Great video! I am a tool and die maker almost at retirement age, but one who has wished forever that I knew how to scrape. I'm so excited to find these videos! Retirement may have to wait!

Mattias, wonderful video..! I haven't tackled scrapping as of yet (not like I don't have a LOT of machines that need it...!), but was inspired by your video. My tired old Colchester MK1 is the most in need. However, since it still hogs off 30 thou at a pass, it may be a while before I get around to it..... Please keep up the great vid's. Cheers from Canada.....

Hi Mattias ! I remember the invitation from Lauritz Saxtrup to join the class and now I see the result, I regret I wasn't there ;-(( ... even though I think it's a little over my level ;-)) But a very informative video showing all the equipment needed for doing the scraping job right - long to see more from your shop !

Thank you Mattias, Very interesting. I am following closely. I tried to buy a Biax scraper here in South Africa but they are scary expensive. Thank you for sharing this.

t the request of Abom79....he recommended that his viewers check out your channel.....I also watched your grinding of the dead center, and really liked it being I just acquired a KO Lee Tool Grinder....appears to be a useful machine, and think I am going to like the addition to my shop. Lucky for you, you have access to all the super precision Sweden machines! I was already familiar with the Abene mill....they seem like a great machine.....going to like your channel!....keep up the good work!

Hi Mattias. I am new to your videos. I checked you out on the recommendation of Atom Booth, as I think highly of him. Wow was he right, you have some interesting projects and description videos. I just subscribed, and am excited to watch more of your existing videos, and look forward to new ones as well. I live in the US in North Carolina. I enjoy watching European videos on machining and machinery, but most of them either don't speak English, or it is very poor. Fortunately your English is excellent, and you seem to be knowledgeable. Cheers, Jarret Hall

Thanks for the comment! I know I don't upload as much as the professionals who do metalworking for a living, but I try to upload interesting stuff, edited, in focus and with good sound. I'm glad you like my videos, I hope to upload more soon! /Mattias

Thanks Very very interesting. I seen my Dad do some scraping and also watched a old "mentor' of mine (when I was 18 years old working in a nuclear speck machine shop) do it around 1976... What is the "bluing liquid you are using" is it "diluted" DYKAM or ? Thanks Brian
@DrMerkwurdig
@DrMerkwurdig 10 жыл бұрын
The dye is specifically made for scraping, we used the "Canode" brand during the classes. It works well and it's water based so it washes off pretty easily. I've also tried the "Diamant" brand, it also works well for marking up the surface but it's way more difficult to get it off your hands when done scraping.

I'll have to look at the vice tomorrow and see if there's any makers mark, I can't remember where I bought it. One thing I'd like to point out is that its all cast aluminum so not the best.
@465maltbie
@465maltbie 10 жыл бұрын
Lauritz Saxtrup I understand about the aluminum, still an interesting design and one to set aside for possible use in the future. I like to bookmark and save photos of things like that, you never know when it might come in handy.
