When I was a child and teenager, during the 1960's & 1970's, most women over age 60 used those purses like Ida has, most were black or white, and made of vinyl. Women back then called them pocket books...I never knew why. My grandma had a black one, and called it a pocket book. Not all men want to 'find themselves'. In fact, I never knew any man who went through that.

Yeah, this was the low point of all the show’s season. After season 3, the show focused more on drama, anger and hurt, than great comedy.... but what a great cast of seasoned comedic actors. They made even a dull episode special. Love them all. Rhoda, Ida and Brenda. Iconic TV characters.

I'm not sure I could take my husband back after leaving so abruptly without any warning because he had some oats to sow. If I did I know I wouldn't trust him like before he left. I like how she wanted to be courted, he had to win her back.

He was clear, he was honest, he explained why he was leaving, he explained why he didn’t tell her in advance of him leaving because she would have talked him out of it. He left her financial provisions, he kept in regular contact, and verbally expressed how much he loved her, this was about his need to take solo time having a radically different life experience. Rhoda and Brenda get it. I understand why they weren’t mad at their father. They empathize with Martin because…Ida is IDA. That said, hell yeah you’re going to court me back. I would forgive, of course. Not business as usual after leaving, never that. We need to relearn eachother.

Oddly enough, Aunt Rose was mentioned in numerous episodes of "Rhoda", but only ever seen in the MTM episode "Rhoda's Sister Gets Married", played by Brett Somers. As great as Brett was, I guess they just never wrote anything for her on "Rhoda." Probably she was too busy over at "Match Game."

Have you ever known a loving husband leave his wife without warning to "find himself" indefinitely many many miles away and expect it to be alright coming home maybe soon, maybe later....what a stupid concept! So obviously a desperate idea to fill in time while the actor's not available. If the actor was under contract in another production then ok, but they could've come up with something more feasible surely....oddly enough, going to prison for a crime he didn't commit would've been more believable. Or maybe visiting a distant relative in a different country and losing his passport. Or how about getting stuck in quarantine on a boat coming back? Or even being put in an asylum!! ANYTHING instead of 'I just fancy a change, darling, without you...bye!!!" (do they think we're dumb or something??) Other than that, it's still one of the most entertaining sitcoms ever and a great distraction from the woes of the world in 2020.

It's very Jewish for a Jewish man to run off y join the circus. It's rather heartwarming because back then parents were loved y respected. Today their usually pushed onto the fire escape y the screws are generally pulled from the iron. I'm getting up in years y I'm in a co owner Jewish nursing home. They love me so much, as my father was the Jew in our family y not mother, that they took the screws out of one side of my headboard. I was showered in ice cold water last night by an Asian woman y got in a Laos lesson. Óscar Schindler treated the gentiles better than i as a fellow Jewess by 'my own'. A chimpanzee is very far from what why thoughts were of this NY owner last night, with an already 2 FBI raids already under his belt, y much more including 11 deaths of children in his other facilities y still even more. Leominster housing y rehabilitation center sends their love y gratitude. 🇮🇱

Man, she was super kind to say that he went prison. I would have said that he joined a gay retreat to find himself y mailed myself photos accidentally dropping them open in the neighbour's presence. If she wanted the jail story to stick, i could have worked that angle well. Big time! Walking out on your own wife is acceptable!

Rhoda's hair is absolutely hideous, but not as hideous as this storyline. I wanted Ida to tell Martin to shove it for leaving her, and live happily ever after with the handsome doctor she dated a couple of episodes ago.

BettinaBalser based on your picture, your hair looks pretty hideous as well. Plus you’re not all that pretty. I really wouldn’t judge other people when you apparently need a ton of plastic surgery and a complete makeover. But more importantly, the show was filmed in the 1970s. The sky was completely different. Move on and focus on yourself. You’re going to need a lot of focusing.

Season 5 was ranked 95 so the show wasn’t as good as the first couple. I personally think that the Rhoda character was perfect as a supporting character on Mary Tyler Moore show. Rhoda as a central character is overpowering and the constant self deprecating and self doubting gets tiring. Brenda’s whining throughout the series gets old as well.
