I'd also like to suggest carrying a plastic bag with some cotton balls and a cheap lip balm. If you rip up half a cotton ball and smear a little bit of lip balm on it, it will catch fire _very_ easily and work as an excellent firestarter. Of course, talking pine cones work just as well.

We use dryer lint, but it works just the same.

Advantage of using cotton or jute: you don't need a flame from a lighter or match, you just need a ferrocerium rod or a spent cheap lighter (the sparker will light the fine fibers). Disadvantage: they're kinda light, so a strong wind can make things difficult.

I loved this because even though Rin is now an expert solo camper, she also had to start somewhere and screwed up plenty in the beginning. I think its great because people will probably go into camping from this show thinking that its easy from beginning like Rin in episode 1. Its still a heck of a lot of fun, but theres always stuff that I've found goes wrong, so this episode kinda speaks to me.

I started going out camping again because of this show. I used to go all of the time with family as a kid, used to have big gatherings with my parents friends and it would just be a circle of ten or so tents and we'd spend a weekend. After watching the first season, I went and bought a used tent and took a couple of days off of work and went camping with my dog and had a blast. It was great to relax, turn my phone off, just read and go hiking for a few days

I love the fact most knowledge our main characters learn over the series is from side characters and one-off extras who just happen to have more experience themselves. It rings true to real life of how we just learn as we go from one another regardless of what the subject is

Rin is my favorite bc we both love solo camping. In my opinion nothings better than just being out by yourself with your thoughts, a good book and some quiet music. We also share the same thoughts on winter vs summer camping personally I think the people who camp in the summer are crazy people nothings worse than waking up in a hot tent.
