Jimmy never married
@ceeyum
@ceeyum 10 ай бұрын
@@e55ex36 why was that clarification necessary... you know what that person meant, don't you... If marriage only means a church wedding to you, then you might be right... but given that the word used is married and *not wedded*, it means a legally binding social union or civil partnership, where both partners are entitled to all benefits as a wedded couple, during and after the termination of such union... Jimmy is definitely in a civil partnership with Karoline Copping... and if someone wants to call such a partnership a marriage, they can... if your idea of a marriage is just stuck in the 16-17 century church definition, then maybe you need to open a dictionary first and read the definition of a marriage...
@cbjones82

@ceeyum to be fair, the legal UK definition of a wedding vs a civil partnership are not the same. It was a fair comment

@@cbjones82 not entirely true... and let me explain myself... both matrimony and civil partnerships can be entered into by both same sex couples and opposite sex couples... but mostly wherever the jurisdiction allows it, the following are the same: legal provisions, eligibility criteria, solemnisation/formation process, administrative process, concept of certificate, annulment, divorce/dissolution, alimony, state pensions and/or survivor benefits. All of the above are the same except for minor text. the following are different, if one chooses to be nit-picky: traditionally marriages are registered in a hardcopy paper register, whist civil partnerships are registered in an electronic register, marriages only record father (step father) of either parties, whilst civil partnerships also record the mother (step mother) name, non-consumation of marriage either owing to incapacity or refusal, can be an additional cause for annulment only in opposite sex marriages (for obvious reasons), similarly adultery is an additional cause for divorce of a married couple and not a cause for dissolution of a civil partnership.... And yes... civil partnerships can be converted into a marriage, while continuing to be a civil partnership... but marriages cannot be converted into a civil partnership, without an annulment or divorce in-between... everything else is the same, legally speaking, to the best of my knowledge...

I've spoken to Jimmy Carr in the street near the BBC in London. He was leaving the BBC building after an interview and he's really a nice guy, we spoke about comedy and how he really loves his job, he did comedy because he was shy as a young man and wanted to impress his friends.

Mong - I think is an oldfashioned slang term for people with Downs Syndrome, I think it derived from the term "Mongoloid". Generally used as an insult (particularly schoolyard) to someone who didn't have DS. Obviously, it's a word that has been considered highly offensive for a long time now (decades), and is no longer used. A bit like the way people use "retard" as an insult in recent times.

3 friends leaving a party, one was a wearing Dallas Cowboys cap, one was wearing a 49ers cap, and the other was wearing a Steelers cap. They were walking along the road and came across a naked lady laying face up and was dead. The 49er fan took off his cap and covered the lady's left breast, the Steeler fan, followed suit and used his cap to cover the lady's right breast, the Cowboy fan reluctantly put his cap over the lady's bush. By now the police had arrived checking over the scene and writing notes in a little tablet. He lifted the 49ers cap looked at it and the left breast then recovered it, and wrote a note in his little pad. The cop then lifted the Steeler cap, looked at the cap then the breast and recovered it, and jotted down another note. Well the officer then lifted the Cowboys cap, looked at the cap, then the bush, then recovered it, started to write a new note but stopped, he picked up the Cowboys cap and again looked at the cap then the bush, but hesitated and for the third time picked up the Cowboys cap looked at it and the bush again, by now the other two fans was asking the cop, what are you doing you keep looking at her bush what are you a pervert? why are you not adding this to your report? Well the cop says, it's just that usually when I look under a Cowboys cap I find a asshole.

I like these compilation shows, but I actually think they miss out on a bit of the.. nuances of the actual shows from where these jokes come. If you just try to find the most daring jokes and place them after eachother it gets a bit too.. packed.. If you get a plethora of different types of jokes, some banter with the audience, etc.. you will be a bit more.. in the right spirit of things, so the extreme jokes become a bit more of a.. "surprise", and then it will also be more of the.. "Gawking laugh" experience.. Surprise is a huge part of comedy. When it comes to Carr he actually pads a lot of his worst jokes.. in some of his stage shows he have addressed the actual complaints that sometmes happens in the media, and explain his current position, and how it is often just a matter of the contrast between expected and unexpected (and that the tension about tabu subjects also can increase the laughter when it releases into the actual laughing at the joke of it).. When it comes to the last joke here him dissecting the joke was part of the padding, but also he warned the audience before saying it, so it became a matter of a joined effort to tell the risky joke, so the audience was kind of.. "in on it"..They were prepared and were "included" in the fact that it wasn't intended to be a straight joke, and then he defused it afterwards aswell. I think my favourite example of when he mentioned how people react negatively to his jokes is when he said something similar to.. "we are just trying to have a laugh, I mean it's not like someone learned anything tonight.. I ~hope~ no one learned anything... ". Another thing he has mentioned (that I also have experienced) is that the people who take offense often take offense on behalf of someone else. I can tell jokes based on Race, bu tnot ANY joke based on race. I know there is a difference to laugh ABOUT something (f.ex. if the hue of someone's skin relates to a missunderstanding), or laughing ~at~.. ~someone~.. both those words matter a lot. The thing is; I have told a lot of the jokes where I want to know whether I am out of line to a lot of people from Africa that I know on facebook.. Not neccesarily a "good metric" as this IS people who know me and know I am not a hostile person, so they don't worry about "me" and therefore can only look at the joke.. and. .most of them just laughs.. Prehaps the most common joke I tel where ethnicity is part of it relates to prejudices.. and.. actually in some of those we ARE laughing "at" someone, but in those case it is usually the racists that gets laughed at.. Some people are just quick to look for the bad, and get up on the palisades. But for some reason no one seem to think that fat-jokes are offensive. I personally dislike when fat people are portrayed as slobs, unattractive, and/or without self-control. I would absolutely complain about feeling offended (for myself) when it comes to Simpsons, Family Guy, pretty much every stand-up-comedian who go for the cheap jokes, "Fat Bastard" from the Austin Powers movie.. OR.. the portrayal of obese people in Little Britain, or for that matter the movie "Dodge-ball".. but.. I don't.. 'cause they are funny.. and.. I'd prefer to keep the humour around.. but I CAN see that there are a shitload of prejudices and the normalcy in portraying fat people as if they constantly are walking around with grease over their bodies SERIOUSLY affect society.. Mere exposure effect is a real thing.. but.. we can't look too hard at humour.. I just wish more people started realizing tha toverweight/obese people can be hygienic.. and.. SHUOLD be viewed as viable partners for romance.. and so on. but.. media constantly try to spread the message that we aren't attractive and that it is our faut for being pigs.. Do I have beef? Yes.. Do I want the humour to die.. no. If anything I'd prefer there to be more counter-points.. perhaps not even in humour form, but we ARE the forgotten group. We are people where it is still perfectly okay to just tell us straight to our face that we are not desirable, and that it is our fault, and then exclude us from things.
