Everyone's already mentioned the legend Bo Diddly but the old man with the young woman who comes in to watch, and bet on, the game about halfway through the video is none other than Willie Mosconi, one of the greatest pool players of all time.

Yeah he was good. But nobody is/was as good as Efren Reyes. That guy made so many shots that look like they would be in a trick shot video during competition. I know there isn’t good video footage to compare the two, but I still think we were lucky to get to see the mastery and instinctiveness (

The older guy he's playing pool with is Bo Diddley, one of the absolute greatest and earliest rockers. He was rocking his guitar in 1955 and in a 1973 live video here on KZfaq his footwork is even more awesome than Chuck Berry's ever was, in my opinion anyway. Who Do You Love (which is a pun on Hoodoo You, Love), Mona, and Bo Diddley are a few of his best. Who else made a hit song named after themselves? Gear Jammer is another great George Thorogood song, and One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer is indispensable.

Did you catch Willie Mosconi? My husband, who played lots of pool growing up in the early 50's idolized him. He is the older man who comes in and watches. Bo Diddley was a good catch. Still remember Bo, you don't know Diddley! Love that commercial!!

And mine has won Darrell Starbyrds world of wheels 1st place in it it class twice, well over 50 first place awards countless 2nd place. Alot of awards from the drag strip thank you Stinnett Racing, High Torque Racing auto body for paint. And mine is a daily driver unless hail or snow. And I drove off showroom floor in December of 1987. I do appreciate the Fury as I'm a car freak besides being a freak in general lol. But it ain't got nothing on my Buick, I like anything with a "cool factor " so I like the old Furys. +my dad had 57 4door 3 on tree fun car.

RSR Family, you'll love his "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", "Who Do You Love" and "Move It On Over". Great guitar player!! Saw him in concert 11/20/82. Great show! Studio versions of songs sound better!! Amber, their song "Kids From Philly" is mostly a sax solo.

“Bad to the Bone” is an AMAZING, TIMELESS classic. One of the great joys in Life, is watching the movie “Terminator 2” and Arnold walks out of the bar…the camera focuses on his boot as he starts to walk down the steps….”Bad to the Bone” starts. Perfection.

George (and his band) is a perfect example of old school, down and dirty rock. Check out "Who Do You Love," "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," and "Move it On Over," for sure. And if you've ever seen the movie "Christine" from the 80s (based on the Stephen King book) this is the intro song.

Fine set of suggestions to introduce them to "Lonesome George". The only thing I'd say is they should also check out John Lee Hooker's version of "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer". Hooker's version is technicall a cover as well, but I think it's the definitive Blues version. Cheers! Rock on🤘😎☮️

Gotta love that blues musician Bo Didley stars as the other pool player. The boxing promoter /money guy (w/ the younger woman) is pool legend Willie Mosconi who was the main technical adviser for the 1961 movie "The Hustler" and stand-in for the actors (particularly Paul Newman) in the tougher pool shots.

There’s been a Willy Mosconj sighting!! I hadn’t seen this video in… well I have no idea how long, but I remembered Bo & Willy in the pool hall with Lonesome George! This song was also the theme song for the movie Christine, added in Stephen King’s book about a possessed car. Very entertaining movie. And the song fits perfectly as Christine’s theme.

Makes me feel 100 years old, but I remember playing this tune on the juke box at a pool hall. Moe's to be exact. I was in high school. This stuff still makes me smile. These guys are blues players, but they give it a good rock and roll edge as well. They do a cover of House Rent Boogie and One Bourbon, one scotch, one beer. Both are originally by John Lee Hooker but George Thorogood released a version of both together. It smokes. It's just called one bourbon one scotch one beer. That and move it on over are a must!

George wrote this but he also covered a lot of classic gritty blues and boogie songs. To his credit, he often brought the original artist on stage with him and in dune cases gave their new life after they had been ripped off by unscrupulous agents and producers in their hay day. He had been both a student and reviver of a lot of classic stuff. And he's still a down to earth guy from Delaware who owns a minor league baseball team there, The Delaware Destroyers.

GT and the Destroyers did hang in seedy pool halls and bars. That is where they got their start performing. Lots of touring out of the back of a van, covered all the states one time. GT would not tour in the summer time as he played semi pro baseball and that was as important as his music. The "old guy" is none other than the famous Bo Diddley, check out his rectangle guitar, Bo's trademark.

Definitely a rabbit hole to go down. He's fantastic and still touring and killing it live. Fun fact - He's from Delaware and I live a few miles from where he grew up and went to high school. Listen to "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" for a good story. Also "I Drink Alone", "Move It On Over", "Who Do You Love" and "Get a Haircut". Great singer, guitarist and storyteller!

Another band with a gritty-voiced singer is Blood Sweat and Tears and they have a healthy catalog of songs: "And When I Die" "Spinning Wheel" "You Made Me So Very Happy" "Go Down Gamblin'" "Lucretia Mac Evil." Go Down Gamblin' even has a TUBA solo! Gotta dive in there!!!

George is one of my all-time favourite concerts... 1980, in a small pub in Tasmania, overcrowded to buggery... and George played for 3 and a half hours without a break. He connected with everyone there - and showed us what blues and rock could do to a young fella's soul.

"Who Do You Love" and "I Drink Alone" are musts. "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" is the epitome of a storytelling song which I know you'll love Jay. Another MUST for you two is the song "Frankenstein" by The Edgar Winter Group. It is all instrumental so you can just enjoy the music and not have to decipher any lyrics. It has everything you will both love including more saxophone.

This is a great riff. Blues rocker who has done a ton of touring. He had one tour in which he played all 50 states in 50 days. Try I Drink Alone, his cover of John Lee Hooker's One Bourbon One Scotch One Beer, or his cover of Hank William's Move it On Over.

People here in Wa. State really love George. He would come here every year and play at Columbia George, giant outdoor stadium. The event was known as George at the Gorge.His voice is so husky and masculine, love it!

The first time I ever heard this song was back in the mid to early 80's, when I was really into WCCW wrestling. The Gentleman Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez would come down to ringside to THIS song! Great memories

I saw George in concert when I was 18. I've never been so affected by another performance. There was no flash, no pyro, no fancy lights. They didn't need all of that. It was just a band on stage and it was amazing! He had a rack that held 6 or 8 identical guitars and if a string broke on the one he was playing, he just grabbed the next one in line and kept going. I'm not sure what happened, but at one point he stopped playing, walked to the edge of the stage and said to some guy on the floor "Hey! That's no way to treat a lady and if I see you do it again, I'm walking off the stage." A true gentleman and a lot of musicians today could learn a lot from him. Recommendations... "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", "I Drink Alone" or "Who do you Love?"

I saw him in 1982, touring for this album. His slide guitar work is the best. And you're right, he didn't need fireworks or flash, just his guitar. Just like Chuck Berry.

Was a legend around the Philadelphia area many years ago where me and my friends saw him 9-10 times. You’ll want to hear Move it on Over, One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer, Who Do You Love, Ride on Josephine, Nighttime, It Wasn’t Me, Cocaine Blues, The Sky is Crying. All covers from the beginning of rock and roll but he does it so good! He covered these about 25-30 years after the originals came out. Brought the early rock and roll sound to the modern ears of the time.

When US Navy ships complete an underway refueling evolution and break away from the refueling ship they go to All Ahead Flank and play a “break away” song on their topside speakers. When I was stationed on the USS CONOLLY DD 979 in the early 90’s our break away song was “Bad to the Bone”.

I always love y’all’s reactions. Music is the universal language. Here’s the thing, George is from Delaware. Not exactly southern. (I was born there too) His band is the Delaware Destroyers. I have met the most hard-core country music lovers in Massachusetts, even though I grew up in Florida Louisiana and Texas! The point is music is universal! And George Thorogood is just damn fine music!

This song was used to great effect in the opening scene of Terminator 2. When Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator beats up a bar full of bikers, takes their clothes, a bike and a cool pair of shades this kicks in. The people in the theatre I was in lost it laughing and clapping.

I loved the part when the Terminator walks into the bar buck naked and one of the waitresses passes by and looks with great appreciation at him while the terminator is measuring her for clothing fit - discounting her as female. This song rocked that movie.

Something older people like me (67 years old) really enjoy about the video, things that make it really great, is the older pool player, first seen holding a square body guitar, is Bo Diddly, an early influence on George Thorogood and a later friend and the old white haired man who came in before the pool game started and laid down a large bet is Willie Mosconi, a very famous pool player and someone older people like myself would have seen on TV and in movies like "The Hustler." Those little things make the video so much more enjoyable for people who are older and know who Bo and Willie were.

Please check out Johnny Lang he has been performing since he was a kid, he’s 40 now. He’s a singer songwriter guitarist in the rock gospel blues genre. My two favorite songs are Lie to Me 1997 and Redlight 2003 among other good songs. He was also featured in the sequel The Blues Brothers 2000 movie. One of the the gifts I sent you

Great choice, one of the hardest working live bands of the '80's. If you saw "The Destroyers" perform, you were wholly entertained, they didn't hold any back. The man with the hat, glasses and the rectangular guitar, in the pool hall is the esteemed Bo Diddley, a rock n' roll contemporary of Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins and Elvis in the day. The elegant gent with the statuesque blonde who comes to wager, the fabled Willie Mosconi one of the greatest pool champions ever to lift a cue !

I attended a George Thorogood and the Destroyers concert in an auditorium on the Florida State University campus several years ago (in the 80s). Although it was movie theater type seating, the music was so raw and rockin' I literally could NOT sit down. I HAD to dance! Even when I was out of breath and ready to take a break, they'd crank up another tune and I just kept dancing. The music was so LOUD that when I walked outside after the event, I could not hear the water cascading in the fountain in front of the venue, and the traffic noise! That concert taught me to bring ear plugs to concerts, just in case I needed them. Absolutely awesome experience!

My parents loved to play pool in fact my dad was a bit of a pool hustler. So when I was a baby they’d put a blanket under the table and lay me down on it while they played. A guy came every month down from Las Vegas to play against my dad and that’s how my dad made rent money every month for a while. So of course they had a pool cue in my hands by the time I was two years old. Growing up I spent a lot of time in pool halls and bars long before I was old enough. Children were taken everywhere back in the 70s so it wasn’t too unusual. Things were very different back then if they’d done it now a days someone would have called children services on them for abuse. My mom always said that she was very lucky that I never got hurt or taken given the things she allowed or did when I was a kid. Hell she took me to concerts with her and it wasn’t unusual for someone she really didn’t know to walk off with me in tow and not see me till the end of the concert when she’d go looking for me. I remember being passed around from group to group of stoned hippies at a Grateful dead concert when I was little. Times really were more innocent back then compared to now a days.

A friend of mine went to the University of Delaware from '76-'79 and he used to see George and the Delaware Destroyers all of the time before they hit it big. He was a HUGE fan. I've seen them twice and they kick butt...always put on a fun, rockin' show.

I think Amber had a Saxasm! In other news, I've seen George in concert about five times. In small venues I've been close enough that his sweat was hitting me as he played guitar. He is one of the best guitarists I've ever seen, and he just rocks that bluesy sound like nobody's business. I don't know why he is not recognized more for his guitar playing. He NEVER disappoints in concert. It's just rocking fun from start to finish and you can tell that he is living every note like It's his lifeblood.

George Thorogood is definitely one of the most under appreciated musicians of all time. He has sooo many fantastic songs out there and most people have only heard 3 or 4 of them on the radio and most of those people don't know who sings them. Truth be told he has a huge library of great music.

I too have seen him multiple times. What an awesome musician. His concerts are always great. The first time I saw him, Brian Setzer opened, and Brian's last three songs, George came on stage, and played with him. Red Rocks outside of Denver, CO, the best concert venue ever.

It's the Bo Diddley beat and 'Who Do You Love' was a mainstay in Thorogood's set from the beginning. The song became an FM rock radio staple and one of Thorogood's most identifiable and popular songs. They became life long friends ever since. Personal story about this song. I was in the Navy and we were coming back from a Med Cruise and they did a poll, to see what song to play as we came into pprt. This song got 90% of yhe votes. He also did a remake of the Johnny Lee Hooked song O e Burbon one Scotch an one Beer. My personal favorite of his songs os Gear Jammer.
