Oh my goodness, your videos make me smile! Also, our approach to gluten-free pantries is practically identical...25+ years in and still being cheap! Would love to see what your flour cabinet looks like. SO. MANY. CONTAINERS. Also, have you seen the end of the movie Stranger Than Fiction when Will Ferrell brings Maggie Gyllenhaal flours (not flowers!?). Be still my gluten-free baking heart! Thanks for your positive presence in this corner of the internet.

Hi Robyn! Love your channel! I recently discovered you and your channel through the fall edition of the Canadian Celiac Magazine online. I'm not even in a small town. I'm actually right about 1/2 way between Orangeville and Fergus, and know all to well about the lack of GF options either in the grocery stores and in local restaurants, but I've found several good GF options that I like in the Loblaw President's Choice product line of bread products. Also I'm sure you already know, but if not the regular VH Soy Sauce is GF. I'm planning to try out some of your bread recipes as I've always like making home made bread,... Well that is until I was hospitalized back in the end of June this year for having a hemoglobin lever of only 39 (125 to 140 is the normal range, as I was informed) and I was subsequently diagnosed while in the hospital with celiac disease. Keep up the great videos and recipes. I love all of your tips and jokes. great stuff1 cheers!

I have made a Christmas cake from a recipe I followed in my nans old cookbook but added xanthan gum and I did ,are a few other cakes that were fine but this year nothing seems to work none of my cakes turn out well and I have never had a glutenfree bread turn out edible. Do u have Za book? I am getting even more depressed. Crave pasties, doughnuts , banana bread, carrot cake please help.

Hey! Just wanted to point out that the hemp hearts are $20 for 907g, but I only eat them a tablespoon at a time, so that $20 bag lasts me at least 6 months or more. There are plenty of cheap, naturally gluten-free foods! I also eat lots of rice and beans, which are some of the cheapest foods out there. 😊 It’s definitely possible to eat affordably when you’re gluten-free. I’ll add another budget-friendly video to my list!

I didn't think there was such thing as gluten free oats. We can't even get them here in New Zealand. But if you're celiac and you eat them I guess that's pretty conclusive.
@ciaranheikeclark
@ciaranheikeclark 7 ай бұрын
oats don't contain gluten. but they could(i don't know) be processed or packaged in a factory with flour so it might be best to look for that certification if you can't take that risk.
@cursedmonkey1033
@cursedmonkey1033 7 ай бұрын
@@ciaranheikeclark I hear conflicting opinions on this. For instance in this article from Harraways, which produce them. "It is impossible for oats to be genuinely gluten-free. Gluten is the name given to a protein found in barley, rye, oats and wheat. The proteins are hordein (barley), secalin (rye), avenin (oats) and gliadin (wheat). According to Coeliac New Zealand, avenin is an essential part of oats. As avenin is gluten, oats can never really be gluten-free."

Yes! I do actually have a large bag of rice from Costco! 🤣 Not sure if I just showed it very quickly or maybe it got cut from the video.
