I got an offer to be photographer on a short film. So I had to build a rig from stuff I had lying around. Had to hacksaw it a bit...
The Fujifilm XH2S gets a cage.

Palle you've stumbled across the perfect video format here. This is EXACTLY how real world stuff happens. Great stuff, thanks.

The Wooden Camera cage is significantly heftier in terms of both strength and price. Also, if you record in-camera and just monitor using your HDMI screen, there's an option to output the camera display info to the HDMI so you don't need to use the LCD to know if you're recording or not: Enable the HDMI OUTPUT INFO DISPLAY option You can also lower the weight on your handle by using that lower-right side v-mount to power the LCD - it'd make you less front-heavy too

Thanks for your input. I prefer the data info on the build in display and the monitor just for framing and focus. I use the Tally light for rec on indicator.

Thnx mate. I'm currently editing the film. I'm surprised how long the internal battery lasts. I used two to three batteries on a days filming.

Hey Palle, good video. Watching you find your way through rigging this camera was cathartic! Am rigging a Canon R5C and it's been quite a journey.

Thanx for the awesome video. Im half way around the world and i build myself a start stop on my side handle and a splitter so I could start stop also from the top handle, I guess practical people think alike 😂. Love how your thinkering and make it work. Im using the xt3 at the moment and looking to upgrade some time to the xh2s

i could never get a straight answer - but in shoots where I do need to use the zoom lens - can i use that manual focus gear on the fuji lens to manual focus the lens without needing to add the additional zip gear thing that is attached to the lens. - but its not good enough because lens that are focus by wire goes more than 360 degrees

Small Rig sells a cool little compact tool set with the flat head and all the allen wrenches you need. $20.

By the way, smallrig has a very nice handle with an integrated red recording button that can be used for Fuji, Sony and Canon via USB and it ships with the cables for each brand if you chose the full package. I got it and it works well on the xt4. Maybe it works with the new Fuji's.
@PalleSchultz
@PalleSchultz Жыл бұрын
I talked with Smallrig after they saw my video, where I made the button in their handle. But it took them a while, before they made one that worked with Fuji. I think they wanted to cover more than just one camera brand, and mine are very simple. But it's great that they ended up doing it. :)

@@PalleSchultz to be honest I find your machined button a bit big but it's damn sexy, I can't resist such a piece of metal. Plus the Y cable to cover 2 switches is pretty ingenious and I don't think the smallrig one can do that.
@PalleSchultz
@PalleSchultz Жыл бұрын
@@REMY.C. I don't know if it can. Because mine are so simple, a simple y cable is enough. I agree that my all button is a bit big. I couldn't make it smaller because of the internals. I could have chosen a smaller button and made it narrower... but I kinda like big buttons...;)

Most digital cameras have an IR block filter. I do not know how Fujifilm have chosen to filter out the Infrared spectrum in their cameras.

I USUALLY FILE THE PLASTIC ON THE CABLE CONTACT DOWN TO THE SAME SIZE OF THE METALCONTACT. AS LONG AS YOU DONT EXPOSE THE WIRES IT IS USUALLY QUITE PRACTICAL. AND CABLES ARE MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE IF THEY ARE DAMAGED👍

Someone who likes the 24mm by Samyang? I had it back in my sony-years and I HATED it. I would love to have a 24mm 1.4 for the look and the things you can do with it separating while using an ultra wide angle but the samyang really aint it for me.
