Our road trip in Tibet does finally start. Today, we went from Lhasa (3656m) to Tuiwa (5070m) the second highest village in the world only 30 meters below La Rinconada in Peru.
The landscape over 4000m is quite incredible, clear skies, shiny blue lakes, and very changeable weather.
Altitude sickness is also paramount, we got oxygen bottles with us, and even the hotel in Tuiwa has the rooms equipped with oxygen machines.
On our way we met incredibly nice people, Tibetan Mastiff dogs, and witnessed a water burial ceremony.
Join me on my journey to the highest village in Tibet :)

The infrastructure in this height must be very difficult to build. The road looks new and well maintained. China has done an incredible job connecting remote areas.

There is a reason: They want to deploy the minerals from Tibet and bring there nuclear plant waste. And where is mining is also natural destruction. So its good business for the Chinese and bad one for the Tibetians.

Delighted you are on this road trip! I traveled on part of this road while it was being excavated in 2007. Landslides from the new cuts into the mountain slopes caused our vehicle to stop & at times even get stuck. We had to get out & stand in the rain while the vehicle became freed. Yes! It is COLD! Even on sunny days in the summer the air is brisk. I loved it there! No altitude sickness problems for me. The beauty is stunning! Love your drone footage, even as the car is moving.

My present level is 97! The growth on the rock by the Lake is a moss, but called a cushion plant, we have one high in the mountains here called Vegetable Sheep, Latin: Raoulia. They grow to 2 meters in width and half a meter high, abouts. Loved the whole journey, no, it isn't easy dealing with Altitude. You have to live/adapt to it.........Magic Yan.......as all ways......

I hiked to Mt Whitney with a friend many years ago. Although I have hiked to several nearby peaks at around 10,000 ft without any problem, I learned the hard way what was AMS from that trip. When we were approaching the peak, my discomfort was getting worse quickly and I felt like my head was about to split into two parts. At the peak of Mt Whitney, I had to urge my friend to shorten the stay on the top. We quickly descended and my "hangover" feeling finally went away.

For people who live in high-altitude areas all year round, the blood oxygen concentration is 80-90%, which is relatively normal. When ordinary people go to high altitude areas, if the blood oxygen concentration is lower than 80%, they will experience altitude sickness. If the blood oxygen concentration is lower than 75%, it is very dangerous. The blood oxygen concentration of 75% is almost the limit of human beings. Tibet is full of high-altitude areas above 5,000 meters above sea level, so prepare more oxygen and take care of your body. I hope to continue to see your next video.
