Bridgetown Aikido and Western Aikido Associatin are pleased to present Robert Frager Sensei (7th Dan Aikikai) seminar.
The first session will be on the Floating Bridge of Heaven and will
include quotes and photos of O sensei, and discussion of how we might
achieve at least a taste of this ideal.
O sensei wrote, “To practice Aikido you have to be standing on the
Floating Bridge of Heaven. If you are not standing on the Bridge, you
can not practice Aikido.” Clearly the Floating Bridge of Heaven was of
central importance in O sensei’s vision of Aikido.
The Floating Bridge of Heaven can be found in the Kojiki, a chronicle
of ancient Japanese myths, legends and history dating back back to 641
AD. It is the oldest scripture in Japan.
The Floating Bridge of Heaven is the place of profound creativity,
unification of masculine and feminine, and interaction of yin and
yang. It is a threshold between heaven and earth, a “place-between”
which is filled with unlimited possibility.

Robert Frager Sensei has been practicing Aikido for over
55 years. Frager Sensei became a personal student of the founder of
Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, while living in Tokyo from 1964 to 1967, and
training seven days a week. He was a direct student of Michio
Hikitsuchi (10th dan) in the 1970s, Hiroshi Kato Sensei in the 1990s
and 2000s. He is the president of the Western Aikido Association, our
direct link to Aikikai Foundation in Tokyo, Japan.
Frager Sensei is a Harvard-trained psychologist and the founder of the
Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, a graduate university. He is
renowned for his pioneering work in the field of Transpersonal
Psychology and for his role in establishing the country's first
educational institution devoted to integration of mind, body and
spirit.
