One of those voices singing that backup is Linda Ronstadt, yeah, that one. She's not in the video, but credited on the album. if you watch that again you'll see the restaurant changes, the cars change and seemingly we are sent back in time. The dancers are younger, representing the younger pair of lovers, seemingly a younger Neil and Pegi.

Harvest Moon was released in 1992 with a lot of the same back up musicians that were on his 1972 Harvest album. Such a beautiful song, delivered in a spectacular way. The acoustic guitar, piano and banjo goes back to the basics of Neil. And of course, the harmonica. One of his bests. Great reaction. My first album by Neil was 'After the Goldrush', I listened to it all night long, hoping to meet him one day, lol, I was 15 yrs. old full of dreams, and that dream did unexpectedly come true 6 yrs. later when my friend who owned a little bar up in the San Mateo mountains ask if I could help because he was short a bartender. It was extremely busy, and this soft spoken guy comes up to the waitress station and starts ordering drinks from me slowly one at a time, lol, I said you need to be quicker than that, it was Neil he smiled and kept ordering slowly, lol.

Y'all might not remember it, but long about 1992-3 or so, there came the "un-plugged" fad, where everybody known for electric guitar made some pretty cool recordings/videos on acoustic guitar. That's when Young released this LP, and Eric Clapton and others released some great acoustic songs. If you like bluegrass... for sure need to see "Allison Krauss and Union Station". That band was only TOP-notch bluegrass musicians.. just a joy to see them play together. Also, Allison's duets with Robert Plant are GREAT!

It was actually the Closing Ceremonies of the Vancouver Games (2010) that Neil played "Long May You Run". The Calgary Games (1988) had Ian Tyson and Gordon Lightfoot doing a duet of "Four Strong Winds" and "Alberta Bound" during the Opening Ceremonies. k.d. lang performed at the Closing Ceremonies of the Calgary Games.

My favorite Neil Young song is "After the Gold Rush". Is one of his earliest solo works. Definitely worth listening to.

This is such a beautiful song. His voice is mesmerizing. Linda Ronstadt once described it as “his eerie, prairie-wind howl of a voice-a boy soprano fuel-injected with testosterone”! What a great description of the gorgeous sound that comes from this man’s soul. 🌺✌️

I've been getting into 1974 Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young tour (as captured on the "1974" live album). It was supposed to be in support of a new album, but they couldn't get all four into the studio for long enough, so the new songs ended up on solo albums. For me, the standout has to be Graham Nash's "Prison Song", which I can't stop listening to. Either the studio recording or the live version (with the others backing) would be great to react to. Other 1973-74 CSNY classics include Stills's "Change Partners", Young's "Long May You Run" and Crosby's "Carry Me", but Nash is the one that really made an impression. There's still so much you need to cover from the "Deja Vu" album (and the accompanying "4-Way Street" live disc), but I'm looking forward to when you visit the next material as well.

Father is 88, has no idea who Neil Young is, adores this song, which I felt would be hard to do for a Willie Nelson king of guy.

i gave myself whiplash once playing air guitar with neil. down by the river, only he can play the same note that many times and make it sound so good! a later, haha, electric song is like a hurricane. years ago at the concord pavillion he did an incredible version. the strings were breaking and he was dragging a broken end over what was left.

Backup singers are Geena Davis and Linda Ronstadt. Filmed just a mile from Alice's Restaurant in Skylonda. I used to go there for dinner and dance to Neil when he played there. The best of my old hippie days. Beautiful and memorable.

I remember hearing this song when the video came on Much Music (Canada) in 1992 when I was only 7 years old, and I was mesmerized by what I was hearing. I didn't really understand why I was so drawn to it at the time, but now I get why - so uniquely amazing.
