Tips for Embellishing a Dance Costume:
Prepare your design and assemble your materials ahead of time, including how many rhinestones you are going to need.
Separate layers with cardboard, wax paper, or a clean garbage bag to cut down on mess!
Helpful tools include:
Fine Tip Syringe, especially when working with thicker glues
Pick-Me-Up Wax Tool to grab rhinestones precisely
Don’t be discouraged if this is your first! It takes practice, but you’ll get it down before you know it.
Garment Care:
If your garment can be washed, pre-wash it before beginning your project.
When washing your garment, use the gentle setting and turn the garment inside out to prevent scratches.
Always air dry your garment.
Cover your garment during transport

we used jewel it to affix crystals to mesh. what is the tip to loosen the material and glue from the wax paper surface?

What do you think of using hotfix stones?

Firstly, thank you so much for such a great tutorial! I am just learning to rhinestone ballroom dance stretch fabrics and shoes, and I seem to be having a difficult time with rhinestone shedding. I used E6000 to glue my stones to my shoes, but they are coming off. The stones are hotfix, but the ones I applied using a hotfix tool were the first to come off. To apply the stones, I used the E6000 in a syringe purchased from your store, squeezed a SS12-sized drop of glue on the shoe, and placed the SS16 rhinestones directly on top, then allowed overnight to dry. I am also having this problem on some lace applique, though not quite as bad as with my shoes. Any suggestions or tips?

Try using GemTac instead of E6000.

Funny thing, I keep hearing that E6000 has a bad smell but it smells neutral to me… I have quite sharp sense of smell otherwise. It’s quite puzzling to me, especially since I use it quite often.

Excellent information for anyone interested in decorating with rhinestones. I am wondering if you can hotfix rhinestones onto stretch materials? I have not done any rhinestone crafts but have an idea in mind and wondering what the best and most secure method is. Thank you

I was told not to hotfix them and to stick to glue ... E600 is the most secure method by far

D I V A Kingsley I use plastic cutting boards from the dollar store. Plastic pop bottles are great for sleeves.

Yes. E6000 do a glue called Fabrifuse, which is great for attaching fabric to fabric.

@rhinestonesunlimited what do you do when the fabric used is mesh and then the E6000 glue gets on the other side of the mesh underneath, thereby sticking to the work surface that the mesh fabric is on? How do you prevent the glue from coming out to the other side and sticking down?

E 6000 is washable, after just few washes the stones fall off. Any other non washable glue ? Thanks.

We always recommend hand washing with cool water. That typically has the best results with E6000. Gem-Tac is another option and Supertite Fabric Tack.
