I lived in a little country town in Texas in the first part of the 80s, and Ricky Skaggs was part of my soundtrack from that era. I've loved him ever since.

Sad to think most people who listen to “country” music today have never heard of Mr.Skaggs.

Exactly what I think all the time. I grew up on the 80's / early 90's country. Best music in my opinion

Just tell the young kids, Ricky Skaggs have made a performance with Jack White. Look it up here on YT. Jack White have a deep respect for old time music, and ppl as Ricky Skaggs.

What are you talking about? Lots of young people listen to 80s country. Just look at comments on 80s videos and you'll see tons of younger people saying they love this stuff. You must now talk to young people, grandpa.

I was 17 years old and a senior in high school when this song was on the charts in January of 1986. Ricky Skaggs is one of my favorites. Today's so-called "country music," for the most part, doesn't even come close to the country music of the 80's and 90's. This is real country music. I wish we could bring it back.

You know its good when live sounds better than studio
@davidcassidy39563 жыл бұрын
Most of live albums are done with post-production at studios that means sound very different from concerts.
@LinkRocks Жыл бұрын
The studio version is a live track as well.
@sclawman Жыл бұрын
This is the only version ever released. Other than the bluegrass one he released. Very few changes were made to this live recording for the album-except cleaning up the twin fiddles at the end.

He was one of country's "Big Six" in the genre's neo-traditional movement, referring to a group of musicians who in the 1980s had led efforts to gain control of their careers; the other five included Naomi & Wynonna Judd (The Judds), Reba McEntire, Vince Gill and Dwight Yoakam.

“Than treeing’ a coon”. Part of taking your dog out hunting at night to hunt raccoons. A southern thing stereotype maybe? Nothing racial in this -animals not people. People then turned coon into an ugly insult.
