Hi Marthyn! Thank you for this - I have had your Bass Drum mastery course for a while now, but this "twitch motion" explanation and description makes me realise that I am in deed on the right (but been a slow path) to the faster Double Bass, at very little 'effort' with 'extreme endurance' - now just to work on controlling it!! Thank you what an excellent video!! Wishing you best on your road to your left foot recovery!

This is also very motivating for me who want to eventually get to improving my speed on the kicks, whenever life isn't too busy that is haha.

I always have trouble starting the technique and then it aounds better as I get rolling. I slowed the video playback down and payed attention to what his foot does. Pretty interesting and helpful!

One thing that helped me was using the twitch and gradually slowing it down to a controllable tempo then slowly increasing back to fast tempo. Over and over. Thanks Martyn, you're videos are the best out there!

Thanks for your insight into the pros of the twitch, I was one of those stuck at 130, slowly balance my control and yeilding results. Fast is fast!

Hey Marthyn. Thanks for your insight in these challenge videos. Through this challenge Ive learned so much and over the past week or two Ive been able to more comfortably play at 140 bpm and even reached peaks of 155 to 160bpm 16ths. Ive learned a lot from watching and listening to your advice. Not super clean yet at 160 but thats the goal at the moment. Feels like progress is slower for me personally but despite that I intend to keep going to get better control of my weak foot. I look forward to seeing more of these challenge videos.

Hi Marthyn! So nice to hear about the "nervous" motion! It seems so nice out of the kit because I actually feel control but feeling frustrated when I try to apply the same motion on the kit. Now I see a chance to seriously apply it on my drumming🤘🏻 Marthyn, do you already uploaded a video explaining this in detail? If not, it would be great! Thanks!!

Thankyou so much for all of your videos Marthyn. I just set up my spring tension as you suggested and it felt like I had new pedals! I’ve been stomping the crap out of my axis longboards for years instead of “letting the pedal do the work “ as you say. Cheers from Australia 👍

Just got some demon drives and found that this technique has drastically increased my stamina and speed and power at those speeds. Same problem with the left wanting to be quicker than the right. Practice Practice Practice

I just bought them too. But I can’t play straight runs without the left pedal sliding. Even with the strips. Does yous slide?

Love to play triplets at 130bpm. So many great songs are played at this tempo. I use the light weight Trick beaters. Tried the DW ones that came with my DW9000s and ended up back with the metal Trick ones with no weights. Dig this series. Cheers!

Always a pleasure Marthyn. I'm looking forward to hearing about any good advices when you get up to higher tempo's. You give so much good information for lower tempo's and for beginners and middle trained drummers and that's super cool no doubt. But I know how fast you can play and I'm so curious about any advice when we go from 240 BPM and up 😁🤘🤘🤘

Is that a HP200 single chain?! 😮 Hi Marthyn, während ich gerade nebenher auf der Suche nach einem günstigen Pedal für den Proberaum bin sehe ich mir mal wieder eines deiner Videos an, um an meiner Technik zu arbeiten. Aber was?

How to get my right foot to stop spazing out. I can't keep steady stream of 8th notes... Meanwhile my left leg is doing just fine.

It would help to slow it down and over exaggerate the motion. Practice lifting your heel all the way up (full range of motion) and down at a slow tempo. *Focus on your problem foot by itself.* Work your way up through slow tempos with that exaggerated motion. If you feel your foot spazzing at a certain tempo make note of that. Try to push past it while staying relaxed bit by bit. Don’t rush it and don’t practice the bad habits! Cheers and good luck!

Why is your kick drum skin so loose? Don't you get better bounce back of the beater if you have a tighter skin? :)
