Today I am reviewing Scottish Cake by Robert McConnell. This is a Virginia, Perique, Kentucky blend but I don't get a heavy Kentucky in the profile. It acts more as an amplifier to the other VaPer flavors. This is a masterpiece of a mixture to my taste buds. I can't wait to try the other version Scottish Flake.

Hiyas Andy, Thanks for a deep dive review of this blend. I have some jarred up in the cellar and you definitely sparked my interest to revisit it. I have fallen in love with Rattray's "Trinity blends" of Virginia/Dark Fired Kentucky/Perique blends: Old Gowrie, Hal O' the Wynd and Brown Clunee. There are so many more excellent blends to try down the road..😊 Serene smokes, Gary

Well, take my suggestion with a grain of salt. I'm still a noob pipe smoker, but this one is special to me. Let me know what you think if you end up trying it. I have two of those three. Thumbs up from Amsterdam! Very amused by you describing the end of your bowl as being a chargrilled Jalapenoburger with a zippy, tangy BBQ-sauce on top....with some baked beans. I don't think I've ever had any baked beans before, so I dont know exactly what they taste like, but you make them sound deeeelish my friend. Cheers!

Thanks for the kind words. Sounds strange, but that's what the smoke was reminding me of. Baked beans are great. It's a soft bean, usually in a seasoned sauce. They sell them in cans here in the states, and I like to rinse them off and make my own sauce for them. Hope to see you around friend. Cheers, Andy.

How do you make your labels for the mason jar lids?

I print a picture of the tin on my computer and then cut that out and glue it to the top of the mason jar lid. Check out the video by Hobbiton Piper. That's where I learned it from.
