Hi guys - I am from Terre Haute, and have been to many games at the stadium. My grandfather was a season ticket holder for many years and never missed a game. Some things to consider: The stadium was built in the 30's, yes, but the current grandstand is not that old. The stadium was originally built for baseball as well, and the arch was the center of the grandstand behind home plate. The old seating bowl was more circular in shape. So the current rectangular stand is a later addition, and yes it is certainly an odd design. There was at one time a grandstand for the visiting teams across the field, but it has been removed. When I was going to games from 07-12, there was a mound on the visiting side where chairs would be placed, which looked even more silly. Also, the university is keenly aware how dated and really inadequate the stadium is currently. They have tried over the years to make improvements but they simply do not have the budget to modernize the stadium. It is also their desire to leave the stadium and move to an on-campus stadium downtown. However until they get a large influx of donations there is little chance of that happening. Overall, your grade is absolutely fair, it is not a big-time stadium. Just wanted to present some context. Enjoyed your review.

I went to ISU for a couple of years, and attended some games at Memorial. This was from 1979-1981. Tunch Ilkin played at ISU, and later had a long career with the Steelers, as well as their radio broadcaster. Unfortunately he passed away from ALS a few years back. The program was pretty good from the late 70’s to the early 80’s. I live in Las Cruces New Mexico, and the Aggies play in a pretty cool stadium with beautiful views of the organ mountains. Further south about 40 miles away is the Sun Bowl, where UTEP plays. That’s a nice stadium to check out.

Love the video, my granddaughter went to Indiana St and was cheerleader so I went to many games there, it grade was fair I'd say. Wish it had visitors side as well, cant wait to see more videos......need to ho to university of Tennessee soon......best atmosphere I've ever seen at a college football game

Nice stadium review but you were probably being too nice in your grading. It would be great if ISU could build a stadium on campus but there will never be enough funding available. It would be interesting to know how many ISU students typically attend the football games. Many ISU students return home on weekends, and student attendance has historically been low. It's safe to assume the majority attendance were local residents. Your description of the fieldhouse as a "concession stand of a drive in movie theater" was hilarious (and unfortunately accurate)!

Gentlemen. Thank you for your review. I also like to visit college football and basketball stadiums. I was at Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute two days ago and agree with all of your assessments. One of the factors for fan support, I believe, is that this stadium is not on campus. It is located about 2 miles away which not only makes it less accessible for students without transportation but also just does not give off that true campus vibe. In 2015, the president of the university made it clear that they would be making renovations on their basketball and event arena, the Hulman Center, a priority and not Memorial Stadium. However, in the fall of 2019, the athletic department proposed a mulit-phase plan of upgrading on campus sports facilities which includes a possible 8000 seat on campus football stadium. Up to 3 years ago, my alma matter, the University of Illinois, had the worst football training facilities in the Big 10 until our AD recognized that in order to sell recruits to play for a team that has lost more than it has won since the mid-90s, you have to have something to sell to them, and a new facility opened up that is now on par with the rest of the conference. Hopefully, Indiana State can eventually get the on campus football stadium. Loved the review and maybe next year you can review University of Illinois Memorial Stadium. I will gladly show you around.
