Great hearing how he weaves the clearly Kottke patented bass riff into a Jerry Reed tune as if they were always meant to be together...such a bag of skills Tommy has... there is no guitar idiom he doesn't borrow from..

Tommy is as usual a fantastic player, and he is also a good teacher. Among other things he recalls Leo Kottke extraordinarilly technique and groove at 3:55, a recognition of Leo's genius. We can hear this stuff for instance here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nbCkm6qkp6iZiYU.html

@StopMoColorado6 жыл бұрын
You're not wrong, and it's not a coincidence, a lot of Roots Music very intentionally incorporates sonic elements that mimick other sounds, generally as a narrative or mood-setting device. Given that this type of music really (in terms of guitar music) got started in the US, which was built out on the back of the Rail Lines, it's natural that such a distinctive sounding machine as a Locomotive would find its way into "Hobo Music" (lots of Locomotive sounds in Hobo Harp/Harmonica tunes, too), Delta Blues, etc.. But, as to the first response, yes, Tommy is also a fantastically talented guitarist :D
@SkodaATOM6 жыл бұрын
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the comment may be connecting Jerry Reed the musician to Jerry Reed the actor, then connecting that a quote from Waterboy where Adam Sandler quips after one of the running backs for Jerry Reed's team is yelling at Sandler that he "sounds like a choo choo train."
