Best wishes for a speedy recovery! I tore my ligaments in my left foot (i am riding regular) when i was 20 years old. Until today i couldnt do any good kickflips anymore because of my ankle mobilty. ): So i focused on switch and nollie flips more the last 17 years. I recently tried to relearn kickflips again and its hard but i practise them more now. its crazy that fakie flips work better for me as regular flips. All the best for you! Stay strong! My way to prevent injuries is to do use balance boards and foam boards to strengthen my ankles. Also stretching and wearing hi-top shoes help me a lot.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery! I hurt myself three times since April 2023 and every time I “felt off” when I wiped out. Skating is like a form of yoga for me. The body mind connection is incredible.

Wishing you a happy and healthy recovery. Always be safe when skating, I always wear pads although I know it wouldnt have helped with this type of injury. Have a blessed day.

Yes. Keep the series up. I used your old video for an ankle sprain I had 3 years ago. Totally helped me bounce back with all the exercises. The A-B-C's foot rotations, the band work, all of it helped. Looking forward to the "2.0" version.

Get well soon! My ankle looked like that 4 months ago and I can kickflip again. I experienced a premonition very similar to yours before the injury. After 3 weeks on the couch I noticed my fibula was spongy like styrofoam, which I learned was a soft bone callus, meaning I actually broke my fibula and it had already fused back together. I never went to a doctor. About two months ago I started skating again and now I can sesh my local park almost like it never happened. But I usually take 1-3 day breaks between heavier sessions to allow the swelling and soreness to go back down. I think it’s just gonna be a slow healing process this year, no drop skating. Somehow minorly broke my wrist last week so now the ankle will get even more time off lol. Anyways, looking forward to your series. Walker Ryan has a great video on ankle rehab for skaters on the Old Friends youtube channel. Best wishes for your healing journey.

Dam. Sounds gnarly. I would 100% recommend you go see a physio or sports medicine doc. You don't wanna play around with breaks if you want to skate long term. Yehh Dr Kyle and Walker have some great stuff out there. Cheers for the words mate and I hope you heal up quick too!

Bad ankle sprain here too, was super tired, didn't even need to skate anymore, was tired and done. But, then on the way home I saw another spot I usually skate so I was like eh okay fine I'll do some 180s off the 3-stair to keep practicing. I can get it almost everytime, but I want it to be effortless so I did a few of those. Then I'm looking at the 3-stair and I'm like okay, maybe I could land a FS pop shuv-it off it. Earlier in the day I was skating a curb-2 stair practicing pop-shuv its off it and doing a pop shuv it up the curb. I kept hitting this problem of over rotating the board even off a curb. I was landing maybe 1/10 tries on the curb, never should have tried that off a 3-stair or a 2-stair until I had it 9/10 times off the curb and especially not after a hard multi hour session.. but I did and literally no energy left, I went for it a couple times. Last one I over rotated my momentum was forward aggressively.. I landed off the nose and my front ankle, my right as I'm goofy, rolled over hard. I swear I heard a crunch over my music. I immediately stopped, jumped to the stairs, pulled off the shoe/sock and the whole thing was swelling.. by the peak it was 1:1 with yours a bit less bruising though I think. I ended up going to the hospital and they took x-rays, luckily it was only a bad sprain and I had messed up some ligaments. They casted me and I've been slowly recovering over the past 5-days. I feel I could likely take the cast off now and limp, but they told me 2-weeks to be safe. I haven't really had an injury like this before skating and I've been skating for a decade now, off and on, now more intensely. Thank you for making this series as I love skateboarding, but damn this has sucked for a 29 year old with a job, dog, etc.

Sprained my left ankle in July 2023, haven’t been skating since. One thing is the fear of hurting myself the same way again when I step on my board. Would appreciate if you can talk about your experience with those mental issues in the past. Get well soon buddy, I hope quicker than me!
@za7ch

Start slow, you'll get there. I broke my left ankle in July of 22 and didn't get back on the board until around January of 23. It was super depressing as I was(still am) addicted to the board. I remember the fear at first, but that just your mind helping you not repeat your mistakes. Starting slow and taking tiny steps is what got me less anxious about reinjury and less depressed about not being able to enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the words mate 🙏 Will cover the mental side soon. Until then I would try and find the smallest step you can take that you're not scared of - rolling down the street for example - and building from there. Small steps will build confidence and add up
