To clarify she's not calling 'Go Go' a rock/metal song in a literal sense, just that the message and the cheeky, in-your-face way they choose to present it on stage really made an impression on her once she understood what they were actually doing, and that their audacity spoke to her as a rock fan.

Being a 52 year old lifelong rock & metal, I was also just completely fascinated by BTS. Enough to want to know more about them and then the rest is history. It’s the passion that comes through first and then you are blown away by their multi-genre music, live performances, their personalities, their other content, their values, humbleness, kindness and incredible work ethic.

Also, about isolation. BTS must be one of the most isolated artists in the world. From the start they were outsiders in K-pop, then Korean media started to shun them, then BTS became so huge that other artists in Korea feels nervous and intimidated by them. We have seen especially RM, Suga, and J-hope put some effort to be approachable and connect with other artists. Jimin as well has tried to make some connections with artists that he can at least relate a little with. In Western industry, they are nothing but outsiders. Foreigners that bearly speak English and refuse to shake hands with industry hands and underhanded deals. They are huge, and from a Western standpoint, they came out of nowhere in 2017 and refused to leave like past huge hits that came seemingly out of nowhere.

BTS has a whole team behind them. For many years, they and a soloist named Lee Hyun were the only artists under Big Hit. The label was a small one who had few resources, so they focused a lot on BTS. BTS writes 95% of their lyrics. They work with other people on melodies and other aspects of production, although they also write melodies and beats. When you look at the credits of a song, if you see Western names, they usually contribute to the melody, and maybe the beat. When they work on a song, they usually create the beat and the instrumental track first. Then people create melodies and lyrics over the track. Sometimes they send a track to outside collaborators. The members also submit their melodies and lyrics. So it's like a healthy competition. The best melodies/lyrics will get chosen for the final version of the song. Some examples: * In CD 3 in "Proof", you can listen to some of the members' versions of BTS songs that didn't make the final cut. * For "Blue & Grey", because it was originally V's solo song that was adopted to become a group song, he had the final say for the lyrics. He chose some lyrics from Suga, but not from RM. * Suga's version of "Life Goes On" was a contender but ultimately wasn't chosen for the final version, but because he liked his version so much, he rearranged it and released it in his solo album. As for production, Suga is the most obvious in his producing skills. There are songs where he's credited as the sole producer and he has produced for other artists as well. But other members have a heavy hand in production as well, and have been credited as producers. Even if they're not credited, the songs are often created based on their vision. This is especially the case in their solo songs, where they take the lead in every aspect, from the songs to the promotions. I forgot in what context this was said, but the Big Hit staff has said that the BTS members are like the head, and the staff are like their hands and feet who bring their vision into reality.

Regarding their song writing process, Suga describes it as a year long song writing camp. Every member writes, composes and produces during their free time, and I think they upload it into a secure server that the company has access to. From there, their staff sifts through it all, and they hold meetings to flesh it out further. The group as well holds meetings and discussions on themes and production and writing styles when they can. This was what I observed when they produced their BE album during the pandemic.

When it comes to BTS, the guys have a ton of input. Since they are writing the songs they know the concepts and context they want to express. They have a full team because of course they do but that team frequently has meetings with them about storyboards for MVs, outfits (usually costuming gets several different styles and the guys choose favorites) etc. They are involved but they are the most hands on with their solo projects. BH and the guys made a deal that solo projects are the member's babies and BH will support them but they have to take the lead. When she spoke of GoGo, she was talking about how lyrically and their stage concept was very rock n roll. The idea to sing a song about consumerism while dressed in flashy designer outfits pointing out "is this what you're wasting your money on?" It's the John Lennon philosophy. Lennon said that if you want to really say something in a song give it a catchy melody. He said people will get caught by the tune and once that happens usually they'll sit and listen to the lyrics.

You guys took her comment about the song Go-Go too literally. She wasn't talking about the music itself being the most rock song she'd ever heard. She was talking more about the concept and the lyrical content and the message being the most esoteric (esoteric, the quality of having an inner or secret meaning) "metal" song she's ever heard.

To add to what everyone else commented. Take for example the fifa World Cup performance. It was not a big hit production but when JK showed up a few days in advance and they went thru the first rehearsal, he gave input on changes to how the stage may look better. From blocking where the dancers should be to changing theatrics. It’s on the behind the scenes and it was nice the producers of the show added his suggestions. And that’s for a performance that wasn’t theirs. For Jhope hobipalooza behind the scenes it’s him saying exactly what he wants where he wants the dancers and where he wants the stage props. So they have very big input

To your question about if they have a team behind them doing the visuals for the stage then YES they have teams for all of that, however they have the last say in the final outcome and they monitor how everything will look and will veto anything they don't agree with 💜💜

When you were talking about the problems of fame in making or maintaining friends, it is a huge problem for BTS. That is why the friendship group that V joined when he acted in Kdrama is so precious to him.even in early days Jimin cried with his dad that he was lonely and had no friends any more, he said his old friends only wanted to be with him if he payed for everything. At another time Jin said he had no friends, except the brothers.

The first BTS song that caught my attention was "Dope" because the song was fun and energetic and the dancing was so cool. But the song that made me a fan and want to be an ARMY was "Tomorrow" because of its lyricism. It spoke to me at that time of my life. The lyrics mention being a jobless 20-something who's lost and can't seem to get ahead and feel like everyone else is passing you by while you're just stuck. I ended up getting the lyrics "해가 뜨기 전 새벽이 가장 어두우니까" (the dawn before the sun rises is always the darkest) as my first tattoo because of how much their words helped me to remember that that phase of my life was temporary and I was able to move forward. There's a saying in the fandom that "you find BTS when you need them" and I can truly attest that it was that way for me.

BTS does have huge team of people behind them from choreographers to make up artists to costume and clothing designers. The thing is they have input into all of that. They are able to suggest and make changes and collaborate with all of those people. So ultimately, everything does have their own personal stamp on it.

I don't think there will ever be another male group like BTS in my lifetime but I do hope there will be more genuine artist that make great music and follow in the path of BTS to continue making positive difference in the world in their own way. BTS has opened the possibilities to others outside the realm of US, UK and Europe to make their own path towards that same goal or beyond. Only time will tell if that ever happens in my lifetime.

She said rock and roll message. 😉 Personally I grew up mostly listening to bands like Bon Jovi, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Garbage and The Offspring (The Kids Aren't Allright is still one of my favorite songs ever.) with a bit of ABBA, MJ and Backstreet Boys sprinkled on top. 😄 Never thought I'd connect with a "boyband" the way I have with BTS though. For me a huge part of the attraction is their lyrics, especially their more political songs, and their amazing personalities and I'm genuinely in awe of how they've been through so many hardships and still came out on the other side without crumbling. And also the fact that no matter my mood I can always find a BTS song that matches because of their huge versatility, be it soft/slow songs for relaxation, sad songs for crying or heavy FU-songs for when I'm p_ss_d! 😅 Metal singer John Reaves mentioned Epiphany in the video (pretty impressive metal scream he has btw 😮👍) and that one shifted a lot within me as well. It's always a team effort, but BTS ultimately has final word. During last tour Jin wanted a space looking piano and they got it for him, JK wanted to fly - he did🤷

For the lyrics from Whalien 52 "Could someone like me who's like an isolated island shine brightly as well", the song is more about them struggling to get spotlight from the public. Remind u this song was released in 2015, they were still the underdogs/nobodies in Kpop. I am an Asian so I knew about Kpop back then but only the big groups from the BIG 3 companies like Big bang and 2ne1 but never knew abt BTS existence til they got the Billboard Top Social Artist Awards in 2017. This was also their first time getting the attention of the Korean's general public. At that time, the story angles in media were mostly "Who is BTS? Why this band from my country I never heard of becomes popular in the US?" And I myself was confused too. First of all, I never thought kpop would one day break into the US market though kpop was pretty popular in Asian countries like japan and china then. If it really happened like a miracle, my money's on Big Bang, the biggest group then, the trendsetter in music experimentation and stage presence I thought the western audience would like. To think abt it now, I was narrow-minded at that time. Bigbang were more like typical western artists than BTS ever were in a sense that they were manlier with a carefree stage manner and the bad boys image not only on stage but irl two of them did drugs, former member Seungri was even imprisoned for sexual bribery and embezzlement. But how could you beat someone at their own game on their own turf? BTS got the eye of western audience because they are different than anything they have seen before.

at 34:59 she didnt mean in terms of sound she meant in terms of lyrics. not sure how you concluded that its not a rock song when you didnt even hear what the song sounded like you just made the assumption after looking at their outfits which is one of the main reasons this video is made is to show the look doesnt mean that the song is gonna match the look. bts has quite a few happy upbeat sounding songs but the songs are deeper and sad this is why lyrics are important. but back to gogo it isnt a rock song but she said its the song that gives her the most rockstar vibes due to its message. please pay closer attention and maybe rewind when you pause so you can clearly understand whats happening. sometimes you miss her point cause you paused while shes in mid sentence.

To be honest, I have a hard time picking a favorite song. All of their songs are so good. I love the slower songs ( Black Swan, Blue & Grey, Pied Piper, Tomorrow, Yet to Come, Best of Me, Jamais Vu, etc.) but then I also love songs like Not Today, Dionysus, Blood Sweat & Tears and of course J Hope, Lollapalooza and Ego as well as Hope World. Also, the rap line Outro Tear, UGH (boxing ring or Busan concert for Ugh, Wembley for Outro Tear) Live performances are the best. All of their solo work has also been very good. They are all so, so very talented and once they all finish their military service (J Hope and Jin already in the military) I do hope they have a least one more concert.

BTS's influences are mostly western artists and they would usually acknowledge the artists from whom they got inspiration from in creating their music. Jhope is a fan of JCole and it was a dream come true for him to collab with him in his song Hope on the Street. They have a song Born Singer which I believe was inspired by JCole's Born Sinner. RM is a fan of Drake and he has collaborated with some western rappers. Jungkook is a fan of Justin Beiber and Charlie Puth. They are all a fan of Michael Jackson etc. Although they have in-house producers, composers and songwriters, the members would actively take part in producing, composing their music and writing their lyrics and if someone else produce the music for them, they are still the ones who choose which songs should be included in their discography. The seven of them would usually brainstorm and plan what to do. And actually, BOY WITH LUV also got my attention. Although I first heard of BTS during the Dynamite era, it didn't make me a fan yet. But after watching their live performance of BOY WITH LUV during their Japan Tour, I got interested in them. Then I started listening to more of their songs until I came across Mic Drop, Danger, On, Boy In Luv etc. I love their MVs BUT What really made me an ARMY is when I watched their live performances. Just like you, I also wondered how they were able to pull all those choreography while singing live. After watching BTS's Burn the Stage and Break the Silence, I realized that these 7 amazing young men suffered so much and had injured themselves many times. They would collapsed after 3 or 4 intense performances. Jungkook and Jimin collapsed, RM injured his foot, Jin's ear got caught by a real fire which was used for their FIRE performance. The fans didn't know about all these because they didn't show it while performing. But back stage, my goodness! It will break your heart seeing them being given first aid. Jungkook once cried because he couldn't dance due to injury. V had to ask Jimin or Jungkook to help him sing his part due to sore throat. They really give their best while performing for ARMYs because they don't want the fans to be disappointed with them. They have stylists and make up artists. With regards to outfits, they are usually given several outfits and they decide what to wear. With regards to the concept of their albums and MVs, there are people helping them but they still get involved in their MVs. Sometimes, the director would say, that they have done well. But after watching the MV they would have to retake that part of the MV because they don't like how they act, dance, their facial expressions etc. Same goes with their photo shoots. They run on treadmills while singing that's how they are able to do some intense choreography and singing live as well. They do have backing tracks, though but they are definitely singing live. Those people who have gone to their concerts can attest to that. I'm a rock fan by the way. Borahae 💜💜💜💜

They now have a big team to assist them with their stages... but in the beginning they only had a small crew (most of those people are still with them)... eg - with regards to choreography - performance/stage director Son Seongduk has always been with them since predebut to oversee everything, and they work with various international choreographers, yet BTS have a lot of input at every stage and the final say in everything -they are perfectionists who always work with the mindset of making an even more impressive production - always higher quality than before...... They have always been very thankful to and acknowledged the staff that have helped them achieve so much.

I’m 37. From my youth days I was listening to The Cranberries, Nick Cave, Agalloch, Dream Theater, Depeche Mode, Opeth etc. I could never ever imagine that I will become big fan of a K-pop boy band. It’s already 1,5 years when 95 % of what I listen to is BTS. I find everything I need in their music. Tiny Desk Concert was the begining.

Another great one, guys. I grew up listening to Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Matthews Band among others. I too got interested to BTS with their Boy with Luv song. But it was their Spring Day that really got me hooked. The opening lines “I miss you, saying that makes me miss you even more” really spoke to me at that time when I was struggling coping with the loss of my mom. And then there’s J-Hope’s song Piece of Peace with the opening lines that go like “Step 1, know yourself. Step 2, find a dream. Step 3, realize your dream.” To me, they are so powerful words. 💜💜

What i like about BTS's company is that.. since the very beginning (pre- debut) The CEO/Producer gave them artistic freedom. Be it writing, producing, composing and even their own solo projects. BTS is the one controling the peojects, All the staff have to do is assist the members and used thier profession/expertise to advice/give opinions and ideas to improve the projects. They don't control BTS they just there to help. That is why when ask about their song process or the solo project their eyes light up and excitedly narrates the process from start to end. That's BTS work ethics.

64 year old BTS/rock fan here. I want to address your comment regarding how the narrator would know anything about Korn. It's no different than Westerners knowing about BTS. Korn has played in Japan and in Korea! BTS had played in the U.S. Radio airplay is hardly "the thing" anymore. People hear music in all kinds of venues. I have family in Copenhagen and when I am there and we play music (I am a singer), my fellow musicians know bands from here that I don't even know! It's easy in this internet world to know bands from everywhere! Hardly a mystery! Anyway, interesting vid...keep it up, boys! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

If you're open to watch more documentaries, I'd recommend to watch "The Rise of Bangtan" series. It's over 20 chapters I guess and about 30 minutes each chapter plus "deleted scenes" and "bonus contents". It is a fan-made documentary where she gets clips from different videos and compile it to tell a beautiful story of how BTS rise to stardom. It has information about K-pop and Korea in general but the focus of the story is the rise of BTS. 💜 If it's too much of a commitment for you to be watching that many chapters of a documentary, I'd recommend "BTS From Nobodies to Legends" and "BTS Hardships" by xCeleste instead.

Through their Run BTS, In the Soop, and vlives they show a lot of their personalities to their fans and show how close they are as a family. They don’t isolate from fans - they let people see their fun and sad emotions.

BTS have in-house staff that helps with putting the performances together. However, I remember Suga saying about the Permission to Dance concerts they did in 2021-2022 that the group decided they wanted the concerts to have all of the performances be all 7 members (whereas they normally have OT7, and also some subunit songs - either solo's or the rap line only or the vocal line only, etc.). He also said they did everything for those concerts including conceptualizing the big screens, the songs they wanted to do, how they would perform them and in what order, etc. As for costumes, I may be wrong, but I think early on they were given the costumes and just wore them. Lately though, I am pretty sure that they have input into those as well - they pick the style and the stylists just make sure that all the distinct looks are cohesive for the group. Now as solo performers, I believe they get to pick it all (as they should). They have more freedom in their solo work. Boracity is a great channel for the most part. Thanks for learning more about BTS and respecting them! I'm in the US and only found them in early 2021. Full-blown paid ARMY membership since then. I grew up on rock and roll (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Jefferson Airplane, Three Dog Night - to name a few) in the 60's and 70's, and what I call "folk rock" (Crosby Stills, Nash & Young; Simon & Garfunkel; and some others). Never got into Heavy Metal though. (Yeah, I'm old. Oh well! I still know good music when I hear it and learn the meanings behind it!). You might want to consider watching a few of Suga's "Suchwita" shows (he's up to 14 episodes now) and, particularly the ones where RM is on it (both as a guest and as an MC when Suga is the guest), Jin, J-Hope and soon Jungkook on 29th of July . They are interesting episodes with the other members because we learn more about them and what they went through as a group together. I'm loving the shows. The most recent episode 14 was with J-Hope as the guest and was just put out today on BangtanTV channel. Anyway, enjoy the journey! It's worth it!

I grew up listening mostly to Kiss & Queen as those were my parents favourite bands and I see a lot of similarities in their music & way that BTS have great lyrics, music, stage performances & write & compose their own songs & lyrics as well the external way that they are very smart & intelligent both internally by using Psychology & Social Justice topics, they are also very smart business man and have created, World Tours, Documentaries, Backstage & Behind the scene vlogs for the fans (they have yet to do a cameo in a movie) so that we are engaged & on a deeper level of knowing them as people instead of just celebrities (Queen used to have Behind The Scene vlogs of before & after the show’s in the dressing room & at parties etc) & designed themselves BT21 characters, Merch for every solo album and fashion accessories that sold out in under an hour e.g. Tae’s Boston Bag & Jin’s God & Bad Day PJ’s. I also like that even tho they didn’t leave their agency they did exactly what Queen did and wrote & Composed and entire album on their own (BE) during the pandemic and even had to organise all concepts of selling to the public and live events & Interviews to promote the album, they were given free reign which is why this album is probably my most fav as I know the Tannies contributed to 100% of the Album. My favourite “Rock” songs of BTS would be Dionysus & Tomorrow (Live Version of Course).

Bts was the first group I "stan" and is still the only other group I follow along with another group. I listen to a lot of music in kpop but bts stands out for me because of their music and lyrics. I never thought I would like a rap or rock influenced music but ended up liking some of the their songs with those elements. I'm not a hardcore army like i was in the beginning but I will always listen and appreciate their music and genuine messages. As well I heard that they still donate to charity to this day, they just do it quietly. It's nice to see that they didn't let the fame and success stop them or change them as people.💜😊

This isn’t about you, but my observation of “the public” in general: I think many people are put off by BTS’ aesthetic of bright “bubblegum” colours and dance moves and make a judgement, when the aesthetic often carries a subversive message in itself (like what she was saying about GoGo or Boy with Luv) and/or the lyrics/thoughts behind the song are actually pretty meaningful. There’s nothing inherently shallow or bad about “feminine” makeup/pink/synchronized dance moves but people see that as surface level “stupid” light entertainment and don’t bother to go deeper. (Also, BTS have plenty of dark/aggressive/less choreographed concepts as well, that the general public who only see Dynamite don’t know about.)

They didn't start softer and get harder. They actually started in 2013 as straight hardcore hip hop with some R&B and rock as well. They later branched into more genres. Listen to anything from their School Trilogy albums (2 Cool for Skool, O!RUL8,2? and Skool Luv Affair) or anything from their Dark & Wild album. Those were their first four releases. Or look up RM's song "Throw Away" or his first Mixtape titled RM, or Yoongi's first mixtape titled Agust D. You've heard some of that already. That was early in their careers. How they work: they have often said their lives are like a year round music camp. They lived together for 11 years and it was music all the time, bouncing ideas, writing down melodies, impromptu jams and recordings, inspiring and encouraging one another and working with their producer friends at Big Hit as well. Yes, they are well steeped in Western music, hip hop and rock and pop, R&B, jazz, etc, and they are also influenced by artists in S Korea as well. 4:58 That's my bias j-hope being a rock god at Lollapalooza. His show is already legend. He broke the festival attendance record by more than double. Over 100,000 people were there. 10:30 Yes, BTS have stylists, and a team who helps them put together their performances, as all artists at this level do. They have music video directors, one in particular they have worked with since the beginning, set designers, and producers and others who help them. But they have always been in creative control of their message, their sound and their direction. No artist who does music videos and shows at this level does it all by themselves. They have a team of creatives to help them bring their vision to life. Thier team was not big to begin with, because their company was broke, and they have maintained loyalty to the same people through their career, so many of the folks with them have been with them since the beginning. Even Mr. Bang appointed somebody else to be CEO now that the company is so big and stepped back to do music production, which is what he loves. Incidentally, Hybe, the now parent company of Big Hit, really is the house that BTS built, and is now bigger than the previous 3 biggest labels in S Korea combined (those guys who tried to crush and suppress BTS.) When they reformed as Hybe (a combination of S Korean pronunciation of Hive and Hype) they ate up a bunch of smaller labels and created a sort of grape cluster structure, where Hybe handles legals and other aspects for these smaller companies under them. Big Hit remained separate as one of those smaller labels, each of which have their own management, artists and way of doing things. In fact, Hybe ate up Justin Bieber and Arianna Grande's labels too, so the house that BTS built manages them now too, as well as other Western artists (from the West, not Country/Western, though they have those too.) There are only three acts at Big Hit: Lee Hyun, who is a soloist who was there from the beginning, BTS, and their new junior group TXT. It's still not a big company, in terms of number of artists or people. 29:22 Yes, S Korea is very hard on students. A 16 hour school day is not uncommon as students go from school to paid private cram schools and then on to study facilities where they pay a monthly rent for a study space. They also have the highest suicide rate in the 10-19 age range in the world. BTS' first songs, critiquing that and encouraging youth to fight for their dreams, received backlash from conservatives who thought they were a "bad influence." These are *NOT* topics other Idols were talking about. They were an anomaly. 31:00 They felt isolated and alone when they were still new and not famous. They were industry outsiders. Unlike other labels, they didn't have senior artists to help guide them and introduce them to audiences. The underground rap scene Suga and Rm came from, and all their former friends, rejected them. The Idol industry treated them like hated invaders, mocking and mistreating them. They said they felt for years like there were not even invited to the Korean awards shows they attended, because of how everyone treated them like they didn't belong there. As a result of years of this, they circled their wagons and learned to lean on and rely on one another. Their relationships grew very closer for lack of most others in their circle. Even now they say they often have a hard time making friends because they are such a tight unit that people find them hard to approach. Their saving grace was ARMY. ARMY helped protect them and helped them grow and win awards and be seen, and in return, they have showered us with love and gratitude. They have written many songs directed to or about ARMY and are endlessly doing things to show their love and telling us how much we mean to them. It's 100% a mutual relationship, not just a one way fan worship of Idols on a pedestal. They also do feel that ARMY knows a hell of a lot about them, because they have been so open and candid in their music and their talk and writing with us. We've watched them grow up and seen so many of their weird quirks and traits. We have all sorts of inside jokes and stories with them, not just among fans, but that BTS is in on. They call us their best friends for life, a line they put in the fan song they put on Proof (For Youth.) They go on Livestreams all the time because they say they miss us. Jungkook likes to go live and get drunk and sing ARMY's karaoke requests. Even from the beginning, their writing team has consisted mostly of the rap line (RM, Suga, J-Hope) along with PDogg, their CEO Bang Sihyuk, Slow Rabbit, Supreme Boi, and a few others. If you wikipedia the albums, you will see the breakdown of who wrote each song and the influences behind them. Being a rock/punk fan myself, I was surprised at what a cohesive sound they could get with such a large writing team. I usually hate songs written by "committee" but BTS has such a tight team that it works well. Also, the vocal line definitely started contributing a lot of their own input after the first few years.

Very interesting topic from Bora, she does a lot of great work worth watching, and also eye opening. At 31:00 re the loneliness. Because they were outsiders within the K-Pop industry from the beginning, they had no friends but each other. That was the starting point, they were generally ignored by those in the industry. Even until today, Jin commented last year that people found it hard to get close to them as they had to focus on their careers in the early days as they had nothing (plus the severe hatred aimed at them since day 1) and later when they became famous. They were each others friend and support. So to a great extent their music life so far was restricted to few friendships, although they seem to have made a few close friends over the years while working and collabing with other artists. Their book just released 'Beyond the Story' gives more insight. Guys, by the way I think you tend to pause and discuss before listening to the full video commentary or point being made. Good reaction video. BTS is one an only. Many have tried to make another BTS and failed. What everyone fails to realize is that BTS is not just a group but they are family. They literally lived together for more than 10 years and their bond is just unexplainable. I just watched Suga's new episode kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a96WotZ8us3Qiqs.html, and they shared even more details of their journey that had me in tears. Once you learn their story and how hard they pushed to succeed, you just respect and love them even more. These guys love each other like brothers and are not jealous of each others success which sadly you see that happening in other groups. Suga has even mentioned how other idols have asked him how BTS does it to stay so close and supportive because they don't have that in their own group. This says a lot about who BTS is and how those on the outside even realize how close BTS is. People realize that BTS is family. 💜

No, they don't write everything. They got help from writers and producers of Hybe & BigHit like Pdogg, Slow Rabbit, Supreme Boy, etc.. Sometimes they accept help from outside writers and producers but all members contribute with the writing and/or producing. I think only the rappers have written and produced the whole song by themselves. But even they, have help from other writer/s and producers in some songs of their solo projects. As for the outfit and theme, they have an entire team to direct, design, decide about everything but BTS have a huge say of the matter whether they accept it or not and whether they wanted to improve the ideas. The members can't do it all. They are still human and considering their busy schedule plus the preparation period (learning the choreography, memorizing the lyrics, or making music, making the MVs or preparing for show and interviews) then the concerts and advertisements and fan meetings, etc. They have no more time to plan everything without any help from the team.

I think BoraCity was saying 'Go-Go' is 'metal' *thematically* due to its heavy criticism of trendiness & shallow materialism -- not in its sound I came to BTS as a lifelong alt-rock fan, and if 'Boy With Love' had been my first exposure to BTS I doubt I would have given them a second chance.... Luckily, my first BTS encounter wa s 'MIC Drop', and that song was something an alt-rock fan could appreciate due to the beat changes and the intriguing mix of singing and rapping, which IMO is similar to the vocal switches common in alt-rock songs between singing verses and then and growling/yelling the chorus Most of my top BTS songs are the 'harder' variety because I'm clearly drawn to that the same way I was drawn to alt-rock from my early teens: guitar riff songs like 'Boy In Luv', 'MORE', & 'War of Hormone'; and beat-heavy songs like most of BTS' rapline's work....But because I've come to really like the members of BTS as people, I expose myself to all their work and have also found fave songs I absolutely adore in their discography that are ballads/love songs (I will fight anyone who says they can't hear the emotion coming through in 'Heartbeat') because I appreciate beautiful melodies and vocals, not just hard beats

Music is international. American music is consumed by every culture that's why it's the biggest music industry in the world. I've been listening to music in Spanish since I was like 8. If it sounds good I'm listening no matter the language or genre. I'm also a huge punk/ rock fan but also love BTS. I also love broadway. So it's not that weird lol 💜

You have to keep in mind, this narrator represents most of pop-loving America! Most Americans had never even heard of BTS until their most pop-like songs were released: Dynamite, Butter and Boy With Luv. You’re thinking from a ‘heavy metal’ loving brain. Most people generally do not identify with hard rock …but they generally DO identify with pop. It wasn’t until these particular songs became big in America/the west that people started looking into their entire discography going back to 2013.

I really loved this reaction and was surprised by the bora city video. When she first dropped this I didn't watch it because I thought her claim was a crazy stretch too far. However, I decided to watch it with you guys and she ended up making some compelling points even though they aren't rock in the literal sense. Shout out to bora city and to you guys. Also, even though the band does write most of the songs or at least have a lot of input (especially the three rappers) they didn't write all of their songs. As examples, jung kook did not write his song that dropped last week, they also didn't write dynamite. I think Ed Sheeran and others wrote permission to dance. This makes sense though because these songs are in all English and much more pop. Also i think the lyrics to RM's persona really address what you are talking about with them connecting with the public as their stage persona and not having people see their true self and starting to lose the sense of self because of it. Powerful lyrics. I think that clip from john reeves about the crazy amazing live performance was one of the mama melon award performances i was telling you about. Pretty impressive. Again, fun reaction.

6:38 I’m in the same boat with her. I mainly listened to punk/hardcore and hip hop but have extremely eclectic taste in genres. My Spotify shuffle is a Where’s Waldo page of music. I pre-judged bts but after deciding to give them a proper and random listen a little before covid shutdowns, I fell in love with the group from “DNA” and it immediately spiraled from there. I just had a gut feeling they were capable of checking a lot of musical boxes and I was right! Talent snuffed out any hesitation for me. Sadly, it’s been difficult finding other popular K-pop groups that could keep my attention and interest as much as BTS has but that’s another topic…

10:41 to answer your question the boys have meetings with their team everytime they have a release and they discuss what they want according to the theme of the album that they choose and then the team moves according to what the members want. When they first started bang si hyuk/bang pd who was their executive producer and ceo of their label was overseeing a lot of the process with their very small team and the members was a part of that team. The members contributed more into the producing and writing and themes of their album but the execution was overseen by bang pd and his team. But as time went on the members contributed more and more with overseeing things including promotions for albums etc.. but throughout it all from the beginning The initial input/ starting point for anything was always from the members and then they let their team run with it and throughout the process the members tend to chip in with more suggestions here and there of what could be changed or added. If you watch their behind the scenes you can also see them monitoring and making suggestions even on music videos. Even their promotional material they tend to oversee, especially for solo projects, same thing goes for stage performances and choreography. They have a team and they work with the team to make their visions come true. They don't micromanage anything and they trust their company to find the right people for the job. I hope this answered some of your questions. You can always watch the jhope documentary, the suga road to d-day and other behind the scenes documentaries to see more but the gist it what I wrote here. They have the final say in all of it.

If you watch J Hope’s “ making” of JITB Lollapalooza video, you’ll see that he had say-so on changes that he wanted made, by himself. Of course, he had crew around to make this show happen, but I wasn’t even aware how much BTS takes in the responsibility of putting on a fantastic show. Hobi lost 10 pounds due to stress during the preparation of JITB. Maybe he’s given a budget, idk, or not. But they feel the pressure of making a spectacular show, that’s what they do, that’s why they rose to the top. Bang Shiyuk even said that he did not put restrictions on BTS for their creativity.

i grew up listening to a lot of rock and hip hop and pop. theres megadeth and testament, bon jovi, poison, 311, incubus, blur, micheal jackson and whitney, mariah, nsync, salt n pepa, tlc, lenny kravitz. then run dmc did "walk this way" with aerosmith and i was blown. kpop blends multiple genres together and did it well. i love the diversity in bts music discography and those are just one of the things that made me stay as an army for 10 years. love your reaction

I feel like after becoming an ARMY and following BTS's message I, like many others, have bevome a better person and it makes me question why other fandoms and artists cant do the same.

BH has a team of creatives in support of their talents- choreographers, set designers, make up hair and clothing stylists. Lumpens is the director of most of their mvs. If i remember right, he is one of Bang Si-hyuk's uni friends, same with some of their crews. They do recruit other directors/people they like to work with esp in set and stage designs during concerts and perfs..

Hey guy in white cap, fyi, other countries besides the US have had access to different kinds of music. There ARE music stores selling vinyl records, music tapes & CDs. So, they HAVE heard classics, disco, pop, rock, hard rock, metal, funky, R&B, rap etc kinds of music. As long as the country has access to transportation like boats & airplanes, music can definitely be introduced to a country. With radio,TV, & internet people have more access music.

I have always been a rock and metal fan too, became ARMY in 2020. BTS does not create 100% of their songs. They are heavily involved, but they do have other writers, producers, stylists, graphic designers etc. Same with their MV'S and performances. BigHit /Hybe has a massive number of staff.

I like what you said about other artists that might donate to charity for popularity or tax write-offs. It's also because they mention that they did that. BTS donates to charities often but never mentions it. (as far as I am aware)

every part of it is competition. Who has the best melody for this part, who has the best verse for here, who sounds the best singing this part, etc etc. They have sooooooooooooooooooooooo many versions on their songs because of this.

BTS concerts have teams behind them but it is very vital for them to have a say in every aspect of the production. As for their solo projects, each member have liberty to what they gonna do of their music and promotions. Like JHope for instance, he chose to be hands-on to his last album from the start to finish of the promotions.

When BTS practices their music, they sing while they’re on a treadmill, that’s how they condition their lungs and discipline their voice for these dance routines. BTS listens to everything, all genres. They do dance routines to Limp Biskit, Kriz Kaliko, and others. J-Hope is the most rock oriented of the seven. His LollaPalooza performance with his Jack in the Box album featured in this concert is HARD! The band was American and they were amazing! BTS are connoisseurs of all music. They are still learning English and it’s a process for them to excel in all genres, ROCK is an American thing, which they love. South Korea has great musicians, as well, that can play over-the-top rock music. Once they become fluent in English, there is no stopping them! By the way, their Backup Band called "The GHOST Band" the band sounds great n they are also behind the scene. They have great productions.

They're cheeky, intense, and unapologetic. I'm a long-time hard rock and classic rock fan, and Boy with Luv did catch my eye-tho it didn't make me a fan. It's unapologetically pop and pink, and for some odd reason it reminded me of Hole/Cyndi Lauper/The Darkness-and I ate the theatrics up. It makes absolutely no sense, I can't explain it. And Go Go's playfulness reminds me of Green Day. Even now, Jin's songs remind me of Stevie Nicks, and I don't know why, but I've accepted that that's oddly how I feel. The songs that made me ARMY are Black Swan and Dionysus... And then I found their heavier music. I wasn't much a hip-hop or r&b fan, but my playlist now is mostly composed of just BTS. My most played now are J-hope, Suga, RM, and Jin. Also, I'm Southeast Asian, and yes, we grew up to Korn, Slipknot, Disturbed, Iron Maiden, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, etc. Before I found BTS, my most played artists were Queens of the Stone Age and Led Zeppelin. My genres were hard rock, indie rock, brit rock, classic rock, and metal rock. Now I have them all in one playlist with BTS. 😅 My favorite BTS stadium performance is IDOL. Just once, I'd like to hear that stadium mix live.

BTS have done extreme training to do the dancing and singing at the same time. They run on treadmills and sing, even wearing specific masks then running and taking off the mask and singing

As someone who grew up listwning to other genres but mostly rick I agree with her points so much! Even me tgat I like the pop fun bops and I knew some kpop songs years before I became an army in 2016, I have to admit that BTS really surprised me not only with their versatility but also with their deep lyrics, concepts and mostly bc of their strong artistic identity. Youu can feel those emotions through their voices in the studio version which is amazing and They perform with SO much passion . BTS' live performances are always better than the studio version no matter where they are performing and I think not a lot of artists can do that. So 🔥👏🏻

En mi caso nunca creì que me llegara a gustar el rap, es algo que nunca escuchè en mis 29 años de vida. Me gustan màs las baladas y empecè siguiendo a Ss 501muy tarde por el 2009 y tiempo despuès el grupo se separò. Comencè a escuchar distintos grupos de kpop y en 2014 conocì a BTS, me parecìa ùnicos no me volvì fan de inmediato, en 2015 con el album THE MOST BEATIFUL MOMENT o HHYY es que recièn investiguè sobre ellos y me interesaron demasiado los temas en que basaron sus canciones. Es mi àlbum favorito y le tengo especial cariño porque gracias a èl comenzè a sumergirme en el BU. Creo que cada persona llegò a BTS por algùn motivo especial, yo me conecte con su mùsica ya que me trajo paz en momentos difìciles, junto con mi hermana gemela los amamos demasiado. Mi hermana falleciò este año a causa del càncer y se alegraba un poco escuchàndolos en esos momentos tan dìficiles, y escucharlos ahora me reconforta mucho. Han estado presentes en mi vida en mucho momentos importantes y no me siento sola ya sea viendo un viendo de ello(RUN BTS) que me haga reìr o escuchando sus canciones. Soy fan ya 8 años de ellos junto con mi hermana, ahora sin ella sè que no me sentirè sola por la mùsica de BTS es una parte de los lazos que me unirà para siempre con ella. 10:40 they have a team for all that. That's one advantage of having a company like hybe/bighit 😅. They do go into planning stages with the team and give inputs where necessary but most ideating and conceptualizing for sets, costume, hair & make up, choreography are done by other professionals.

Well JK was especially fond of Linkin Park in his early years of the band and Suga's friends with The Rose's leader (rock/indie korean band) and even made a collab with him for his album, plus their love for Coldplay.

Well they do have a team with them, but the team isn't BEHIND THEM, they are WITH THEM. The members are apart of said team.
