I was an Anglo-Catholic in the Church of England which left over this and this caused no end of trouble and division within the body of the church. All the women priests I met seemed more concerned with their RIGHTS THAN GOD!!! They appeared to enter into the clergy with an agenda contrary to the standing order of the church determined that they were right and the every body else was wrong.I became a Roman Catholic and I am glad that Rome has stood firm on this issue it tends to be the thin end of the wedge to bring in other issues even more outside the teachings of the church such as gay marriage and same sex union.

What utter bullcrap. You obviously haven't met ONE female priest. As for "no end of trouble and division ", despite a great deal of prayer, and the invocation of the Spirit to guide the Church into the right and godly result, there were a VERY small number of traitors who, after the VAST majority went with the Holy Spirit's guidance, didn't like not getting their own way, so they stamped their feet, put up two fingers to the Holy Spirit, and scuttled off. And good riddance to them. I guess you were one of them.

***** I think you just proved my point with your rude and idiotic comment.I have met many female Priests and your ignorance is astounding. The numbers now who have left because of this and other issues with in the C of E can be seen everyday in the ever dwindling congregations.Rome offered an alternative to this hysterical view and now by far is largest active church in England. It does not have a daily problem of filling its churches and if the HOLY SPIRIT WAS WITH YOU THAT WOULD BE THE CASE!!!

angelo lopes Actually, with due respect, you are talking absolute nonsense. And frankly, when you offensively say "All the women priests I met seemed more concerned with their RIGHTS than GOD!!! " don't be surprised if those who know better than you correct you in no uncertain terms. You even state that "they were right and the every body else was wrong" when the decision to ordain women was sought for decades through prayer and the invocation of the Spirit for guidance. It seems you can dish out rudeness and offence, but when you are corrected you bleat pathetically about a "rude and idiotic comment". I suggest that if you come out with these insulting and abusive comments that you should expect a correction in no uncertain terms. You say "I have met many female Priests and your ignorance is astounding." Really? As a male Anglican priest, I trained with 17 females who also went on to the priesthood. In my own deanery the majority of priests with whom I work are women. My archdeacon is a woman. Oh... and i am married to a female priest also. So maybe I trump your "I have met many female Priests and your ignorance is astounding" nonsense. The former Catholic ex nazi pope, the one who left under a huge cloud (some say because of his involvement in the child rape cover up), offered a malicious "welcoming" hand to those in the Anglican Church who wanted to join the Roman Catholic ordinariate, becoming priests in the Catholic Church, as a snub against the C of E. Around 470 priests left the Church of England because of the ordination of women. According to the C of E's own website, there are approximately 28,800 clergy including non parish ministry such as prison chaplains. This means the percentage who left are a paltry one and a half per cent. Of these, some joined the RCC at the request of Benedict, in his usual malignant way. The result of this breathtakingly unwise step, welcoming traitors who had broken their own vows of canonical obedience, was the alienation of his OWN clergy, as many of those Anglicans who defected were married with a family. Therefore those married RC deacons who have historically been prevented from becoming priests, and those priests who had given up a loving wife and family for the Church, saw these newbies coming in having their cake and eating it, and they resent it somewhat. And I don't blame them one bit. But that is what one would expect regarding Benedict; it's called 'treating people (and not just the parents of abused children, but even his own clergy) with utter contempt'. I hope and pray that Francis will be a tad more Christian. You claim that the RCC is "by far is largest active church in England" According to the official figures released by the BBC from the 2001 census, 26 million people have been baptised into the Church of England, whereas the Catholic Church claims just over four million baptised members in England and Wales combined. So, even not including Wales, the number of C of E official members outnumbers Catholic members by a factor of at least six to one. Stand corrected. Even active regular attenders in the Church of England (from its own website, 4.7 million) exceeds the *total* number of Catholics, many of whom do not attend regularly or are 'lapsed'. It's been estimated that the attendance at RCC services is roughly a third of those who regularly attend the C of E. While both churches have been in decline over the last 50 years, the decline in the RCC has been far greater (again, according to BBC reported figures) and, while the C of E now has significant growth, the RCC continues to be in decline. Worldwide the RCC is also in decline thanks partly to the astronomical growth of the Chinese Church that is predominantly Protestant, and has women's ministry. the RCC is now in the minority, according to WCC figures. Visiting a RC Church and gauging its congregation size gives a false impression. In my own area, there are two moderately sized Catholic Church buildings serving a gathered congregation from all the surrounding villages. No wonder the churches seem 'full' Yet there are 27 Anglican Churches serving those villages, and each one with a viable and healthy church membership. Add these together and they would fill the RC Churches several times over. The most significant decline is the numbers entering the Catholic priesthood. In 1985 just 150 or so entered seminary, but just two decades later this number plummeted to just 22. In the C of E around five hundred new priests are called by the Holy Spirit to be ordained each year, with that figure rising year on year, roughly half of them female, so that the percentage of female clergy is continuing to rise. In France, the average age of a rural priest is way past sixty, and each one has 30+ churches under his care. This reduction of the priest into a 'mass saying machine' means that there is no pastoral care nor spiritual guidance. No wonder the RC Church there is in such a mess. Since the introduction of women, the numbers in the Church of England have grown and continue to grow. The spiritual health of the Church also continues to grow. Those parents wanting their children educated in C of E schools has grown astronomically. The C of E has become more involved in social needs and spiritual guidance than at any other time in its history. It is gradually becoming more and more blessed. You offensively say "IF THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS WITH YOU THAT WOULD BE THE CASE!!!" I truly believe it is. Stand well and truly corrected.

Speaking as a woman who is so grateful for my loving Catholic Church, shame on these women for trying to push themselves into what they believe to be positions of 'power', in a Church they *don't even believe in* . Christ calls leaders to lead by SERVING, *as he did, humbly, in submission* . These women don't believe in that--they've absorbed their historically-situated culture's' values which teach that all vocations are just 'jobs' that anyone can 'earn', and that God's world isn't rich in diversity and differentiation of function, but rather drab, flat, grey, and smeared with same-ness. They believe in a culture that despises the beautiful complementarity of Father God & Mother Earth, instead preferring a culture of Asexual Interchangeability. Our Church is full to the brim of wise, beautiful, saintly female leaders: Mother Mary, Saint Thérèse of Lisieux (the youngest ever Doctor of the Church!), Mother Theresa, Saint Catherine of Genoa, and thousands of other female saints who inspire and lead us by their humble service and example before God. No Christ-follower--no Christian who seeks to take up the cross of Christ and follow Jesus into his suffering, his SACRIFICE, his death and from there into his life of continued and perfect obedience to God--will ever be inspired or led to goodness by these prideful women who are only grasping at their own sense of prestige.

@@EndisYveactually there used to be married priests that's the weird thing about it. The only reason they instituted priestly celibacy was because priests were leaving church property to their surviving family. I would have no problem with married priests as long as they realize that any church property has to devolve back to whichever diocese they were with, but that they may leave their personal property to their surviving family members (sons, daughters, widows etc.).

Saying that she was called by God and then rebelling against the church in itself shows her ignorance. This was how many protestant churches were formed. If she was truly called by God, she could have become a Nun and served the faithful and the church. If the church was so against women, why would it even have orders for women? The church, being born of Judaism, adopted the Jewish custom. The sacrifice and sacraments were done by men in the Jewish faith and not by women. But women also had the role of leading a holy life and serving in the temple, just like nuns in Christianity. The argument in this video is purely political with spirituality merely as a facade.

What do you mean by that? The Catholic Church is responsible for the creation of the college system, the modern hospital system, the scientific method and many more things that have contributed to the modernization of much of the entire world from Scandanavia to the entire continent of south America. What is she risking? She ministers to a group of people who agree with her. For her to take communion in a church in which she does not share the same beliefs is a bit hypocritical. It's completely logical. 1. Taking communion implies a unity of heart and mind. 2. She has unapologetically separated herself from the rest of the Catholic Church and the faith as it has been passed down for 2000 years. 3. She is not in communion with the Catholic Church.

By doing this she has excommunicated herself, so with or without a formal excommunication, her reception of the Lord's body is damaging her soul. We can only pray for her and all those in her position, both that they might return for the Church and find a true vocation through which to fulfil themselves. The Lord loves them, let them listen to His Son on Earth, the Body of Christ, the Holy Church.

Matthew 23:9: "And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven." According to 1 Peter 2:9, women and men are priests, whereas pastorship is only for men. By introducing laity, the Catholic Church has gone astray. "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." (Offenbarung 18,4)

A woman can preach and teach. But, the role of the priest is a masculine role, and preaching/teaching within the liturgy is his role. This is seen through the role of the Apostles as the presbyters in liturgical worship. There is no evidence in scripture of women leading liturgical worship, but there is of men throughout Acts. Jesus never ordained women. He did ordain men. This isn't an issue of equality, but of roles in the Church. Women serve some roles (which can involve teaching outside of liturgy), and men serve others. Why is this an issue?

Other than the fact that women priests will never be allowed, only a bishop can ordain a priest, and who "ordained" the first woman in this group? Also...the stole goes under the chasuble, a wine glass cannot be used as a chalice and grape juice is invalid matter. So even if this was validly ordained priest, mass celebrated in this manner would not be valid.

Nathan Schachle - Not sure if true, but I read/heard something to the extent of someone who was ordained, illicitly ordained these women. It may have even been a priest, and from my understanding they are not to pass down ordination, at least under normal circumstances. To me, it sounds like the Devil is pushing really hard. But, Jesus promises that the Gates of Hell will not prevail against his Church and that it will be with us till the end of times.

Of course the Pope is not God. Neither is she. The Holy Spirit is not summoned like an elevator. You can't just push a button and down He comes. Think of the tens of thousands of groups (I won't use "churches") who maintain the Holy Spirit has infused them with the right to do what they wish ,and they all disagree about Scripture and all that they contain. Christ's will and love while He was personally present here on earth was the creation of the Catholic Church through Peter and the bishops of Rome. Women can never be priests. The church has spoken and the case is closed. How is this difficult to grasp?

Everyone pray for this woman. She needs to open her heart to the truth. The church represents the bride the and Christ the bridegroom. In pagan cultures we had priestesses and priests. It was God who set the order of things. Mary Magdalen was beloved by Jesus but yet was not of the 12 chosen and not of the disciples given holy orders to forgive sins in his name. You cannot have a woman priest in persona Christi representing the bridegroom. That's theological homosexuality. The mass represents the supper of the lamb and we best not forget that.

"Risking it all to be a female priest." How sad that what they are really risking is their souls for their disobedience. Notice that these videos of women being "ordained" are all in non-catholic Churches. These women just don't get it. Going to a Protestant seminary, or some Protestant community is NOT being ordained a Catholic Priest. That ordination is useless and does not confer an ordination. Might as well recite "Hickory Dickory Dock" by whomever. Results will be the same.

I'm not venturing an opinion regarding female ordination but many here say that the bible doesn't justify women priests. In actuality Jesus never started any denomination nor a priesthood nor the rcc nor the protestant denomination. When Jesus died the veil in the temple was torn in half from top to bottom, indicating we could go to God without any mediator. The only mediator between God and man is Jesus. Furthermore do you believe only Catholics will go to heaven? We will be judged by God not any man be it saint, pope or minister. The only way to heaven is through Jesus by telling Him your sorry for your sins and asking Him to reside in your spirit. God bless

The question why women can't be ordained priests is often confused with the issue of equality. The Holy Father has made it clear that men and women (as far as their sex is concerned) are equal before God (e.g., Mulieris Dignitatem 6). But equality isn't identity. Men and women have different though complementary functions. Priesthood is a male function, for the reason that a priest is an icon of Christ, and Christ is male. The maleness of Christ is an important sign of His relationship to the Church, His Bride. As in nearly all cultures, a man takes the initiative in winning a wife, so Christ took the initiative in winning souls and establishing His Church. For this reason, marriage is a “mystery” or sacrament of the Church (Eph 5:32). The Ordination of Women is not VALID in the eyes of God. They are in no way affiliated by The Bishop of Rome. They EXCOMMUNICATED themselves. and cannot receive Holy Communion nor buried in any Catholic Cemetery “Priesthood is a male function, for the reason that a priest is an icon of Christ, and Christ is male. The maleness of Christ is an important sign of His relationship to the Church, His Bride. As in nearly all cultures, a man takes the initiative in winning a wife, so Christ took the initiative in winning souls and establishing His Church. For this reason, marriage is a “mystery” or sacrament of the Church (Eph 5:32).” Priesthood - Reserved to Men In his Apostolic Letter Ordinatio sacerdotalis (1994), the Holy Father Pope John Paul II, declared that “the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women and that this judgment is to be definitively held by all the Church’s faithful.” This definitive statement leaves no “wiggle room” for those who would like to continue debating the question. As the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith made clear in 1995, the statement that the Church has no authority to ordain women as priests is not merely a matter of Church discipline (which can be changed) but belongs to the deposit of faith (which cannot). “This teaching requires definitive assent, since, founded on the written Word of God, and from the beginning constantly preserved and applied in the Tradition of the Church, it has been set forth infallibly by the ordinary and universal Magisterium (cf. Second Vatican Council, Dogmatic Constitution on the Church Lumen Gentium 25, 2). Thus, in the present circumstances, the Roman Pontiff, exercising his proper office of confirming the brethren (cf. Lk 22:32), has handed on this same teaching by a formal declaration, explicitly stating what is to be held always, everywhere, and by all, as belonging to the deposit of the faith” (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Concerning the Teaching Contained in Ordinatio Sacerdotalis). This Apostolic Letter alludes to the reasons given in the Declaration Inter Insignores, by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in 1976. They include, in addition to the testimony of Scripture and Tradition, the example of Christ, who through counter-cultural in many respects, continued Israel’s tradition of a male priesthood in reserving the Office of Apostle to men. That the Apostles did not regard this as a divine oversight is evident from the fact that they themselves ordained only men. And so the Church has continued this Sacred Tradition down to the present. The question why women can’t be ordained priests is often confused with the issue of equality. The Holy Father has made it clear that men and women (as far as their sex is concerned) are equal before God (e.g., Mulieris Dignitatem 6). But equality isn’t identity. Men and women have different though complementary functions. The priesthood is a male function, for the reason that a priest is an icon of Christ, and Christ is male. St. Paul develops this theme in his parallel between a local church and the family. A “bishop” (or “overseer,” which applied to both bishops and priests in NT times) is expected to keep his own family in order, “for if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how can he care for God’s church?” (1 Tim 3:5) Male headship in the family is an axiom of both Scripture and Tradition, and if the Church is the Household of God, and Christ is Head of the Church, then His headship in the Church can be represented only by men. However, lest it seems that God has honored men above women, we should recall that of all created beings, including the hierarchy of Angels, God raised a Woman to the highest place, the Blessed Virgin Mary. Though she was not an Apostle, she was made Queen of the Apostles, Queen of Angels, Queen of the universe, and the Mother of her own Creator. Answered by David Gregson, PhD

If God meant for women to be priests, he would have been incarnated as a woman, or at the very least, chosen a female Apostle. A priest serves as an icon of Christ, the bridegroom (a clearly male role) of the church. I'm no longer Catholic, being a convert to Eastern Orthodoxy, but our theological reasons for a male-only priesthood are the same
