I love this segment. I've noticed that people don't care about making the bigger, thinner tie the same length. It takes me a little longer to tie my ties, but the front and back tie have to be the same length for me. Maybe it's OCD:) Great Job, Sir.
@rhodeswood551314 күн бұрын
Thank you … I think it depends on how tall you are too. There is a following for having the rear blade longer and visible to the side of the front blade. Good to see a tie!👔🤝

I like the four in hand but damn that full Windsor was super clean

I just like the symmetry of the full Windsor but you're right - it is almost too good at shortening your tie!

My father taught me to tie what you call a Windsor when I was five or six years old. He told me that knowing how to tie a man’s tie is a necessary skill for a girl lol. It did come in handy many times in my life. The first three you’ve shown are the ones I go to for my husband and son, but I love the Prince Albert, I do think it’ll be great for a young man.

Don't mean to sound negative, but the Prince Albert just looks "scruffy ", and is definitely not for me. Admittedly, as I'm of the "older" generation, the Windsor is my knot of choice. Thanks for sharing.

I think the knot you choose depends a lot on the spread of the collar. Wide spread collar needs a fuller knot. Just my opinion…

Great tutorial ! I generally use a 4 in hand. And now and again a half winsor. oddly, I use a winsor when wearing a three piece suit or a vest, so the point of tie is concealed. ❤

I learned to tie on my own, practicing from my dad ties, which he didn’t real use, he loved bow ties😂. As a girl this helped me and I thought my sons.. now to teach them Princess Albert😊 Your teaching is great. I knew 3 besides the price Albert.. He called the ties hangmans😂.. due to the fact at the mortuary they always received bodies hung by ties 😂😅

The Shelby (or Pratt) is a symmetrical knot, similar to the Windsor, but not as bulky (which can be uncomfortable). It gives you a neat, well-groomed look.

Greetings! Since my dad taught me the Windsor (school and church as a boy), it has sentimental value. Four in hand and double four in hand, complete the trio of knots in my arsenal. Which one I choose depends on the tie and my mood.

How interesting, to me, a Prince Albert is a watch chain that goes from a mid button on the vest and into the pocket watch in the vest pocket. A chain that goes from the button hole to each side, a watch in one and maybe a silver match box or pibe tool in the other side pocket, is thus a Double Prince Albert. And then ofcourse, there is the modern use of the term for body piercings, which I shall refrain from describing here. The guy must have been quite the dapper fellow, giving his name to all sorts of things :)

I personally the first and 3 way to do a tie. I think it gives the biggest oomph to your tie. If you are wearing a tie, make it stand out.

Just subscribed to your excellent channel. Great little tutorial - thank you. I mostly prefer the classic four-in-hand myself (occasionally the half or full Windsor when wearing a spread collar). If I may ask: what line(s) of fragrances do you carry at your shoppe? I’ve been admiring the bottles in the background but can’t quite make them out.

The symmetry of a windsor is nice but the width and shortening of it throws it off for me.. Too much symmetry in one place can also highlight dissymmetry in another (like the face!) and that’s not good 😊

Your advice is excellent although I don't put a crease in the top of a shirt cuff but roll them on my knee as you do the collar. The wearing of ties is fast disappearing except for smart occasions and the level of clothes care you practise may well not be followed by the younger men. I am a former valet and am completely familiar with your sense of taste and style - it will get you anywhere. Four in hand every time! Hope to pop in when in Harrogate. Roger

What’s the verdict on matching ties and pocket squares?
@rhodeswood55132 ай бұрын
Whilst I’m wearing such at the beginning of the video ( in a small spot) .. generally I would match them, but pick up a colour in a different pattern…. Spots, for me is an exception but still a bit ‘matchy matchy’ 🤝

What would you recommend for people with 22 inch necks. Even with the four in hand, my rear blade is only about 3 inches long. The half or full Windsor would be nigh on impossible. Are there extra long ties available?
@rhodeswood55132 ай бұрын
Ties can be made for you. I’m sure there will be tie makers who can make a longer length. We can only make in twos from limited silks. Someone like E Marinella that specialises in making individual ties. Alternatively I would have though a store in The US may cater for a longer tie🤝

Would it be fair to say that the more 'cutaway' the collar, the wider the tie knot should be? Really enjoy your videos btw!
@mrjakobt2 ай бұрын
That‘s a general rule, but rules are meant to be broken. I personally think a four on hand works fine with a cutaway, but a Windsor doesn’t work with a point collar.

The four in hand knot looks unfinished with a dimple. The best looking knot with a spread collar like yours is the Windsor no dimple. Everyone has a different view,when i see a four in hand knot i assume the person got up late and didn’t look in the mirror.

The full Windsor is definitely more balanced and symmetrical but it's a bulky little so and so, needs the correct collar to carry it off obviously. The Prince Albert, in my humble opinion, just looks untidy 😂 Great video though. Thanks.
