Robotech was just an amalgamation of three totally unrelated anime. SDF Macross, Southern Cross and Moespedia. And for what it's worth, this movie is in the works because of the lawsuit between Tatsunoko and Studio Nue (IIRC) that was recently concluded. The two studios were fighting over who was the primary animator of SDF Macross. If I understand correctly, it also makes Harmony Gold loosen its grip on Macross and everything related (It claimed it owned the license everywhere outside of Japan)

The latest agreement allows Harmony Gold to create new footage using SDF Macross designs which they could not do before. The previous story pitch was MOSPEADA based.

It's kinda cool that they want to remake Space Camp. I first saw the movie in the '90s, so it was interesting seeing Lea Thompson and Kelly Preston as teenagers. I had seen Back To the Future, but I didn't know the Mom was Lea Thompson 'till later

Valaverse AKA Action Force did a GREAT job on the Sgt. Slaughter and they did a second figure of him as well in their 2nd wave as well.

I almost pulled the trigger on that figure and yea I agree, their version actually looks better than this new Hasbro one. Might still get it. Not a bad price still.

If they do a Robotech movie will it follow the Macross Saga, the Invid War, Robotech Masters, a combo of those or something entirely different? I ask because I have the entire Macross Saga on DVD, and they really fleshed the characters out (Rick Hunter and his failed relationship with singer/actress Lyn Minmei, Roy Fokker and his Veritech fighter, Commander Gloval and the many problems with the SDF-1, Lt Commander Lisa Hayes and her love for Rick Hunter growing throughout the series), with interesting side stories (the Zentraedi at first being enemies, then later becoming allies to the earth people, in the Invid War), Breetai & Exedore, (especially when Exedore goes through their Shrink Slide, to become the same size as a human), Khyron and the "For Love" episode where he and the woman with him crashes his battle cruiser into the SDF-1, to damage it, the Robotech Masters looking more like Marvel's Watchers with their bald heads. Lol Hopefully they'll make it as close to the original story.

Jetfire was cool. I have the sr_71 version. Dude I really hope they do this movie. They said transformers and pacific rim made them hesitant. That means they haven't read the story and or don't see how this movie would be all movies combined with humans learning from alien tech and piloting transformable bots . Win .

AH Robotech, that and Voltron were what got me into the giant robot and transforming robot genre and I have Toonami and Moltar to thank for that. As for the live action film announcement I'm unsure the same guy that did "Hawkeye" is the right one, personally I would prefer the guys that did Battle Angel Alita to direct and produce though I do see Robotech being one of the few animes that would translate well into live action but as you said they need to put their money where their mouth is and for the test footage to be approved of us fans, HarmonyGold and Tatsunoko Production of this series. I'm surprised that Transformers and Robotech haven't done a crossover comic series, like its a slam dunk idea we need to see about making a tag of "MrTExpendables4" a thing, needs to happen and woo to Afterlife 2, Sargent Slaughter and for Mother's day specials

Scott, you May want to research Mr T. He might be out of the limelight due to his health. I think the sequel to Afterlife would be a mistake. Space camp remake I’m all in for. Great movie!!

I Pity The Foo, That Don't Show Clubber Lang, FYI I Saw ROCKY III, IV, and V Before I saw ROCKY and ROCKY II, BIG MISTAKE, on My Dads Part, He wouldn't let Me watch the first 2, and Every time I came in on the First ROCKY when he wasn't Around He was already Screaming for Adrian, and Roll Credits. So when I saw Frumpy Adrian, I was all, Who's that? Wait That's Adrian, Huh?

Robotech = that Macross right?....if so that should be interesting I know Otaku USA a few years ago said it was in preproduction, CinemaCon: Expendables 4 = Eh/ Ghostbusters = YES YES YES/ Barbie = 1st thing when seeing that pic I think of Aqua’s Barbie Girl, GI Joe = Sgt Slaughter now he needs a movie showing him being recruited by GI Joe from WWF

Robotech most definitely does not equal Macross. If you're asking if a Robotech movie will be based on the Macross Saga, that's certainly what they are hoping for at this stage which was not possible until recently.

Yawn! 😪 What has the Hamony Gold/Robotech franchise ever done successfully since the 80's? They threw away the Robotech II: The Sentinels story arc in both television and comic form. The Robotech brand has always heavily borrowed from the rich history of Macross. There have been plenty of Macross media that has successfully continued to this day. Not so much for Robotech. I am still waiting for the day when the Robotech brand does something original without taking from another well known property.

Marvel seems to be on a downward trend with alot of content but it just doesnt measure up against phase 1 , 2 and 3 so I would like to see Voltron and RObotech as the new franchises and He Man, with great casting , script and actors and director and music scoring I think Robotech could be great , they kind of missed the mark with Pacific Rim , espescially the second one was kind of silly. Take some cues from Top Gun Maverick on how to do some of the action but then they will have to do far more cgi simply from the nature of RObotech being alien tech ,but with good directing and actors selling it well and making it believable would love to see it , didnt TObey McGuire (spiderman) try and get this off the ground years ago ? as hes a huge robotech fan

Sony is going to mess it up. I'd rather see the same animation studio that redid Star Blazers so the same for Robotech. I don't know why there is this social obsession with making everything live action. I'd be happier seeing animated revamps. The art is part of the charm that live action can not recreate. I'm not opposed to live action just get tired of it being such a hyped up thing when adapting an animated show. I guess the saving grace is Disney was eyeing Robotech years ago, as I recall. Not that I would put much confidence in Sony but at least there's a better chance it won't go as nearly as politically correct as Disney would make it. I personally hope it never gets made. Given the amount of 'fan service' and virtue signalling that is prioritized over storytelling when redoing old material so they can "update it for a modern audience" I can't imagine this will go any better. I may love Robotech till my last breathe but I'm not one of those fans dazzled so easily by a familiar title and 2hrs of references.

Robotech Live action Movie....the biggest unicorn in the Robotech universe. Been following this BS since 2007.....and still waiting!!!!! Spoiler Alert.....never gonna happen!
