He was also in a episode of Upstairs Downstairs and their final season. He was wonderful in that role too.

I always remember you. Sad to know you have left us. You and Alf Wight´s stories have filled my heart and soul with great emotions and given infinite space to my imagination. You and Mr. Wight will always be with me. Rest in peace Robert

I have fond memories of him in the “All creatures great and small” television series. His acting was superb and many a time he brought tears of laughter as well as sadness to my eyes as I followed every episode. RIP Siegfried Farnon!

He was also a formidable academic and expert on the longbow... I was lucky enough to share a marks shoot with him some years ago, (in which he bombed around the field in a mobility scooter!) and to be at the Longbow Shop for his talk on the longbow. RIP Robert Hardy.

Beneath his extraordinary theatrical gifts, there always seemed to be a real person who was also connecting to you. Unique and outstanding. Bravo to a life well lived, and thank you. Wishing you always-well, but can't help feeling sad.

I first remember him as Henry V in "An Age of Kings". i was 11 when I saw it and his performance left me with a lasting love of both History and Shakespeare. RIP to a fine actor and gentleman.

One of THE best actors i've ever seen on TV. Love his absolutely fabulous, full of hidden humor portrait of Siegfried Farnon ofcourse. Seeing him play through the years he seemed to be timeless and never aging. So still living on he is no doubt..

So funny. He played the role of Senior vet so incredibly well , it's the only time I associate with him. He brought joy to so many. There will never, ever be another Sigfried Farnon.

He had that special something that made you want to know him . Charming, gruff , robustly handsome with a finesse and tenderness . I found him irresistible as dr farnon. Rest in peace dear man.

A very talented & fine actor. I remember him in Edward VII as Prince Albert. His scenes with Annette Crosbie as Queen Victoria were awesome.

The funny thing in your excellent tribute, was that you omitted his role as Siegfried in "All Creatures Great and Small", which ran for many, many years. This is perhaps where most people recognised his face and voice.
