Freedom '90 is a great George Michael song, in part because it's kind of his response to his explosion in popularity after this song, and his image, and his label trying to control him.

I concur, I hope you will give it a listen!! Awesome song! I always loved Father Figure too, but namely for the story that went with it for me. I dumped my insane bf & one night he brought me flowers & a card with the lyrics, claiming he wrote it for me (even changed the "blue eyes" line to green for me🙄lol) I was so speechless & amazed by his passionate words, I took him back... briefly hahaa The day the song hit the radio, my friends & I would give him SOOOO much grief!🤣😂 Hey, did you know Rich WROTE this?🤣

The song playing on the jukebox at the beginning was "I Want Your Sex", also by George. You might like that one, too. Also, like everyone is mentioning, "Freedom '90" has a good beat and a strong message about George breaking away from the record studio he was tied to.

And the organ tune is from Wham's "Freedom" (1984) which usually gets overlooked by George's solo hit "Freedom '90". But the Wham! song, though totally different, is a great pop record too and was a huge hit in its day. :)

George was not only supremely talented, but a lovely - truly _lovely_ man. It was only after his untimely death a few years ago (on Christmas Day - he died alone 😔) that countless stories emerged of people -ordinary people - that he'd done immensely kind and generous things for. All with no fanfare or public knowledge. We lost an absolute peach of a man when we lost George Michael. 🖤

I was never really a fan of George or Wham (I'm definitely more of an old rocker) but through a long boring story I ended up spending an hour or so chatting to George and, his friend Sir Elton backstage at a Billy Idol gig. Genuinely, you couldn't hope to ever meet a nicer, more humble, generous, funnier, true gentleman than George. Incidentally, Elton was great too, not so humble and not so down to earth but still a lovely bloke. The one thing you got wrong was neither George or Elton were 'ladies men', in fact quite the opposite. I was so sad the day we lost George, we lost a special soul that day. RIP Yog

The entire Faith album was written, arranged and produced by George. Flawless from beginning to end, this showed off so many different styles of his music from upbeat funk and dance pop (I Want Your Sex Parts 1&2, Faith, Monkey) to emotional ballads (One More Try) to lite jazz (Kissing a Fool, A Last Request) and everything in between (Father Figure). One of the first albums to spin off an unbelievable SIX singles, that's how good quality they were (and still are). My first introduction to George was Wake Me Up Before You Go Go with Wham! but Faith put him on a whole other level in my book.

You had mentioned doing Christmas songs starting in December for 25 days. Would love to see you guys bring to light a very under-rated George Michael's " December Song" . Also " Last Christmas" was written by him and released in 1984, and has always been in the top 10 at Christmas time and the Lovelies, his fans as he called us, streamed and downloaded and pushed to get it to number 1. In 2021, after 36 years, and on the 4th anniversary of his passing, it finally made number 1. It would have hit number 1 in 1984 but it was overshadowed by Band-Aid's famine relief song " Do they know it's Christmas ", which George also participated in. He does not appear in the video - instead it features Supermodels lip-synching to his song, The jacket goes up in flames while the guitar and jukebox explode at different parts of the video. @@carolynsaint6263 Yes, I remember it vividly, December 25, 2016. Why? For me that song became reality. I was driving to my girlfriend's house. I turned on the radio to hear the sad news. This song played. I went to give her a diamond necklace I bought. I went to the door and to my surprise was greeted by 2 adorable little children and her father. We briefly spoke as I waited. My girlfriend soon emerged. Instead of her beautiful smile, I saw a face of shock and embarrassment! We took a walk. I now found myself heartbroken, disgusted, and angry. Heartbroken because my feelings were genuine and I was lied to. Disgusted that a woman of 47 didn't have enough love and pride to mention she had to beautiful children. Angry because to me Christmas is a holiday of love for family, friends, and community, but most of all children! Having gotten her a diamond necklace, but nothing for her children really hurt. I gave her the necklace anyway and left. A few days passed and I returned with gifts for her children. For me it was closure. Her Father answered the door, she wasn't home but her kids were..Her and I spoke for quite awhile as her children played with the gifts I gave them..He gave me the whole story. I ended up feeling bad for them all. She had lied and deceived them as well. She was addicted to drugs and alcohol. They had tried everything, but nothing worked. He said she went out the after Christmas and had been gone since. Life and music for me are intertwined for everything. The soundtrack of my life. Listening to Wham and George Michael is a bittersweet experience. He died way too soon! As did that relationship.

Brilliant video. Love seeing your reactions. Gorgeous George,as his fans call him in the UK, was an amazing singer/songwriter. He wrote Careless Whisper when he was 17 yrs old on the the top deck of a London bus. He struggled with drug use in his later years but he was a kind soul who gave millions to charity. You must listen to Father Figure, it's one of his finest songs!

My favorite, among many, George Michael songs is Praying For Time, still just as valid as it was when written. But if you want another fun song from George, try Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, when he was with Andrew Ridgeley as Wham. You can't help but dance, lol!

George Michael had an amazing voice, not really my genre of music, but this is one of his songs i really appreciate. I have noticed that one group you have not sampled yet is Cheap Trick. They are a quintessential 80's band that is still touring. "Surrender", or "The Dream Police" would be a good place to start. Bret Michaels is possibly the polar opposite of George Michael, LOL. Keep up the great content.

During his faith tour I met him. I was a concierge in Dallas and I was so flustered. (He was beautiful. And kind. All girls were flustered) he kissed my cheek. Called me a breath of fresh air and sent his security down with 4 9th row tickets. I lived so close to Texas Stadium and since sold out, we walked. Great concert. SUPER SWEET GUY!!!! Very approachable at the time. I’ll never forget how real he was. He asked me all about Dallas and if he needed to know anything cool. All I could think of was JFK. Haha. I really was a 23 yr old star struck girl!

I would always (safely and in moderation)drop what I was doing to pay attention to this song every time I heard it on the radio, in a store, at the skating rink etc as a kid. I still find myself doing it. It's a personal tradition at this point. Now when I hear it it's rare so I think about how much this song used to invoke that reaction and just smile. Also since he passed away a few years ago it's a sign of respect for me.

Kissing a Fool, Waiting for that Day, Jesus to a child, Older and so many more excellent songs he wrote and sung. Plus he quietly helped people financially get through some truly difficult and life threatening situations. He sought no attention for those deeds. He simply was of service to those in need. It was only after his untimely death that people came forward to say he helped me through this and that. Powerful example of humility

This man was everything. He was beautiful inside and out. And genuine. His music wasn't fake, like some wannabe soul singing mimick. His soul music was truly real. His funky side was naughty. Can you react to: "All she wants" , "Last Christmas ", and "I'm your man" by Wham, which was him and his friend's boy band group name. Also: Freedom 90, Fastlove (OMG, IS HE SEXY IN THIS VIDEO!), Father Figure, Praying for time, As ( this is a Stevie Wonder cover ft. Mary J Blige and they did an amazing job), and Too Funky. Also. I'd like to request for female Friday Patti Labelle's New Attitude video.

Mediocre band. Critically panned, for good reason, throughout their career. Essentially a C&W band, who tried to incorporate aspects of pop, country rock, & gospel into their songs but the finished products always seemed watered down. Those who were full-fledged rock n roll fans & also loved REAL, quality country rock (Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Neil Young, Credence Clearwater Revival, Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels, Waylon Jennings, The Outlaws, ZZ Top, Eagles, Johnny Cash, K.D. Lang, Linda Ronstadt) knew the wide gap between the above list & the wanna-be crossover bands like Alabama, who were heavily commercial & mediocre musicians.

Delve deeper into George’ Michael’s music catalog and you’ll be amazed how great & versatile his voice & music is and he’s at the top of the list for greatest male vocalist & musician of all time because he not only sings great but he wrote, arranged, produced, & played many of the instruments on his songs and they’re aren’t many artists that compare to George’s voice, musicality, & overall talent. For fun, you should react to the song ‘Monkey’ from George’s Faith album but I recommend that you watch the video because George’s music videos are many of the best ever made. Fast Love is another great song, one of many, from George’s music catalog.
