That was what made Darth Sion so intimidating in KotOR 2. He was a spirit holding tenaciously to a dead and decaying body and the fact that you could deal mortal blows to him multiple times to no effect made it a real "oh crap!" fight.

Define “good”. “Not completely retarded” isn’t enough. The whole concept of cloning and clones in the prequels was just... there. They were just stormtroopers but even less interesting. The biggest crime of the clones was that they robbed the audience of all emotional investment in the Clone War conflict. Nobody on Earth gave a shit about the clones and the robots when they violently killed each other in their big videogame cutscene-esque battles. Those were my issues with them, anyway, even as a teenager. Even the Ewoks inspired more emotion when they were getting hurt and dying. So here’s the part where someone brings up the Clone Wars series that I still don’t care about. I’m sure the clones were cooler in that series. But that doesn’t save them from being mindless drones in the movies that were tailor made to sell toys and games with little in the way of good writing.

@@damkylan3 yes, the Clones got barely anything, barely any attention in the actual Prequel Films. That is exactly one of many things people love about the Clone Wars series. It gave the Clone Troopers so much spotlight and humanized them. That's what makes the Clone Troopers more interesting than stormtroopers. Even in just the films though, I just like the Clones better than stormtroopers. I love the OT, but there we dont even know where stormtroopers come from. They are just faceless grunts for the Empire. (Obviously the EU gave them a bit more depth, but that is still outside the films) whereas even just in the films. The clone troopers are explained. They are Fett clones. And were made to fight a fake proxy war, and then to destroy the Jedi. Building the Empire in plain sight in the process. I know that isnt much but it is still more than the faceless grunts of the empire had.

Without the clone's unwavering devotion to the Republic, Palpatine wouldn't have been able to completely and utterly wipe away the Jedi order in such a swift stroke.

@@damkylan3 to be fair tho, the prequels weren't made for audiences to get invested in the clones. It wasn't about getting to know them individually, just that it happened and how it came to be. They were much more about the fall of anakin and obiwan and the rest of the jedi and how Palpatine succeeded in ending the order. Don't get me wrong prequels are far from perfect but I never once thought that they didn't do a good enough job focusing on the clones, since the they weren't supposed to be on an individual level. Also the reason people bring up the clone wars series you don't care about is because that is the point of that show, humanizing and exploring the dilemma of making a clone army, because yes there is potential there for good story telling. Yeah the jedi are in it but it's like the opposite of the movies, it isn't solely about their story.

In the expanded universe Palpatine used a force ability called Essence transfer to transfer his Essence to a clone body. What they did in rise of Skywalker is Star Wars considering it doesn't make any sense in Canon for Palpatine to be alive.

I disagree. The point of making Legends non-canon was so they weren't shackled to the mess of stories that existed, not to throw everything out and start from scratch. That way, they can take the plot elements and ideas that were already a part of Star Wars and use them without worrying about contradicting anything. They can tell new stories and assemble a new canon and restore things that were previously canon.

Dark Empire had a lot of interesting and unique ideas. It wasn’t amazing writing, but it wasn’t trash.

My assumption was that the Sequel trilogy was always going to be a soft reboot of the OT and the prequels were going to be quietly put down. To anyone who watched the OT, it's really obvious. I think that LucasFilm/Disney really thought the consumer was stupid, shallow, and ADHD, that they could put anything out there or even put down obvious Political Agendas that offend even the Liberals, and people would wet their panties over the brand name alone. And they could milk it for cash money because we can't be humans, smart and intelligent. We're cash cows. If the sequel trilogy was a success, THEN Disney would make a New Republic trilogy. The ST is still the Empire vs the Rebels, but they can't use those names because...copyrights? There's got to be a legal reason why the franchise owner doesn't use the original names for everything. Why First Order/Final Order and not the Imperials/Galactic Empire? Why the Resistance and not the Rebel Alliance? Why is the capital planet Hosnian Prime and Coruscant? My money is on greed. I'm going to guess George Lucas put into the contract when he sold the franchise that if you use the original names, Lucas continues to get some form of royalty. So, naturally, cash grubbing Disney does not. This is also probably why the SWEU became Legends. Only Disney gets to make money off of SW. No one else. The writing on all three movies was terrible, even considering a soft reboot aspect. You could easily write a story where Palpy survives the DS2 explosion as a force spirit (retconning that only light side users could be spirits), and that his death was legitimately part of his plans. Force ghosts should have limited ability to interact with the living. Because they're dead. But they're also invincible, also because they're dead. So Palpy's plan would be to become a force spirit that also has full interaction with the mortal plane, and that the protagonist has to ascend to heaven/afterlife/Sovngarde to defeat Palpy for good.

I completely agree, but the actors were not at fault ever. It was mostly crappy dialogue. I mean, try making "I am haunted by the kiss you never should have gaven me" sound normal.

Yeah, even as someone who likes these films, there were so many missed opportunities! Even simple lines of dialogue or cutting and adding certain bits could've saved some of it. Like, here's some ideas I thought of. 1. Set up Palpatine more. In TFA, Snoke could day that he serves someone greater. TLJ, Rey thinks her grandfather was a great Jedi, but Kylo tells her the truth, that her grandfather was Palpatine. Maybe his spirit went on to possess his own dead body!? This would define Reys arc of showing that she's not like her grandfather, but rather like her mentors, Luke and Leia. 2. In TLJ, cut down the Cantobite subplot, and give a better reason for it. Like, maybe Holdo is afraid that a spy is on board, (the reason why they're being tracked through Hyperspace), so she has Poe, Finn, Rose and BBW find someone to help them shut down the tracker. Maybe make it Lando, and that's why he's more involved in the next film. 3. Instead of Star Destroyers that destroy planets, why not simply make them a large artificial army created by Palpatine, that would ensure the subjugation of the entire galaxy unless stopped. 4. Make Rey very tired when she uses the Force. Like, in TFA, it's her first time using it, so she gets tired, or maybe even nosebleeds when using it, but those slowly go away as she gets better at using it. 5. Maybe have Luke more remorseful about his failure. Like, he's wanted to make ammends, help his family reconcile, but Hans death was the last straw that convinced him of his failure, and Reys presence is what keep shim going until her redeems himself by help everyone escape. 6. Just a near idea for a climax of TROS, have the ghosts of previous Jedi and Sith swirling around Rey and Palpatine as they fight. Maybe give him that lightsaber we saw Dark Rey use, as a final test for her to prove that she won't become like her biological family, but rather the one she's made for herself with the Resistance? This was originally a ‘new series’ And I just cant help but notice KK has a tendency to borrow from the EU in the worst ways possible. Somehow.

Twenty-Fifth I think it’s more of a Disney mandate, considering they saw it work with Marvel and they had release dates in place before the movies could be finessed, and sometimes, you can’t rush stuff like this. I think that’s why Lucas gave himself three years instead of two; so he could fine-tune what he was working on. Being original ideas also helped make it a longer process for him. Unfortunately, he could’ve benefitted from additional collaborators, but didn’t, though he seemingly understood story progression and character development than Disney and co. do.

I've read fanfics with more cohesion and faith to the Star Wars mythos than Disney's bullshit.

This Disney Trilogy is nothing but a complete insult to Fanfiction in-general. We could have gotten a _Past Sins_ or a _Fallout: Equestria_ movie adaptation instead of this, and it would have been substantially better. You hear me? A _Friendship is Magic_ Fanfiction would draw in more crowd appeal than almost any film from the Disney Trilogy. Especially considering that I can actually get behind and feel more attached to characters like Littlepip and Nyx as the main female lead, because unlike a Mary Sue like Rey who has everything handed to her on a silver platter, Nyx and Littlepip both have their own internal struggles that they must cope with, their emotional baggage, plenty of Vices to go alongside their Virtues, character growth and development that sees them in moments of pain and emotional vulnerability. And above all: they feel like believable parts of the stories they are a part of.

Honestly Legends + the Mandalorian is my head canon and I just ignore this Disney trilogy. With all its flaws Legends is way better than this Disney trilogy, and with what we've seen in the Mandalorian, that show can coexist with the Legends continuity

I don't understand the people who say the movie would have been worse with Collin. It was just a script, a lot of the cheesy and awkward lines would have been refined come production, and the actual story was much more consistent with the sequel trilogy and ITSELF.
