I actually met her back in the early '80s. I worked at a prime rib house and she was seated in my section. I told her I recognized her and that I enjoy listening to her music. When it came time for dessert, she asked me if I've ever had authentic New York cheesecake. When I told her I hadn't, she wrote down the recipe for me. I made the cheesecake within a few days of that interaction and I have to say it was awesome. Really nice person 👍

So easy to take for granted all the songs like this that we heard on the radio all the time, the songs we grew up with, and to assume that everyone must have heard them. I first saw Rickie on Saturday Night Live. I think she did Chuck E and Coolsville. The radio did occasionally play Easy Money and Danny's All Star Joint for a very short time. I bought the album on vinyl back the. Danny's is my favorite song with that boogie back beat and those hits... from your matzo ball(BAM) to the (Bam)chicken in a pot. Top notch session guys on the horns, drums, keys. My next favorite song on this album is Easy Money. Like Danny's it paints a picture so thoroughly it feels like you're there. Every time I load my dishwasher and flip around the magnet that says DIRTY / CLEAN - I think of this song. It's not because I'm dirty it's not because I'm clean.... one of the greatest debut albums of all time.

Oh, Man! You just opened up a nice can of great memories - and this is her debut album, which you gotta hear the whole thing! That band is comprised of the best musicians available back in the day, best producer/arrangement (if I had the album I could read it off). Find "Chuck E's In Love", "Weasel and The White Boys Cool", "Young Blood", "Last Chance Texaco", "Night Train" on it. 1980-'84 I was a Long Haul truck driver - and nothing beats good weather, clear traffic and great music driving coast to coast - my Best Cassettes were this album 'Rickie Lee Jones', 'Aja' (Steely Dan), 'A New Life' by Marshall Tucker Band, Jethro Tull's 'Living In The Past' double album, and Joni Mitchell's 'Hejira' album (featuring Jaco Pastorius playing the Cooolest bass guitar you'll ever hear!).

It's great to hear someone as young and smart as you are react to the music of my twenties and thirties, being basically an old hippie. You seem to comment on Nuance within music that the other reaction channels leave out. Like that Nuance you point out in Steely Dan. I like the fact you are educated enough to know it when you hear it. And I love the fact that you do not pause your songs and wait till the end. Please keep up the good work.
