The Riversdale Rd level crossing is located next to Riversdale station on the Alamein line, in the Melbourne suburb of Camberwell. It is one of three remaining level crossings in Victoria where a tramway crosses a railway on the level. The railway is 1600mm Broad Gauge, and electrified at 1500v DC, while the tram line is 1435mm Standard Gauge, and 600v DC. The crossing is manually controlled from a wooden signal box. The tram line is the Route 70 to Wattle Park, which at the time of filming is served by a mixture of A and B class trams. The Alamein line is run as a shuttle with two three-car trains during the off-peak, with some through trains from the city running during peak hour. It is normally served only by X'trapolis trains.
