Still works! Though, a little tip to anyone else going to do this, from experience. Once you get 2 silex's, *STOP FISHING* I got 5 silex, 3 of them from fishing, 2 from breeding, when i fished up an ABAIA. Abaia are VERY HOSTILE and killed ALL but ONE of my silex. so please, STOP FISHING, once you get 2 of them. just breed them for safety reasons. if you're still gonna fish, do it in some different water 😭

Another way to easily get a flying mount is to cheese lycanite dungeon bosses, just have a small opening to shoot a crossbow with and the soulstone drop from the boss you might get a flying mount. I did this and got an epion on like day 40 ish

This is still working in version 2.9.3, but make sure you are near the beach or a sea biome. Dig a big hole and fill it with water to set up the farm. When you get two silex, separate them with another big hole to avoid other aquatic creatures attacking the silex.

If you're impatient like me, try to look for a body of water which has the silex and build your water pool a couple blocks away, and then lure 2 silex with lapis and let them travel to your pond, which then you block off.

A lot of my friends are crying about the 2.9 update saying it's too hard and they can't progress past early game, but I actually learned a lot from you and I'm just super OP already 5 hours into my game. The best part is that I don't have to rely on my pets and summons anymore to clear battle towers. I love the 2.9 update now that I know how to play. So many QOL changes.

this guide is useful even 2 years later, but my unlucky ass got an Abaia as the second fish, killing the first silex, then nothing for 30 min

I made similar cave pool but I get message - nothingis biting... or something... Tried at the shore of the sea - no silexes I have had like 20 different fish but not silex. I think i will respawn myself some silexes... this is getting tiring! Update: "Spawning. Silex can spawn in any Overwold biome. Can only spawn in water. Every time you catch a fish in water, there is a 4.7% chance of a Silex to spawn". Another important thing - make yourself a farm... Roc needs like 16 of treats and you can make from 6 silexes like 4 of them. So you need at least 24 silexes! Do not feed Roc until you have at least 16-20 (so 24-30 fish)!!!

Oh... so thats why my pond is filled with silex, i started fishing for neptunian and all of a sudden i have tons of this guys everywere... Great content as usual :)

fishing is really good in 2.9 I know a lot of people don't like the mini game... but come on... it's basically safe xp in RLCraft that can get you a heart of diamond for a resist ring or a neptunium ingot for a heart of the sea. Plus in the mean time you can get the saddle you need to make an avian saddle and you can fish up neptunium armor and tools... which are diamond equivalent. also a food source... which... isn't as big a deal but is better than a sharp stick in the eye.

i used to breed them in a small puddle near a swarm i lured them too (using lapis then trapping them in boat) then there was an event that spawned some sort of bees and the hive destroyed the farm they were in because it spawned and overlayed the 6x2 puddle

You seemed to get very lucky with these. I've been fishing and caught about 20 fish, no silex spawns. Does the fishing pond need to be in a specific biome, or do I need to check it or something?

What are the dimensions of you farm? It looks like 3 deep, 3 wide and 6 tall. My farm isn't working.

well 4-5 straight hours of nothing but fishing i finally got 2 silex. Got a few pieces of Neptune's gear and a total of 3 silex spawned within the 4 to 5 hours the first one i got pretty fast but then right after it spawned another fish that killed. So the next one i got like an hour and a half later i boxed in and then about 3 hours later i finally got another one on my very last cast until i was giving up for the night.

This is really helpful, but I do have a question. Is it possible to get silex from less advanced fishing rods? I noticed your rod had enchants on it, so does that affect silex spawning rates? Other than that, great vid!

I made myself a small 4x4x4 area to fish under my base and after fishing for a small bit it says “there doesn’t seem to be anything biting here” should I make a new area or just wait?

Heya ive got non related Q: I bought a 8gb server for rlcraft 2.9 for me and my buddy to play, but its awfully laggy, like fps is dropping to 50 in some places, and when flying sometimes we bounce back. Tried bunch of servers online and they all work fine, but one i bought just seems to not want to run, 8gb should be enough for 2 people no? Render distance is literally at 6 on server side and 2 on client and 50fps inside a big structure... Im not sure what to do, i tried to contact my host support and they just said its issue on my end, but it cant be if other servers i can get 200fps but mine is 50. Any suggestion would be great:P ive pregenerated 1000chunks from centre of world, lowered all spawn rates to almost half, idk what else i could do.

I wish i knew that before losing my dogs to bad wolf AI (them getting distracted to caves) and finding a ventoraptor after 3 in game nights. I had 4 dogs with iron armor and they just get lost sniffing mobs through blockd and never teleport back to you.

ive been fishing for an hour no luck. Do I need to fish in specific biomes? What rod, bobber, hook?

Do the variants give more drops? because when you breed 2 variant ones you get a variant baby so you could farm the variant ones.
