I’m not a huge fan of his music, and some of his movies were misses for me, but Rob Zombie has always seemed like a real genuine guy, and he is talented for sure. 1,000 Corpses is a fun, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2/Eaten Alive style throwback and considering around the time it came out, it was nearing the end of the bloodless, teen-slasher craze, it was a nice change of pace. @@andybaxter4442 Your buddy is insulting Zombie by saying he wasted his potential. Zombie chose what he wanted because he enjoyed it. Too many people try to people please and have lost the ability to even want things for themselves besides what others dictate we should want. I went through a stage in high school where I actually thought about this and it hurt to know that I was one of those people. I don't even know if who I am and what I want now is me or just what I think should be me after that realization. Man, there's something about his films. My best friend growing up loved horror and he would make me watch tons and tons of it with him, I could take or leave most of it, but The Devil's Rejects was the first one that really stuck with me. I can't say I enjoyed it; it actually made me feel a little sick tbh. But it was utterly fascinating to 12 year old me. House of a 1000 corpses as well. That's the moment I "got" horror movies and why fans of the genre just dive completely into it. I've maybe watched it twice, and it's been over a decade since I last saw either of those movies, but there's multiple scenes I remember clear as day and might never forget. As a preteen and young teen me and this friend watched literally hundreds of horror movies; from the mainstream summer blockbuster hits to the most niche obscure fucked up shit we could find. 99% I've forgotten completely, but those two Rob Zombie films stick out in my memory big time (as well as this indie flick Long Pig, but for different reasons).

Dear Rob Zombie, your 2007 film Halloween is an unrivaled masterpiece to this day. As a big Michael Myers fan like many others, I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for your hard work and I would like to thank each and every one of your team who worked on the film. Jason Blum and David Gordon Green have come nowhere near achieving what you have created.
@taylorhession1905 Жыл бұрын
Thats an unpopular opinion these days, however my opinion aligns with yours somewhat. I agree that his Halloween is an unrivaled masterpiece but thanks to Carpenter, who I assume is his way of being a hater of his success from the 1st Rob Zombie Halloween being more successful than any of his installments even though he was cool with Rob remaking it then turned around and trashed his vision of the movie even though Rob did exactly as he said make it his own movie without taking away from the story. Also Dimension, which I assumed after hearing Carpenter's distaste for his first Halloween decided to come in and take over Halloween 2 and screwed Rob over which is why Rob said he was done after part 2 and it turned out no where near as good as his 1st. Since then Rob has caught a bad rep as a director and writer. Now for the Blumhouse movies they're good movies and even better than Carpenter's 3rd forward movies but they don't touch Rob's 1st Halloween.

Rob Zombie movies are quite possibly the best in horror movies today. Granted, his movies are not for everyone, but if you get it, you get it. One thing that sets his movies and music apart from the mainstream is that he has a vision from beginning to end, and he doesn't care about " mainstream " so he can't be bought.

@aisforannihilation16623 жыл бұрын
I know. I think of house of 1000 corpses, devils rejects & halloween remake (1st, not 2nd) & go, "this guy really gets creepy down to its core". Great, witty villains that r brutal & terrifyingly dark yet terrific. Music & sounds carry the vibe, great sets & props & a gift for brutality that is more intelligent than slasher. Halloween was incredible for me as I was always story horror over slasher flicks, especially with memorable villains & a good revenge story & he nailed the "why Michael was the way he was" story & made it so dark & brutal & less mindless slasher. Halloween was a classic but I just love where he took it. Didn't love halloween 2 tho but had its moments
