"Temperature" is more important than "oxygen" for microbes. Even if it is not a container with good air permeability such as cardboard compost, the temperature will rise if it is a “container with a space only at the top” such as a clothes case or storage box. On the contrary, it is easier and far more manageable than corrugated cardboard compost and can maintain higher temperatures. You can also perfect insect protection. Of course, no processing is required on the container.
⭐️ Necessary things ⭐️
① Costume cases and storage boxes (things sleeping in the closet are ok)
② Rice bran with a volume of more than half of the container (can be obtained free of charge at the coin mill)
③Laundry net that is equal to or larger than the area of the container (You can buy it at 100 yen)
④ Newspaper that has been shredded through a shredder (even a manual shredder is ok)
⑤ Rod-shaped thermometer (100 can be bought)
⑥ Futon storage bag large enough to cover the container (available for 100 yen)
⑦ Insulation material such as blanket (even if a cardboard is attached)
‥
① Add two-thirds of the rice bran to the container, add water, squeeze it into a lump, and grab it until it is crumbled. (2) Fill the laundry net with the shredded newspaper and make a multi. ③ Insert the thermometer. ④ Wrap the container with a blanket. ⑤ Finally cover with a futon storage bag.
Put it in direct sunlight or in a warm place. Hopefully it will be over 40 degrees on the next day, so you can put raw garbage into the sug without draining it or making it fine.
In this video, 100% rice bran is used as the base material, but peat moss and rice husk kuntan are mixed in a ratio of 3:2, added to two-thirds of the container, and water is added to familiarize it. It can be substituted by adding rice bran 400g (in case of 40 liter storage case)
When using peat moss and rice husk kuntan, the temperature does not rise as much as rice bran, but compared to when using rice bran, it is possible to suppress most of the odor (when using only rice bran, it gradually becomes miso or natto).
Basically, this compost does not require any action such as “draining the raw garbage. Drying the raw garbage. Making the raw garbage fine...”.
It is raw garbage that is generated every day. I don't think there is any point in composting if it's not possible even for people who are crazy.
