I saw Patti Smith at the beginning of her career. This is a great parody. Yeah, she was all about Mick. AND Mick. AND Brian. AND Charlie. I was in the front row at a small college bar in San Diego. Patti was spitting on the audience, and the guys were in adoration. I'm proud to say I ducked! I don't remember her as having a reputation as a druggy or drunk, though.. She was very tight. Her band were kind of zombied-out, though. Totally quaalude. I figured that was for show. Gilda forever!!

Gilda was such an amazing performer. I miss this level of SNL. And I was really just a child when these came out and actually saw them second hand sometime in the early 80s somehow (I can't even tell you where I saw them). I began being a fan in the Eddie Murphy era. Blew my mind to see Harold Ramis in there! Wow! I had no idea he was that related to SNL. I knew he was indirectly through Caddyshack and Ghostbusters, but didn't know he was actually on the show at some point.

Probably one of the top ten SNL performances in SNL history, this skit was great on all levels, the cast's performances, the writing, wow they all got down that time. They references to coke use by ms Olivia Quarles, the Elvii, Bob Marley obsessed with Dolly's hooters exceptional performances

Growing up loving the Stones, I was jealous coz my older cousin got to see them at their 1st concert in the USA, at the Swing in San Bernardino, in 1964, I wanted to go so bad. I loved Gilda in everything, but this is just outstanding, she’s got the moves like Jagger!! I was so sad when she passed, I read her post humous autobiography and dang ….

I love this Gilda's performance. This is actually how every rock or any other kind of music popular star would have performed that time. High and drunk. And they all are considered as super stars nowadays though. Dead stars, but still

Interesting bits of trivia: 1) John is the only ex-beatle to have never appeared on the show. 2) Malcolm McDowell played John on a "Weekend Update" bit (with Denny Dillon as Yoko), shortly before John's tragic death.
