Apologies! Apparently Ricky is not gay! His joke from the 2016 golden globes about putting the trophy up his “fill in the blank” on the heels of the jokes in this video of the caller suggestion he wouldn’t make gay jokes the same as fat jokes, and some of the suggestive topics like “******* off 15 dudes is tiring” 😅😅😅….led to an incorrect assumption!

I personally don't think any jokes are out of line. Censorship is nearly always bad and used as a method to control people. However, of course, that does not include telling extremely raunchy jokes to children. If you're telling jokes to adults they shouldn't be censored. If your audience thinks your jokes are inappropriate and not funny, you'll find out fairly quickly, they'll will censor you by not laughing or booing and you'll "bomb." Comedians are needed to push back against attacks on free speech and every single person has internally what they feel is appropriate and what isn't.

People are stupid, we all have been through things in life. I lost my dad, grandad, grandma and many others in cancer, I can still laugh at cancer jokes for an example. Jokes about a topic has nothing to do with me personally 🤷

He's not out there and certainly not aggressive, as literally anything can be turned into comedy, that is what we are like here. He certainly is not gay and its pretty clear that British comedy does not travel that well across the pond. He is in a league of his own.

I respectfully disagree with you a bit. I think that Ricky is pretty “out there “ and that is part of why he is so hilarious because he will take it places that other comedians won’t . I also think that if I don’t like a joke it doesn’t mean I think he shouldn’t have made it or that other people shouldn’t laugh at it. I actually love British comedians especially Jimmy Carr 😊

Ricky Gervais has a lot in common with a lot of Dutch comedians, who actually go a LOT further than he does. Hans Teeuwen comes to mind, with his famous ‘fucking (former) queen Beatrix in her ass’ routine. Or Theo Maassen with his ‘Jesus’ routine, which was also very controversial but brilliant. Paul de Leeuw, Jiskefet (sketch with Sinterklaas (Santa Claus) getting a blowjob and ‘De vliegende panthers’ who did a sketch in which Dikkie Dik (a famous child’s character (kat)) uses both drugs and does heavy crime comes to mind. Dutch comedy is a lot harder than even what Gervais is doing most of the time.

It doesn't. It works by itself. Another story is the fact that it was part of a bigger piece of storytelling with a punchline of its own, but the joke itself, though f*cked up, is quite funny because it totally catches you off guard.

Hey, guys. I'm not sure I've seen you react to anything from "Music Travel Love." You would love them. Really. These are two Canadian brothers traveling the world to sing iconic songs in iconic places, sometimes bringing in other singers as well. I would STRONGLY recommend that you start with their version of the classic "Stand By Me." Just make sure it's the one with FOUR OTHER SINGERS, the one called "Music Travel Love (At AL Ain)." I'm not personally offended or put off by the pedophile joke, but I don't write the rules on how people should feel. We're all different and if that puts anyone off or offends you, I respect that. The joke about the little girl works better with the backstory but to be honest, I don't particularly enjoy that joke either. I do however think nothing should be off limits in comedy, obviously everyone won't like those kind of jokes and I'm glad you are able to look past it even if you think it went too far, you can't help if you don't like a joke but a lot of people get so offended and outraged at comedians for making jokes like that and I will never understand it.

The British have been doing comedy for at least 1500 years under the Roman occupation. The humour has been passed down since that time. Obviously refine it to suit the times and audiences. The British are masters of all comedy.
