Rhythm Changes Etude #3, by Randy Hunter at beginningsax.com, is the third of 4 etudes based on the popular George Gerswin chord changes to the tune, I Got Rhythm. The etudes are used to demonstrate the value of writing etudes based on concepts you are learning in the practice room.
In this one I give an overview of the concepts covered and the process of writing the etudes in the series
If you have not already checked out Rhythm Changes Etudes #1 & 2, here are links to them:
Etude 1- • Rhythm Changes Etude 1...
Etude 2: • Rhythm Changes Etude 2...
This one builds on the concepts used in the previous etudes by adding flat 9's on the dominant chords and pentatonic scales on the A section. Bebop scale passing tones are included on the B section (bridge).
In-depth studies on these concepts can be found in my jazz improvisation lesson series.
