It really makes you wonder... If he is the smartest Sith lord... How terrible were the Jedi to have a problem with the rest of them? They could just set up a hall of mirrors and sith would fall to it like a bug zapper with their own lightning. Also when this movie reveals Rey is part of Palpatine's family... I guess they're hoping people didn't read the comics as to who anakins father is.... Anakin who is the grandfather of Kylo. [Screams in Alabamian]

Eh, I’m fine with getting the voices vs. an Army of the Dead but with Jedi. I thought the scene in RotK was pretty lame. It would’ve been worse here with the army of Jedi past as cg ghosts of young Anakin, a weird lifelike version of Ahsoka and old Luke and Leia killing any positivity I had up to that point. The voices were alright and tastefully done. The power ramping was of another level (we’re pulling down ships and sending enough energy to shut down a fleet of ships).

Palps has no imagination. He just keeps trying the same thing repeatedly. He's like build some big ships, make some clones, dark side lighting some people, and get some kid to corrupt. I would have thought he would stop firing force lightning once his own energy was consuming him, perhaps once a dark sider is sufficiently immersed in the dark side its not possible to turn of the force lightning tap, i think he was able to stop in ROTS because he wasn't fully immersed and his life was not in real danger because Anakin was present,

I interpreted it as this: the body of Palpatine was his original corpse. It looked dead and decayed, and the contraption he was connected to reminded me of a marionette. It would be pretty cool if his evil spirit survived, and the body was recovered. His spirit was then controlling the puppet body until he was able to steal Rey and Kylos life force, which he used to heal the body and re-enter it, shown when the life returns to the previously “dead” eyes!

i had a similar theory myself, like in the EU there were sith that survived way worse using the dark side. So how i saw it was that this is Palpatines body, his original one, dying and decaying, but he kept himself alive all this time using his hatred, to fuel the dark side. Hell there was a sith, forgot his name, who was literally a zombie.

I really wish we could've actually seen Anakin, Obiwan and Yoda's force ghost in this movie just to fully cement all the films together and give a little more finality to all of the sagas. That would've been epic af!!

Nope, Anakin did bring balance to the Force (he even stated as such) and basically ended the Sith when he killed the Emperor. All of that was proven correct rather than a retcon of Episode VI. Rey’s father was conceived by Palpatine as a means to transfer himself since Vader was “damaged goods” before he found out about Luke. During the events of episodes 4-6, Palpatine studied and possibly went to that planet to set up backup contingency plans if he could not transfer himself to a more powerful form. Think of it like Voldemort’s horcruxes before being killed by Harry Potter, only to return years later when his power recovered. Overall, Anakin brought balance...Rey only restored it!

I know nobody is going to pay attention to this but i might as well say it anyway. Palpatine actually is ‘dead’ up until the ending where he steals Rey and Ben’s life force to rejuvenate himself. Evidence to support this would be his eyes, which are missing pupils, and his body (his fingers are a prime example) which is decomposing. He’s only alive because the sith are residing inside of him, fueling him with the Dark Side of the force.

I’ve always thought since ‘83 that when Palpatine ‘exploded’ into blue light, that was his Sith spirit exiting his material body. If you watch as Vader’s lying there, there’s what looks like a solidish phantom shape that flies out of the hole and past him. That’s Palpatine’s essence.....well that’s what I’ve always thought.

Palpatine: He became so powerful ... the only thing he was afraid of was losing power, which of course he ended up doing. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, and then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself. Anakin: Is it possible to learn this power? Palpatine: Not from a Jedi.

There was no good reason to keep the fleet at Exogol the entire movie. The Final Order Destroyers should have spread out throughout the galaxy immediately.

In a nutshell: Vader throws him off He survives using either Sith Alchemy or using the ability to cheat death which Darth Plagueis taught him He arrives on Exegol,an ancient Sith world where the dark side's presence is even stronger than on Mustafar(yes,Mustafar has a strong presence of the dark side) His followers construct a massive fleet of Imperial Star Destroyers each fitted with a planet killing weapon,effectively making the name Mini-Starkiller quite applicable. Blah,blah the movie happens

palp died in ROJ, exogal had a cloning facility. clones of sheive were constantly being made he would transfer his force essence into them and they would deteriorate very rapidly until he went into another clone. all the sith troopers maning the star destroyers = clones. all the people in the stands those were spirits of past sith.

I kinda wonder if now they're going to explain smoke as a failed genetically engineered body for palpatine. Like they tried to make a beefier model for him and it mutated every time so he just used it as a puppet and then Rey coming along makes him change plans. Seemed like the plan changed when he got a little life force from them before the big drain. Just throwing my idea out there

I don't know if a failed clone of Palpatine would have a height of 7ft. Snoke is classified as a humanoid when Palpatine is just human. I think his creation of Snoke was not his own clone.

@@d00ks Considering how Rey used it on accident, the lightning thing could be pure agression - so beyond certain level of hating someone, your attack will be a force lightning by default. "hating somebody so hard he bursts into flames" seems like it would be hard to just turn off.

If Palpatine can clone himself, why not just clone another body and posses that one instead of needing Rey? Or better yet.. why not explain all this inside the movie instead of having someone like you trying to explain it for them?

I think it makes more sense that when palpatine struck down plagious, there was such a lack of a fight, that plagious did the same thing to Palpatine that Palpatine was trying to do to Rey. When he says "only one has learned how to overcome death" it wasn't Palpatine it was Plagious. If Palpatine had learned as well then two would have learned. When he says he has died before, it was before he died in episode six. When Palpatine killed him, and he took over Palpatines body. He's trying to do it again to Rey. Just my two cents.

@@thedarkapex5327 He was drunk not asleep. There's a whole cannon book about it. Plagueis hadn't slept for years. The night Palpatine got elected chancellor they celebrated over several bottles of wine. Afterwards Palpatine hit him with force lightning and force choke to "kill" him. That's when he took Maul as formal apprentice and then episode 1 happened.

But it doesn't. It's symbolic of the fact that Anakin stopped being Anakin after order 66, until luke brought him back. So, he resumes the form of the anakin he was before vader.

That was the whole point of his redemption arch in return of the Jedi and therefore when he died earned the right to become a force ghost, it makes absolutely no sense that they'd super impose Hayden Christianson just because George Lucas though that's who people thought of when they thought of Anakin. I see your point but that point excludes the whole point of his redemption arch.

Note that powerful Force sensitive women (e.g. Satele Shan) would keep their youthful sexy appearance longer than normals. "If you want peace, prepare for war". Power is what you make of it.
