I bought a record collection recently that included some mint 80's rock and metal. It averaged out to around $5 each. Check out this first part in a short series.

When I was a kid in the early 00’s I found an abandoned truck full of 80s metal. Still have a sealed copy of that LA Guns record I found there. I can’t imagine how many great records i left behind.

Sometime around 86 or 87 I abandoned hair metal and starting getting more into.classic rock from 60s and 70s. I liked dokken, motley crue whitesnake, keel. But by 88 I was done with that stuff. Kingdom come were zeppitators. I did like do u like it from their second album. I had both of their first cassettes back in the day. Kingdom come is still around. My coworker is in a band and recently opened up for them. I graduated high school in 89. So this certainly my era.

Wow some killer 80’s metal records here! I remember me and my crew back in the day loved that LA Guns LP almost as much as GNR Appetite! We had a Holy Trinity of Sleaze Rock with GNR Appetite, LA Guns and Faster Pussycat! Love that Britny Fox record! Thats not an easy one to come by! Great record! One of my fave albums from that era! Even the cheesy songs! However I was not a fan of Kingdom Come I mean the fact that they were a total Zep copy was not lost on us Metalheads back then! “Kingdom Come in Your Face” LMFAO! I always ask first?!? What do you say? “May I please come in your face? LoL! Great pick up on that Decline of Western Civilization ST! That movie was amazing! So fun! Dude are you serious? That Roky Erickson track on RotLD ST is one of the best songs on there! That scene in the movie is incredible! Great pick ups Mr Fithen! ✨✌️👽✨

It was incredible to get this collection. Well yes, I mean I usually say "can" instead of "may" to keep is less formal sounding event though it's grammatically incorrect. I also don't say "please" for the risk of sounding like I'm begging. Rarely was the answer "no". You never know unless you ask! lol A lot of people are commenting that they really liked that Roky Erickson song.

That Cinderella album "Night Songs" reminds me of New Years Eve 1986 heading into 1987. I went to some party and the guy hosting it was like "I found this killer album. These are guys who look like girls, who sing like guys." I welcomed in 1987 hearing "Somebody Save Me". Yeah, it does not get more 80's than that!!

The best part about Girlschool's Hit & Run is the song Take It All The Way. If that's what it is called. But I swear she's singing "We got chicken, on the way." Speaking of Freddy. Do you got his rock and roll album? I remember that album piled up in our record stores. Probably ended up being 99 cents still sealed. Been meaning to watch all 3 Decline movies. Not sure what extras are in the box set they released a couple or few uears ago. But I never seen the 3rd one. That soundtrack for #2 used to also be one of those 99 cent delete bin cassettes. Not sure where that store scored them all, but it was like there was 20 or 25 copies of everything. Another weird one was the Charles Mason tape of Lie. Speaking of Winger. I remember Beavis once caught a Stuartfish on maybe the Couch Surfing episode.

The name "Sahara" appears in the lower right hand section of the album cover. The band initially wanted to call themselves "Sahara", but that name was taken by another band at the time. Though they ultimately chose the name Winger, "Sahara" remained on the cover.

Regarding Nuclear Assault lyrics being aimed at kids and their parents telling them what to do. I'm 49 and my 84 year old Mum she's still doing that lol. It's weird that I saw Nuclear Assault 4 times locally in England, I always presumed they were from UK because they were on line-up's with UK thrash bands every time I saw them. My friends brother auditioned as guitarist for them but didn't get in. He ended up playing with a band called D.A.M. who had some success but not the level of Nuclear Assault.

Great score Robert!! I agree with all your assessments of those records, and I was a total metalhead for what it’s worth. Avoided Britney Fox for the same reason as you. The 45 Grave song was in the TV commercial for Return of the Living Dead. It was on TV all the time the month before the release. The song’s been stuck in my head since I was 14. Took me over three decades til I actually owned it and heard the full soundtrack version. Enjoyed the video! Hope you’re doing well! Cheers, Jon

Girlschool were quite popular here in Europe. Saw them open for Motorhead, they also had a UK hit single playing with them. Their popularity started to wane when they wanted to get a more American sound ( we call it the Def Leppard "Pyromania" syndrome) and failed. They even released an album for the US market only but apparently nobody seemed to care. Their first 3 albums are all worth having (Demolition, Hit&Run, Screaming Blue Murder).

Hi Robert - Did you realise that Girlschool came close to a number 1 single in UK? - A collaboration 'EP' with Motorhead called the "St. Valentine's Day Massacre". Called themselves 'Headgirl' while playing together. The track that got all the radio airplay was a cover of 'Please Don't Touch' (Johnny Kidd and Pirates) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qb92qrFe0Zqaomw.html Got to about 4 or 5 on the official BBC chart, but did make no.1 on the alternative unofficial 'Network Chart' used by independent radio stations in UK at the time. The flip-side of the EP had Girlschool covering Motorhead's 'Bomber' - And Motorhead covering Girlschool's 'Emergency' I bought the vinyl EP when it was in the charts, and still have it in my collection.

The same. Decent music, but the constant Led Zeppelin mimicking is distracting. At least on the first album I'm not that familiar with later releases. I remember when in was first out, people my age were telling me I'd love it because they sound just like a band that I like. I was thinking that's not the reason I get into a band. I enjoy new bands that don't sound like anyone else.

@@RobertFithen I could not agree more, people assumed Led Zeppelin fans would eat it up, but it was the opposite for me because of how literally he just did Robert Plant it’s so blatant and beyond distracting

sorry but your look is more of a early 80´s breakdancer and rap singer or tellin`it how it is, not to ofend, i had a friend who was a real metal head but when older he went to the concerts with a lacoste pink pullover and a yellow burberries shirt using of course chinos from lee and sail shoes from a brand i can´t remenber ,all looked at him in the concert but he was 2 meters high very strong and a face that could scare anyone byut he liked to sing along with the songs so he could have been a metal band singer as he singed perfectelly lot´s of metal bands like Slayer, early metallica albuns , Death, and celtic frost, his favorite bands ,now something diferent he´s the only person i know that as ride the lightening in green instead of blue ,does that mean any thing ,i used to say that if he showed the record to a metal store he might have right to some award as it was the only i ever saw and not fake

Some of latter period hair metal bands were just atrocious. Trixter, warrant, winger, white lion, slaughter firehouse, danger danger ,stryper even poison. Most of them that came out after 86 were just gawd awful. It started out cool. Bands like ratt fastway, dokken triumph krokus,y@T. I even liked motley crue at first. Same with bon Jovi. Then it just came 110% cheese fest. They all had the same formula and of course a power ballad. Then around 1991 the title wave came and just washed all those bands right off the planet. The beginning of grunge. Even established bands like maiden and priest broke up or their singers left. Same with motley crue.

@RobertFithen I only liked def leppards first 3 albums. I liked whitesnakes early albums up until slide it in. I liked the 87 album at first, but overplayed. I wasn't a fan of 80s non make up KISS. Even Aerosmith cheesed out after permanent vacation. Alice cooper's mid to late 80s albums were awful. I wasn't a fan a fan of the turbo album by judas priest.

@@RobertFithen Still not a grade you should use on second hand records. Mint records are often rumored but rarely seen, Mint should never be used as a grade unless more than one person agrees that the record or sleeve truly is in this condition. Use Near mint instead. A good description of a NM record is “it looks like it just came from a retail store and it was opened for the first time.” In other words, it’s nearly perfect. Many dealers won’t use a grade higher than this, implying (perhaps correctly) that no record or sleeve is ever truly perfect. My point here is just stop using the term Mint. Because these records really does not exist. Specially when buying them used. You could perhaps get away and use the term mint on a sealed record. But you truly dont know do you. It could be warped.

@@RobertFithen Just pointing out that the term mint when it comes to records are often wrong. If the record is even played once it is not mint anymore. So the term should really not be used at all. At least not for used records. Not arguing. Just pointing out a fact. I know you have been collecting for decades. I watch your channel 🙂, Thats why you should really know this. And maybe even educate your followers. The grade is being misused by resellers all the time.
