Thanks so much for posting "Rhoda"! I love this show! I remember this episode from the first time I saw it. One of my faves. We've all been on one of these dates. It's a tossup for me which of two blind dates ranks as the worst ever. I can't decide if it was with the guy who called me "Leetle One" all evening in lieu of my name, or if it was the guy who asked me back to his place after our FIRST date and, when I refused, said "But, you're missing the best part". I seriously doubt that. Both of these jerks called me for second dates. As if.

Sure is nice to see people use those old phones and not cellphones.Partly what's nice about watching shows made before 2000 is there's no obsessions with computers or smartphones, as no one had them.I enjoy those things, but it's sometimes tiresome to see a phone in almost everyone's hand.

Rhoda should have gotten up & walked out on that guy WAY sooner than she did. He insulted her repeatedly and instead of leaving, she agrees to dance with him? Seriously? I lost track of how many times he said mean insults to her before she finally gets tired of the abuse & leaves. Rhoda is a strong, sassy woman so it was completely out of her character to have her tolerate that guy's verbal abuse for as long as she did in that restaurant.

That Steve Miller was creepy, and an idiot. He had some nerve, saying he was upset when he had met Rhoda for their first date. Rhoda should have told him off and left during the start of their second date. "Steve" is a very common first name, and "Miller" is as common a last name as "Jones", so naturally there are thousands of Steve Millers. Looks are not everything, but that guy was a creep.

I never believed Rhoda as fat. In any case, before Twiggy, it was the skinny girls who couldn't get dates. Also, they made use of what I consider a classic tv sitcom cop-out; she's overcome her aversion to dating an ugly man, but then is let off the hook by the writers who immediately make him so obnoxious, the audience won't blame Rhoda for dumping him. I still love the show, but some of these later episodes were really going for some cheap laughs and sentiment at the expense of reality-grounded comedy with real heart, which is what this show had at its best.
@eloiseockert65613 жыл бұрын
Rhoda was fat. I think her weight loss was one of the reasons the writers felt it would be better to have her be single on the show. From my understanding she used Slimfast then helped Julie with the same regimen.
