Peggy Holds a degree in Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising from Brigham Young University. As a mother to four sons, Peggy spends her time divided between teaching and creating new patterns for Silhouette Patterns, a line of contemporary patterns available to the home sewer. During her career she has taught college courses in pattern drafting and design. She professionally drafts patterns for individuals and manufacturers all across the country ranging from golf apparel to black tie performances. In addition to apparel designs, Peggy has designed the patterns of the costumes worn by the Mens Olympic Figure Skating Gold Medalist, Elvis Stojko.

I always wanted to learn how to bead this way... I've beaded on clothes but saw this on one of the fashion desiners documentary. Fell in love in learning since then.

In the Carlota Alfaro School of Patterns and Design, in Puerto Rico,they offered a beading class similar to the one here.Beautiful and time -consuming,too.

Interesting, the sewing machines he referred to are right hand dominate since the chainstitch embroidery sewing machines are steered from below by a handle. They are also having a big following. I wanted one since I learned about them in grad school. The Bonaz machines were invented because of the labor intensive time consuming work of tambour beading. The first ones invented were destroyed by works who feared they would lose their jobs to machines but you still need a human to operate the machine!

This is not called Tambour. Tambour is the Indian name when the beads are loaded onto the needle. When the beads are loaded onto the thread from underneath, that’s the French way and it’s called Luneville.
