I absolutely love my PRX1'S . I did the update and tried our the TWS, and it worked good. They definitely put out a lot of sound for the footprint. And that bass🔊 . I got mine when they first came out and had no desire to get rid of them. Great video!

Awesome review! It was very thorough and informative. I too had the issue with the red clipping light. It's very irritating and leads you to believe that your speaker will be damaged. I did a factory reset and noticed that it stopped. I was about to sell them for that reason but after doing the system reset it's a whole new speaker. I really enjoy the convenience and sound of the JBL Eon One MK II. Thank you again!

I have the same speakers. I’ve used them For 80 percent of my gigs. They really put out a full sound. Con’s: I wish you could raise the tops a bit higher to fill a little further in the room. They hit hard a focus great full sound on the dance floor but like you said they need a fill in the back for larger spaces. Cons: the tops are very wobbly. Drives me nuts. I’ve used mine for a solid 100 events and they perform always!

Great review I been happy with my prx ones I’m a DJ but I also have expectations that are appropriate prx ones are essentially basic 12 inch tops without a horn in terms of performance if you look at it that way it’s becomes very clear what they are meant for. If you would not use just a pair 12 inch 2 way tops then don’t use the prx ones. And even then I referenced lower tier tops not the high end pro wood box prx ekx type tops. They are a tool and for a dj they are appropriate for under 100 people in a dance party. Background music type stuff I use they all day. I in fact used them last year at the zoo 150 people outdoors and they were great but the expectation was very low volumes.

Thanks for watching. Absolutely, in the end it's a 12" sub with a column of 2.5" drivers, so that should tell anyone all they need to know about the sub. However, using the Sub Synth effect really helps fill out the bottom end. When I'm outdoors I use a 2600 watt 15" Sub and that helps fill the area with bass. Cheers.

Hi Robert, I just watched your video and its very informative thanks for that! Just a quick question, for a Function Area that seats 100 persons, can one Eon One MkII cover the sound needs of the Function Area? (The function Area is enclosed) If not, can you provide your recommendation? Also, would you know if the Eon One MkII can pair with the JBL Partybox? Thanks again!
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm 2 ай бұрын
Hello. I don't know if it can pair with the party box, because I don't have one. If the party box supports JBL's TWS function true wireless stereo, then yes. But, if the party box has an XLR input, which I'm pretty sure it does. Or at least I think it does, then you could just run the throughput out from the Eon One into the in on the party box. Problem solved. Will it cover a function of 100 people? Indoors? Yes, absolutely. But it won't be a dance floor covered with 100 people. Does that make sense? So if you were giving a lecture or having a small performance on an acoustic guitar plugged in or even an electric guitar run through the PA, it would work great. If you were going to use it to Mike a live performance where you had several performers with lavalier wireless microphones on them running into the mixing section of the Eon one Mark II, and people were going to be seated around it like you would think for an auditorium or something like that, yeah absolutely. If you were trying to run a party with it and you wanted a lot of bass, no that wouldn't come through too much. The speaker has a good amount of base for what it is, remember it's a 10-in subwoofer in that thing. So keep your expectations in check when you use it. It produces a good amount of base, but base gets soaked up by the audience the closer they are. So if the audience is actually people dancing on the dance floor, your base will get soaked up pretty quick by the people that are closest to you. You can check the manual for more information about the spread of the base specifically. It's polar pattern is 360° and you drop I think 15 decibels within the first 20 feet and then another 15 after that for base. I'm not quite sure I don't remember right off the top of my head. I've used it in all of these situations, but for me I would use a couple of them if possible or mix it with something that could give me a little extra. The high end treble and mids will go right over the crowd and fill the whole room. You might start to feel a little thin if you're trying to crank a party with this thing. But if you're running music for a wedding reception cocktail hour, then yeah it'll do great and sound wonderful. I think it really depends on your use case. I've used it for corporate events and others, and feeling a room of 100 people or an area that those people are in doors it works fine. Just remember if you're trying to pump the base, it's a 10-in subwoofer, it doesn't thump thump thump. Good luck.

Great review! Which would you recommend for the beach and parties between the JBL PRX One and the JBL Ultimate PartyBox? I'm looking for rich sound with strong bass.
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm 2 ай бұрын
That's tought onsay because I haven't use the ultimate party box. Looking at the specs, the party box has 1100 watts RMS, which is continuous power. That's excellent. The PRX1 is 1,000 w RMS and 2000 w peak. So they're very very similar there. The difference between 1100 watts and 1,000 Watts is literally 1/10 of a decibel I believe. That's not a big deal. And maybe one decibel. In any event, it won't be noticeable. But you are getting are two 9 in subs in the party box compared to one 12-in sub in the PRX1. All other speakers included are there to help clarity in the mid-range. I think these will perform very similar. I do also think they serve two different purposes, and I could see why you would want both. The IPX4 water resistant splash rating gives you no dust protection. That's what the x is all about. No dust protection but splash protection which is the four in the code. In any event, using this on the beach would still get dust inside of it. So it's really designed for poolside use, not rain or wet weather. That brings the two units very close together in environmental usage, but obviously splash protection is important. However, I've used my PRX ones by pools and haven't had any problems. I think if you want to save some cash, the party box will probably perform just as well as the PRX1, and I think the PRX1 may be a little better, but the benefits you will see will be on the input output and connectivity side. Like, if you were trying to be a gigging DJ for weddings, the stuff that I do, you would probably want to build your kit out with the PRX1 first, and then after you have a couple of those pick up a party box for when they're necessary. If you're someone that wants to be the life of the party at the pool, do a little DJ and on the side, make some stuff have some fun, maybe the party box is for you. I don't think you could be a DJ with just the party box ultimate as your speaker system. Not because it's not capable, but because maybe your clients wouldn't see you as serious. But that's just a speculation, it's all in marketing at that point. If you're trying to build out a DJ business, I think you can go with other speaker systems to get you started. I would seriously look at the Alto Tru Sonic series. I used to really dislike those speakers, but it seems like they did some changes to their construction of their subs a couple years ago, and I have purchased their subs recently with that new construction, and they have really been great. I have even considered picking up a pair of tops just to have some extras because the price is so low compared to JBL. You don't get the brand recognition with Alto just yet, but in everything I've heard, and testing out some 15 tops, I have really liked that sound. They also have a column array system, but I have not tried that out yet. I can tell you one thing, I bought their $500 sub as an extra to go along with a 718 JBL, and I think anyone would have a hard time telling them apart. I really like what Truth Sonic is doing with their subs recently. I hope this helps.

Thanks to your recommendation, I upgraded to a PRX. I'm really more satisfied in every way. Thank you. I have a question. I didn't turn up the volume much, but I'm curious about whether a slight white noise phenomenon or a slight wave sound can be produced by any speaker.

Maybe with the rebel maxed as well as the channel gain and overall volume. It hasn't been something I have noticed with the PRX. I have noticed it slightly on the EON, however. Cheers.

Very nice in depth video! The ease of use for the EQ presets is what has me interested in this speaker. Do you think that the designated presets of compression, EQ, and effects sound decent for guitar and vocals?
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm 9 ай бұрын
Yes, absolutely, the effects and EQ work as expected. The presets are very good to excellent depending on what you are looking for when thinking about guitar. The Acoustic Guitar preset EQ is a good start. I find that for electric, you need to so a lot more work because an electric guitar has a passive pickup, so running it through needs more fone tuning. This is echoed by JBL not giving an electric preset. Consider that electric guitar amps are not full range amps (that I can think of) and an acoustic guitar is a full range instrument, it makes sense that JBL would have a preset because it's a full range flat speaker. So, if you can think of it that way, tou will then understand that the effects sound wonderful on an acoustic electric, but leave a something to be desired (without diving into the effect settings and EQ parameters) when using an electric. The JBL control app is the best way to tweak an electric guitar sound. On a good note, there's choirs, reverb, delay, compression.. all of those effects are available. And there are several types of reverb to choose from, Hall and spring being my favorites, with about 8 individual setting within to further customize. There's more, but that's all I'll say for not. Good luck.

Rob question for you , I have the Eon one mk2 with the updates since it gave me issues and I just got it back, can I pair the EOn one with the PRX one since I only do event for 100 people or less ( either outside or inside) versus taking my RCFs or Mackie DRMs with a speaker stand
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm 18 күн бұрын
Yes. You can do that. My first purchase was a the PRX1 and Eon1mk2 to use as a pair. That worked well for smaller weddings in smaller rooms. But you really want 2x PRX1 and the use the Eon1mk2 as a second zone or back or reception speaker to help add volume to the back of the room. The only thing that's lacking is that really hard hitting base that only a sub provides. Don't get me wrong, the PRX1 It's really great for what it does. But at the end of the day it's just a 12 sub. So, I picked up an Alto TS15s sub and it's amazing. My buddy's got a JBL 718 sub, and we put them back to back to test it out when I got mine, and they sounded really close. Of course that 18 won overall, but it was a lot closer than you would expect. And considering the cost difference, it's a no-brainer. It was an easy add. Now when I rock a large event 250 guests I hit 2x PRX1 2x Eon1Mk2 and 1x TS15s. They work Great and have excellent sound. So, as you see I started with just the pair, added the extra big brothers, and then added the sub. And now I've got basically two setups for small venues for my team or one big setup with multi zones. It works well. And sounds great!

Hi, great and informative video. Your last comment about a sub got me to wondering. I have a Behringer sub that sounds good. For an outside gig how would you hook up the sub? Is it necessary to use a separate mixer to control the sub with the speakers? Thanks
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm 2 ай бұрын
There are two way to do it. The most common way is to run your LR board outs into the sub, and then run out from the sub to the speakers/tops.

the battery and portability of the EOn Mk2 make it necessary for my work, but i do note the differences and agree with you. It depends on what you need. The Eon Mk2 sounds great. It's really a 1k watt 10inch sub, and in that category, it excells. However, people place so much emphesis on stats, I use mine all over the place and it sounds great. Judge with your ears, not with your eyes. That's what my teacher and good friend taught me.

Hello, I am watching from Korea. Thank you for the information. I have a question. Since I use it outdoors a lot, I purchased two eon mk2s and am using them with satisfaction. I am curious as to whether the prx one has much better sound quality and volume than the eon mk2. Additionally, I am the type of person who only sings mr or inst without any instruments, and rather than loud rock, I sing R&B or ballads.

I'm glad you like them. The Eon MK2 are nice units but nowhere near as powerful as the PRX One. The PRX One sounds much better in every way from base response to top end clarity. The music is very filling. I know how two EON MK2s sound, and one PRX One beats two EON MK2 in terms of sound and quality. That's not to say that the EON MK2 is bad, it's just the the PRX One is that much more powerful. They are two separate units designed with different use cases and a large area of overlap. Your units are good units. Use them and enjoy singing! Cheers:)

Hello, download the latest firmware. go into the menu and turn on TWS. Download the JBL Connect app. Pair and sync your speakers via bluetooth in the app. Turn on TWS in the app. As for making the sound better for vocals, boost the mids and cut the trebel a little bit, but not too much. Good Luck!

Hi there Rob great video! I own a pair of the PRX One's. Yes they sound great but the limit light as you say drives me crazy also, so much to the point of me wanting to get rid of them. Is there any way of turning of the limiter within the system?
@RobertHamm

No, there isn't, but I just ignore it. Well, I ignore the channel limiter. The light on the front of the unit and the one by the main knob is the clip protection light. So, I watch out for that one a little more, but yes. It bothers me a lot. I just put gaff tape on the light on the front of the sub. I know it's a "head in the sand" fix, but it works for me.
