You've heard a deathcore vocalist do a pig squeal over blast-beats, but have you actually ever heard a real pig squeal over blast-beats? Would you be able to spot the difference? That's the challenge we posed to Jinjer vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk - one of modern metal's fiercest vocalists - in a game we call Man or Beast. Can this veteran screamer identify whether the vocal she's hearing is Deicide's Glen Benton or a deadly bear? A hellish human a howler monkey? Watch now to see how many Shmayluk got right - and which ones she got wrong. And be sure to let us know your score in the comments!
Backing tracks by White Bat Audio, R H, Dismentopia, JM Recordings and anders.

@@sebastianvine9202 oh yeah, Jinjer is inspired by a whole bunch of influences, before Jinjer, Tati was in a hardcore/reggae crossover band. but more than just her have said this, a lot of extreme metal musicians listen to much more than just metal, maybe they did when younger, but like the other guy said, its like taking work home.

Just how the vocals and the instrumentals interact on a musical shows you which one is an animal. Got every one of these correct just because of the mixes and this interaction. I know little about vocals themselves (because I rarely listen especially for them) but I've listened to heavy music quite a large part of my life and am a metal musician myself, so I'd say my musical intuition is quite useful (as this video shows aswell) Addendum: The parrot was a little hiccup for me because the music wasn't added by someone from revolver but an actually produced song

@@joshmurrietta2563 I'll add a fun story: Back in 2000, I was working in a department store, consumer electronics area. There was this beautiful girl I was drooling for, she worked for Philips. One day I thought "I'll show her the Fantomas cd I just bought". I went to the Philips boot and played Page 23 for her, I was ecstatic. Turns out she was a Witness of Jehova, which is a very "everything is satanic" religion. She hated the music, her attitude towards me took a 180 turn and barely talked to me again. Ooooh man, 22 years have passed and I still regret that.

I was surprised when she didn’t get wills voice lol. She seems like such amazing person. So funny and relaxed at the same time. Someone you could just chill with
