at GO for $9, on sale.
