The whole point of the Munsters is that they didnt know they were weird. They tried to fit in and the responses to their appearances was funny.

I’m just going to say it, I really liked Sheri as Lily. I was surprised myself but I’d argue that this was one of the few roles Rob Zombie actually correctly cast his wife in.

Anyone who has watched the original Musters as many times as Zombie says he has would never have made such a terrible movie like he has, it's so bad I couldn't finish watching it.

Daniel Roebuck was probably the best character in it. Sheri Moon actually did a decent job as Lily. Herman is the biggest negative for me, he was ok when he was playing it more subtle but ruined when he goes over the top. Honestly the origin should've only been 20-30 minutes of the film, the Mockingbird heights portion was way more interesting(also no neon,just technicolor). It wasn't as bad as i thought,but not as good as it could've been. I've certainly seen worse

I remember Zombie saying that "the Haunted World of El Superbeasto" was the funniest thing he ever did. THAT movie was a slog to get through, regardless of how many references and animated breasts were thrown in.

The idea had so much potential. I was hoping for a gritty PG-13 version. You know, like 1991's/1993's Addams Family [Values] but with the Munsters source material.

I watched the movie and I'm gonna be honest I enjoyed it like it wasn't a good story but u can tell the love he has for the characters in this movie and also it was just fun for me to watch this movie as a fan of the original show I just had so much fun with it lots of ppl won't but I did I will admit tho zombie didn't do a good job with his Halloween movies, 3 from hell, or his animated thing but I like the first two of the Firefly trilogy, 31, and lord's of salem

The whole movie looks so incredibly cheap and nasty. It literally looks like it was filmed on a cheap, crappy digital camera.

The Adams Family movies worked back in the day because they invested everything into giving the classic original it’s full respect and recreating it in then modern times while keeping it as true to the original as they could. This film wasn’t gonna work the moment it was announced Rob Zombie was behind it, because he doesn’t respect the business side of it, he’s always gotta satisfy his wife and friends who have acted in his previous films, which may work for some in his original films (I for one can’t stand any of his films besides his first film) but when coming to recreating a classic film/show, you gotta dig deep to make sure you bring the original to life as much as possible and treat it with the upmost respect. He failed miserably here. Sherri has absolutely zero in common with Yvonne Decarlo, and besides being unable to act to save her life, she was a total miscasting before even seeing her as Lilly, and after seeing it, OMG!!! 🤮 The actor playing Hermon was seen by RZ playing a caveman from the Geico commercials, and zombie found it funny, so he started casting him in his films. And for a 5 minute onscreen hillbilly who’s just there as another body to the kill count, sure, that works. But to try and make him a all time classic character that was brought to life from a talented beloved actor who 100% made that character, it’s movie $uicide!

Zombie’s wife is a leading role so no thanks.

I bought this movie from Wal-Mart yesterday and i will agree 100% with what you said. Everything was awesome except the pacing. If the pacing was sped up just a tad and the jokes were more "Punchy", it would have been a masterpiece. But it still wasn't "Terrible" like all the people reviewing it based on the trailer a few months ago would have you believe. It was a better attempt at getting the characters and feel of the original show "right" than even "Munsters Go Home" or the many other Munster's movie remakes, reboots or releases since the original show. But I will say that "The Munsters" seems to be plagued with a strange issue that doesn't seem to happen with "The Addams Family". For the Addams Family, any production after the original 1964 show was a hit. For the Munsters, anything after the 1964 TV show was a hit with a capital "S". So why is that? Why can't any studio or production house capture that original Munster's vibe, even enough to give a 1/2 decent film in the end? Why the curse?

From the clips we've seen so far this looks like an extended Saturday Night Live or Mad TV skit.

I really liked Rob Zombie’s The Munsters to spite some of the reviews saying it wasn’t good. Jeff Daniel Phillips was really good as Herman. The guy that played Grandpa was great too sounded just like him! And Sheri was alright as Lilly.

Movie was pure nostalgia and perfect for getting kids into the Halloween spirit, not a blockbuster but a campy little Special.

I liked it quite a bit. Not nearly as bad as I expected it to be. I thought it was entertaining. I actually would love a sequel because I thought some of the best stuff was in the last 10 minutes when they get to Mockingbird Lane and would love to see what RZ would do with a more straightforward Munsters movie. My only real complaint is that it did drag a bit in spots. I feel like they could have cut about 10-20 minutes and it would have been better paced overall. But, I really liked it. I'll watch it again.

The production quality for this reminds me of something like beetleborgs. Or rather a cheap made for TV movie you’d probably catch around Halloween time on abc family or fox kids.

I liked it. The lighting was great the way it accents the set & characters. It's one of those films people won't appreciate til later and will have a cult following with old school horror fans .. although a little long of a film i think. least that's my opinion ..

Just because someone loves something, and knows everything about it, and can recite dozens of lines from memory, doesn't mean they can make a good movie about it. Rob Zombie is the prime example of this. He is a super fan, but he is not a good film maker. His music, I like; his movies, not so much.

I really thought Zombie would bring a lot more dark humor and grit to this. I really didn't expect something that would have a Tim Burton color palate and Monkees style humor.

I just finished watching it. I was expecting horrible trash but it wasn't. It wasn't great but it's not the dumpster fire that everyone is saying it is. My biggest criticism is the voice that the actor playing Herman Munster is using. I'm not sure what he was going for there, but it didn't work. His laugh was close to the original but the voice was way off. The other two were good. The movie spent a lot of time in Translvania and some of the stuff there was pretty entertaining but I kept waiting for them to get to Mockingbird Heights and when they finally got there they spent a brief time there and it was over which left me a bit disappointed. Not much of a story other how Lilly and Herman met and why they ended up moving to America. The ending was a bit weird because it made the Munster come off as Greedy and although there were plenty of episodes in the original show where money was involved they never came across as greedy. The entire film was missing that heart that the original show had. That being said though I think the sets in this were incredible. I've seen many people criticising the look of the film but I think that's the best part of the movie. It does have a 'made for tv' look to it but I'll be surprised if that's not what Zombie was going for. Overall, I thought it was fine. The only thing that I found annoying was Herman's voice and how long it took to get to Mockingbird Heights.

It seems like folks that criticize Halloween really don't understand what kind of home that makes a killer in reality. Still harping on it to this day and never understanding the reason he filmed it the way he did.

I watched it for barely 30 minutes and that was a @#$%in struggle! Not remotely funny or entertaining!

I enjoyed it for what it is. I went in expecting to hate it and didn't. Daniel Roebuck was great as The Count (Grandpa). It was a tad bit long.

I knew this was gonna be bad just from the first 2 seconds of the trailer. I feel like Zombie got rich, older and boring 😴 lost his good idea's years ago. Even before I saw the Halloween remake I was board, hoping he would do something new.

We all as Munster fans know Herman and how he's portrayed. Making him any different is a crime. Good cinematography but that's about all for me.

It was bad, credit to Zombie or getting out of his comfort zone and trying something different but I think some last minute changes in the script would have made it batter and let the actors put a little bit of their own flavor into their characters rather than make it a homage to the original cast members.

I just watched this whole movie. It was very good. Zombie did his own thing, while paying a great homage to the original. The only homage that was lacking was Zombo. Sure he did take his Crumble Creature Crackers and destroy them in the bowl. But he didn't take his milk, and drown them.

I think screenwriters have more to work with for Addams Family (being that it was a comic strip first). They have more flexibility. There is no way to make a faithful adaptation of a creation that began as a television series without trouncing all over the characters. The original actors are the Munsters. Anyone else will always be second rate.

It's unfortunate that he went with a much more softer approach. He should've went with a Adam's family 1990s quick witteds or Beetlejuice comedy. Where it's more dirty humor. But not to the point where you feel uncomfortable.

Wanting to make a film where the subject is something you are passionate about is fine, but you still have to have a script that is compelling enough to create a story. It's not enough to be a fan of the source material, and it's clear that beyond a strong desire to make this, Rob Zombie never had a clue what to do once he got the green light to do it. He's a terrible director, and i don't know how he continues to get support to make movies. It's almost as if he makes movies just to get his wife acting roles.

I lasted a out 8-10 minutes on first episode and almost died of cringe. I used to love the old black and white reruns as a kid so i thought why not…..i almost went to the attic to see if there was any asbestos to eat.

The original Munsters show is great, so it's definitely going to be tough to match the charm and humor of the original cast, especially Fred Gwynne's unique voice and style. I've never heard a close match of his voice as Fred Munster yet.

I kind of liked it, the pacing was a bit slow and the dialogue was meh but I really liked the colors, the detail and the style of the movie, I can see it being a cult classic later

Zombie is such a cheesy geek but I love this music and a couple of his films.

The main issue with it is - its not funny at all but the make up effects / visuals is great. With all the crazy visuals I think he should of shot it in 3D or just make it modern edgy with bit more horror.

I just didn’t like the ending , i feel like it ended so abruptly… I did expect better, being that Rob Zombie tends to do things more on the gore side… but I wouldn’t go as far as to say this was horrible 🤷🏻‍♀️

Seems like Zombie spent some time with Rodriguez the other Rob on how to get a PG movie franchise up and running, sorry Rob I think the different period in time might work against you, not the Munsters timeline but these times he's trying to make them, but we never know if it's 3-D also and with those colors it might be a fun experiment in film.
