I purchased this motor from our local hobby store years ago, installed it into one of my R/C trucks and had fun, all of a sudden ...... POOF!!!! It burned out, so i thought to my self, why not fix it.... So after reading a bit on the internet before atempting this endevor, i got down to it... And blammo it worked. Better than the original motor , i was happy and sticky from the fiberglass resin i purchased from canadian tire, i think . O. Happy days are here again. For thoes who do this type of repair, its not critical on the fiberglass resin type , its only used to coat the winding to provide an insulation barrier and keep the wires from moving.

Very simple and direct. Well done. Thank you. Next time, please add details like the kind of resin you use, the length and diameter of the wire. The Penn and Teller was a nice touch. :)

just copy the specs of the original winding for length
@tracar14 жыл бұрын
OK, High heat epoxy is used to coat the metal as an insulation, so at the point of actually winding it the wire insulation does not get scratched off and ground out .. the windings wire used can be anything, i just copied the original length, and total diameter of the original..... it was easier to twist them together as this made it easier to rewind it... were only rewinding so there is no need for balancing the motor. i still use this motor today :)

Most brushless motors end in a .5 winding as the coil starts and ends on the opposite side of the arm. Yes you can wind a 17.5 with any wire you can find that fits in the atrea, also look at the ohms / resistance per wind and see if the esc can handle what you intend to create.

Great video! How does it change the properties of the motor to combine and twist the wires together? It seems 10 short wires rather than 1 long wire will have a significant effect. Higher current / RPM and less torque? I really do like the idea of wrapping multiple wires at one time! Thanks in advance!

Ironically, I bought a super-cheap, but essentially useless, 3.5-turn Swift motor (10,000kV) which looks exactly like the one you're rewinding! I'd like to rewind it to 21.5T or thereabouts for stock 540 performance, but do you have any idea if it's a single-strand on a 21.5T motor? Also, it's not super-clear, but on your motor does each 5x strand go around each armature pole, or do they "criss-cross"? Thanks!

@tracar17 жыл бұрын
I used a knife blade to scrape off the coating, then a really hot soldering iron to tin the ends, you have to use an acid flux. Then later alcohol will clean the acid flux off.

@popwall42974 жыл бұрын
Z.A.K. RC you can change RPM by the length of wire used are the diameter of the wire used this is very important anytime you going to rewind a motor Count the turns of wire as you take them off and write it down somewhere so you put back exactly the same amount unless you're using a different size wire

i have a table saw motor, the grooves on the inside of the stator, mine are ruined, almost slick as glass, motor overheated, got so hot almost melted the coils, carbonized the wood that got in between the armature and stator, and sanded the grooves on one side almost slick, melted the thin sheet plasic insulators that wrapped the sides of the coils, complete burnout. cant find the exact replacemenat motor, and they dont make parts for it, i called kobalt, no parts or motor available, if warranty is up, throw it away, their exact phrase, im gonna try rewinding it, but i noticed on one side of thecoils, there are no more grooves, how does that effect it, i know juice has to flow thru there, and the grooves get shallower and deeper depending on the distance from the armature, by reading, i gather they are slightly out of round, like i said i read where the grooves get deeper and shallower, but how will it effect its performance?, is there any hope? or is it a complete waste??
