A playthrough of the LEGO Rock Raiders custom level "Karnanga", a map made by addictgamer (@additcgamerreal) 2010.
The map is replacement for Rocky Horror, consisting of a vast maze of caverns and lava to traverse while blocking erosion and avoiding landslides, monsters, and slugs. The level's objective is to collect 160 crystals. A number of bugs in the map were fixed before playing, including random open caverns and an issue where energy crystals didn't spawn (thanks to bad PTL file editing - they basically control the logic of a level, it's complicated and weird).
Review: Holy shit this level is brutal. This ended up being the first time I really had to retry a level over and over. And that was after I had to fix a lot of problems it had like random open caverns and broken CryOre spawning. Not to mention that it kept crashing, even though so far OpenLRR has fixed most crashes in this game. Ignoring all that though... I really just did not enjoy it, it was so brutal trying to manage fast erosion, continuous landslides (apparently to encourage laser use, despite lasers sucking by default and all the recharge seams getting eroded into), and hoards of monsters, not to mention that long tunnel of hard rock on the east side. There were also a number of caverns on the south side of the map that would be very difficult to access and didn't have enough resources to make it worthwhile. I feel like this level would be more fun in Manic Miners, where the Tunnel Transport is much more automatic and lasers are more powerful, but here it was just tedious.
Remember folks, harder does not automatically mean more fun, regardless of what Dwarf Fortress players say.
