@@AtmxDawg24 I know that if you're in a profession where close-in fighting (often with larger foes, since Robin is a teenager) is common, you should expect to get thrown on the concrete or asphalt from time to time. And if your legs aren't protected, you'll be out of action for weeks while they heal up. Say what you want about Catwoman, she plans for the worst. By using a whip (which is useless in untrained hands) she ensures that if a larger stronger male opponent takes her weapon away, he almost certainly won't be able to use it against her.

Yeah, I think he's stretching things here. The texture patterns looks a bit different also. Perhaps, it was the same suit, but could just be a odd coincidence as well. Still interesting. Would have to hear from someone in the know on this one...but don't think any are still with us here. Although I though Batgirl "ruined" the show, I do like the way the writers kept here to business and not mush, and I liked the way Yvonne played the role.

linda gaye scott was 5’6” while yvonne craig was 5’4”. it was more likely the wardrobe dept had the same fabric onhand. back when sewing was more of a thing, you can make custom patterns tailored to specific bpdy types. it is more likely they used the same pattern and fabric for both actresses that was custom sewn for each of them. you also normally have more than one outfit made especially for the main characters of a show. batgirl’s outfit was a precise cut and fit that i doubt they had one jump suit layig around for someone else and just gave it to her. likely they repurposed the resources to make the outfit for her. and there were multiple reiterations of the outfit since the test pilot with batgirl that i would imagine changes were made throughout the run.

Don't know about being the same costume, but the wardrobe departments usually had a limited number of fabrics from which to choose, especially in those early days of color TV, and the costume designers could get stuck in a rut. In Yvonne's excellent autobiography she tells about being fitted for the Batgirl suit. Apparently there are two ways to cut and stitch the bodice, one of which highlights the bust line. The Seamstress sewed it together the other way. Yvonne is wearing the suit for the producer, Wm Dozier, and the costume and casting heads. After a minute or two Dozier says, "We hired Yvonne for two reasons and I can't see them. Recut the suit."

A couple of other interesting facts about her costume, notice how the wrist watch disappears after the first episode, except when they re-air the scene of her getting into the secret elevator. Also, notice how the ears on her cowl change from pointed straight up to curving inward toward the end of the season.on a sidenote, you can notice that the yellow bat sticker on the front of her chest is just a stick on label, pay particular attention when she is tied up with catgut during the Catwoman/Joker episode.

batgirl was the reason there was a third season. ratings were going down before then and the execs wanted to see how the show would do. the ratings did go down further and nbc wanted to pick it up from abc. but many of the sets were already destroyed and it would be too costly to build so they ended up just dropping the show. so batgirl was not the reason for the show’s demise. if anything, it kept the actual fans tuned in.

I had never noticed this before. When you consider the shows from the 60's it's not usual. How many times in Gillian's Island have you pointed the reuse of Items? I love your content keep up the good work. Your work has inspired me to buy several complete programs.

It's obviously two different outfits, one is blue, the other is purple.

Reminds me of how in the Superboy tv series the costume worn by Bizarro is the same costume worn by John Haymes Newton as Superboy in season 1.

It's not the same costume. They made them for all three catwomen. Eartha Kitt was like 5'2", Julie Newmar was almost 6'. Linda Gay Scott was a different height than YC, different body type.

That they were nearly the same size means the studios had an ideal body type.

You'd have to do a sequin pattern recognition CSI thing to make sure the two costumes are the same fabric.

Most people don't know that Batgirl under the costume and makeup was actually green.

Does this mean that one of the factors leading into Yvonne Craig being cast for the role of Batgirl was whether or not she fit into the costume they already had on hand? Was she made aware of that requirement?
