We demonstrate how to successfully rebuild the lower fork tube on a 2015 KTM 300XC-W. Having your lower fork tube leak where it threads on to the casting is very rare, but if you are experiencing this problem this video will help. The process will be the same for pretty much all bike models. It's always good to have your bikes specific service manual on hand to follow the procedures and have access to torque specifications. I have a problem with the fork leaking from the top, I replaced the bottom seals and they don’t leak anymore(thanks to you) but I would like tips on how to eliminate leaking from the top of my fork. Thanks

@@rmatvmc I've tried to pull mine apart, removed the set screw, but still she don't want to come loose. Any ideas, do I use heat?

Where is a source for these WP o-rings? They do not show on the KTM microfiche on RM ATV/MC.

I have a few bent fork tubes on the shelf but the axle clamps are good. Can just the tubes be ordered for replacement? 05 yz250 and 07KX250.

I have a 2001 KTM 400 exc , Both forks have the compression adjuster on top and rebound on each bottom, I noticed while adjusting the rebound with the screw on the bottom both forks they seem to seep oil at the screw. Any Ideas? is there an oring?

Hello! I just picked up a 2001 KTM 200 EXC for $1000. I’ve converted to the 2005 subframe, one piece rear fender, tossed on a 2015 150SX FMF Gold Series Fatty Pipe with FMF Q-Series Spark Arrestor, and literally every single thing is now BRAND NEW on the bike converted to 2007-2015 parts; however, I need to get the factory soft exc suspension serviced. I need it to be able to handle upper- B level Hare-Scrambles, B VET class Motocross and same class for Enduros. I basically would consider it a GNCC/Moto setup? I currently have the 43mm WP forks from the 2001, as well as the 2001 shock. I’ve heard of people tossing in newer CRF250/450 Showa forks or newer Yamaha KYB SSS forks instead of “wasting their time with the WP forks. I would get the stock rear shock sprung and valved for my application. Do you think it would be better to valve and spring the current 43mm WP and stock shock for what I want, or would I be better off with the Showa/KYB SSS and revalve stock shock? Toss on a newer KTM shock? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Thanks for the video. The axle clamp on my 2009 KTM 450EXC has cracked. Fork oil is weeping through the casting on the inside of the axle clamp bore. Any idea where I can source a replacement axle clamp?

*Jens Solbjorg,* yes. Seal mate's can work sometimes. Otherwise, replacing the seal is your next best option.

I need help. The lower seal is leaking and I need to remove the stanchion but there is a set screw I need to loosen but Idk if it's a Phillips screw or a special tool is needed. It's a 2005 yz 250 2t

I believe some forks have set screws holding the lug onto to tube I would also remove the o ring before cleaning.

Dave Taschuk I think there was and they just failed to show that part...why, because for one: that fork stanchion came off wayyy to easy so clearly they already had it disassembled lol and the other reason is because there was a hole for a set screw that hole wouldn’t be there for nothing.

*Jean Splitter,* Correction. This had never been disassembled prior to being fixed. It was that easy to disassemble. This lower fork does not have any set screws. Those holes you are seeing are for the bolts that hold the fork guard on. This was pretty rare that the lower fork was that loose. Not all would be this easy. About removing that o-ring yes, good call *Dave Taschuk!* Thanks

@@rmatvmc KYB forks do have a set screw that is peened over, not that these are KYB but just saying. A video would be super helpful as mine are leaking from the bottom.

My fork tube unthrded itself and completely separated from the axle thing on my gsxr 1000 while I was riding it now idk what to do no fork oil even came out when it happened I'm guessing I can't just thred it back on

Happened to my KX450F 2008. I wasn't able to the forktube out of the axlemount. In result i bought a pair of New lower fork.

You will need to go into the OEM schematic for your bike to find the o-rings. The first link in the description should get you started on the right track. Hope this helps. Thanks!

The thread locker doesn’t create a seal, it just prevents the stanchion from coming loose. The o-ring creates the oil seal. If the manufacturer meant for the thread locker to creat the seal they would have used ptfe thread sealant instead.
