People forget that Rihanna changed the whole makeup industry with her brand, especially when it comes to celeb brands. Back in the day celeb brands were all about a celebrity slapping their name onto something others created. Rihanna completely raised the bar. She literally started her brand from the ground, only using top tier well thought out formulas and came out with a shade range that NO other makeup brand previously had. Also, she’s completely involved in each and every product. Then she came out with innovative products, the killawatt highlighter being one of them, the cheek hugging highlighter brush, the magnetic shade sticks. Also, she heavily marketed her stick cream contour in an era when everyone was about the heavy powder contour. So OF COURSE people will question her hair care line less and be more positive towards it. Beyoncé is extremely talented but she hasn’t contributed to the beauty industry in the same way at all. She’s never been a trendsetter with her fashion, makeup and hair looks like Rihanna. The outrage is uncalled for

*As far as Rih & Bey, i think you also have to consider the fact that people have seen Rih wear her natural hair A LOT and we've watched her literally dye, cut, and do everything under the sun to it and its still healthy and grew back quickly. It grew back healthy and full every single time. Bey on the other hand, she wore wigs like Rih but she barely showed her real hair. Then whenever she did, it was just there... like there was no transition periods or processes for the world to really witness and embrace with her. The world has gotten Rih's entire journey and i think that will help her sales.*

Rihanna didn't just pull this out of her ass. When Fenty beauty came out it was known that her trademark was for a plethora of things including hair care perfume and even baby stuff. So she probably sat on this for years. Once Fenty became mega successful I'm sure that's when she started to get to work. She's coming out with a lot of stuff so I can only imagine how many rounds of testing and trials she went through before it came out.

Rihanna has built consumer rapport and has seemingly dedicated the last 7 years of her career to the hair, beauty and fashion industry, so I think with that in mind people are just naturally more inclined to at the very least try out her product without really questioning it especially with how well fenty beauty did. A big part of Rihanna’s appeal is the fact that she has always sold us a lifestyle that went with her music she’s like the original influencer so people gravitate to whatever product she’s selling.
