Reaction to Dimash again. I don't really have too much to say during the performance with this one, cause there really isn't much to say. Even with the focus on vocal technique that I tend to have when listening to other singers I really can't find too much to talk about, cause Dimash's technique is second to none. He really is that good and I love listening to him.

Dimash was gifted with perfect pitch. So your analysis is very correct. Thank you for watching Dimash and reacting so well. Granted, Dimash makes it easy to do. Your comment about his singing reminded me of what one vocal coach said: "I cannot find anything about him to criticize so I will use him as an example of the proper way to sing." They all eventually do the same.

It was very impressive, he displayed amazing breath control and pitch accuracy there. Even more impressive considering how much it can trip up most singers to navigate their way down from high notes like that all the way back to their chest voice. I know I struggle with that massively, and Dimash made it look like child's play, haha.

Hi Gray. Totally agree with you on his lower register. I had a good giggle when one of the reactors (on hearing Dimash sing Love is like a dream, I think) said she just fell pregnant from his voice. I thought that was hilarious. As for the people giving you grief about how you pronounce his name......IGNORE IT. I'm just grateful that you're reacting to him and that you truly do appreciate his voice. Russians add the 'ov' at the end of his surname. The Kazakh way is is without the 'ov'. Thanks for reacting to this one. That last belt in one breath is insane. He's not perfect. There are some songs where you can hear he's tired or sick, and it affects his voice but even on his worst day, I can't complain. I guess that's what 21 years of daily training will do.

Thank you for such a kind comment Traci. His lower register is what stands out to me the most to be honest. Most singers with wide vocal ranges spend most of their time sitting in the high end doing flashy stuff, and their lower registers tend to be quite lackluster in comparison because of that, both technically and musically. Dimash is different, his voice is perfectly balanced and his lower range can grab my attention with his tone and expressiveness just as much as his higher register does, which is very unusual. I'd love to hear him sing some straight songs in a baritone singing range just to see what it sounds like by itself out of context away from his vocal acrobatics in the higher ranges. I think it would be interesting. And yeah he's got that kind of tone, not surprised some women respond like that, haha. Just watched an interview with his mother at the suggestion of another commenter and I was pleased to see she says his name almost like I do, haha. Slightly different emphasis, but it sounds the same for the most part. Please feel free to suggest some videos where Dimash is sounding a little off compared to normal. I reckon I could learn a lot from that, and I'd love to see what a bad vocal day is like for him as every singer has them sooner or later. They can be quite useful in determining weak points in a singer's technique, so I'd love to see how that affects a singer with Dimash's phenomenal technique. Cheers.

@@Grays_Plays hahhaha exactly. Well, this is what Dimash sounded like during the competition. I use this link because it shows the back story as well kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q753eZqnzKu9e58.html. Then there's one you simply HAVE to watch because there are no high acrobatics. It's called Махаббат бер маган (Give me love) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rtpmZ9CXp5maY4E.html And then there's the last song of his Arnau concert. You could hear he was tired, which I don't think anyone cared about. I think he'd been singing for more than 2.5 hrs straight, standing still (Ogni Pietra comes to mind) or bouncing around like the Energizer bunny with the faster songs. There are a few I can't remember off the top of my head, but the London concert comes to mind. He was sick here, but gave his absolute best instead of relying on playback to always sound good. However, when you bear in mind how big this young man is on philanthropy, you see past the flaws. I swear, time stands still while I'm watching him. I just know hubby's going to divorce me. Happy watching from South Africa

I've listened to mainly rock, metal and underground alternative since I was a kid, and when Dimash's SOS was in my suggestion feed, I thought I'd give it a go. I was sincerely blown away (and even cried... never did that happen before), so not only does he have impeccable vocal skills, but brings out emotions that I've personally never encountered. Love your reactions! It seems like overnight, everyone and their kitten were doing reaction videos, and it's cool to hear someone, like you, know what you're talking about!! 😀

Listening to Dimash is highlighting my own shortcomings as a singer, and I love that because that's why I started doing reaction videos as it's the best way to listen to singers with approaches that I'm not familiar with and that's the best way to learn. I spent so long chasing range because I wanted to sing all the cool classic rock stuff that I neglected to get the musicality and emotion down in my singing, and hearing a singer like Dimash who is equally good at both is very inspiring. And yeah, everyone does reactions now. I got put off the idea when they first started to take off because the change in the vocal coaching community overnight was a bit cringeworthy to see. They all instantly dropped doing vocal instruction videos in favour of putting on over the top personalities while watching other people's content and they clearly did it for easy views, which left a very bad taste in my mouth as far as reaction videos went. I felt like a hypocrite not liking them to be honest, because I love Let's Plays and I do a lot of them on my channel and they're more or less the same thing from a certain perspective, just with gaming content instead of music Thank you very much for the kind words, they mean a lot. I'd love to hear some of the rock bands you're into, as I'm always looking for new types to check out. I've spent too long playing old rock covers and I could do with brushing up on some more up to date bands to be honest, so feel free to suggest a few to give a look. Cheers for commenting. Take care.

I, on the other hand, hate rock, metal and underground. My favourites are classical masterpieces and operas, but when I heard Dimash sing "Le SOS d'un terrien en détresse" I became immediately a Dimash fan and addict to his singing. And I''ll stay that way till the end of my days. Dimash surpasses all and everything. Opera singers do great operas, but nobody has a range of six octaves, and -- what is more important -- none of them evokes any emotions in me; I never cry listening to an opera, but with Dimash singing I cry almost every time.

Yeah it was SOS, and thanks very much for subscribing. I know I'm taking my time with doing more reaction videos but I am gradually getting round to doing more of them and more music in general for my channel. Life's kept me from being quick about it unfortunately but it will happen. And that SOS performance is making me work on my whistle range, I'm determined to smooth it out and make it musically usable at some point. Probably gonna take a long time though as I've never really considered working on my whistle range before hearing Dimash, haha. And that technique is more or less just a full voice sound but in a range where most singers just don't have the efficiency of technique to get that high. Most that I tend to listen to top out somewhere around a G5, wheras Dimash is holding that A#5 like it's nothing. That kind of sound isn't too uncommon among the more gifted of high range singers you might find here on youtube if you go deliberately looking for them, but Dimash is displaying a brilliant amount of control and comfort with it compared to most. His breath control/release is amazing, and you can really tell by how accurate he is with those runs all the way down to his chest voice afterwards. Most of the singers I know that are capable of that are all from a rock context as that's what I tend to listen to. For a couple of examples I can think of off the top of my head feel free to check these out. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hcyWeZOWl86YhIk.html - 7:17 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pqplpbF1krTQoWQ.html - 0:48 Ignore the rest of the song, it's boring as hell, and to be honest the vocals themselves don't really don anything for me. Good example of some pretty amazing breath control and high notes though. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nsmKadx93dCpaIU.html - The high notes in the choruses here are kind of along those lines, but they're only just starting to get to that kind of range and they aren't sustained very long either. I have to point out that Tony Harnell (the singer here,) is legendary for his technique and range in rock circles and he never performed this song live as far as I'm aware most likely because of how much this song pushed him vocally, and given how much lower these high notes are than what Dimash can hit and sustain I think you can get a good idea of how rare Dimash's abilities are. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h56TgtGE1smyp58.html - 6:28 onwards he hits some notes in that range. Does it live in this clip too kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jLZ6grqVvZywZYE.html - 4:02 onwards kzfaq.info/get/bejne/apxydtOEr7Gtmqs.html - 0:18 Probably too high to count as it's a very different area of range, but this is the highest I've heard that kind of full "screamy" sound. Haven't heard it this high in anyone else to be honest Hope these are along the lines of what you're after. Feel free to clarify if I've gotten it wrong and you were on about something else. Thanks for the kind words.

@@Grays_Plays iam sorry I should've made it more clear . What I meant is not about that one particular sound, but what he did from that full chest belt to that high head voice that created the sound that what I called an "explotion". The transition was insane. I don't think I've ever heard someone done this before.
@Grays_Plays
@Grays_Plays 4 жыл бұрын
No worries. That was just a slide up through his range, nothing really fancy technically speaking there, other than the control and power he has in that range obviously. Like I said, very few singers can get that high in that kind of sound.

Thanks very much for the confidence mate, but SOS like Dimash did it is a league or two above what I can attempt, haha. Most of it I could manage, (not saying I'd sound good doing it mind you,) but the whistle voice notes at the end are a bit beyond me technically. I've never had much motivation to work on my whistle voice much, so even though I can hit the odd note up there, sustaining and actually singing in that range is something I'm not really capable of. Definitely going to be working on my whistle voice when I get back to practicing on a regular basis though, Dimash has made it sound like it's worth bothering with for me, haha. If I start to make some progress then I'll give SOS a go for sure, as it's a wonderful song and I'd love to be able to at least attempt to cover it.

I've seen some off days/songs from Dimash but they were either when he was sick or was doing 2 or 3 hr (even 3.5 hrs in one case) concerts of almost non-stop singing. Most of his songs are technically quite high-difficulty songs to get right from start to end even if performing just a couple songs for the night, nevermind singing for hours. To say he impresses me is an understatement.

Would love to see some of what you might consider his worst performances. Feel free to share the titles or links for the videos as it's always interesting to see a singer's worst nights, because they all have them and it's cool to see how well their voice still holds up. And you're quite right, most of his songs are already at a difficult standard to manage even as one offs, let alone his rather grueling performing schedule. It takes nothing away from him at all that he might have the odd off day here and there.

What is extremely mind-blowing about Dimash is that he keeps improving. The low notes keep getting richer and those high notes keep getting brighter. I've never seen anything like it. His voice is still maturing. Give it another 10? years for his voice to be as mature as Freddie's..... as much as I love Freddie or any other vocalist on the planet, it's a "no contest". Just out of curiosity since you are a rocker, if you had to pick a song for Dimash to break in to the hard rock genre... what song would it be? My pick is "Take Hold of the Flame" by Queensryche. Dimash would murder it.❤
@Grays_Plays
@Grays_Plays 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, he's still really young so he's got a while before he hits his peak I think. And I agree, it isn't a contest. Most rock singers have ranges that they shy away from a bit live, (Freddie as an example really struggled above A4 in full voice live in most of his live clips I've seen,) but Dimash is nailing everything. I really do need to find some live bootlegs of whole shows some when so I can make a more fair comparison, but he is quite freaky with how consistent he is. And personally I think She's Gone by Steelheart would really really suit him. His tone in that range would be different from most singers that cover it so it would be interesting to see. He'd have to add some higher notes to really show off though as his range far outranks the original, but it would be fascinating to see his take on it I think.

Hi, great reaction. His rendition of this song in his Moscow concert is better(for me at least). also in his Arnau concert last June 29. His voice was fuller & more mature. BTW, the guy one the keyboard as well as the bass are members of "A Studio", the original singers of the song.

100% agree with you , the Arnau version is better than this one and the Moscow version espicially the 4k close up fancam is probably his best performance to me .

I subscribed to your channel last month when the caption read "Rock singer reacts to Dimash"...Thank you for your technical reactions and your appreciation of Dimash's skills. We 'DEARS' LOVE him. He is also a wonderful person. Could you react to "Olimpico" (Ogni Pietra) in Arnau...the version he did at the opening of the European Olympics was not good because the acoustics were off in the arena and we didn't see him very much. And another favorite "KNOW"...Vocalize Broadcast TV...

Thanks very much, I'm very grateful for the sub. I massively appreciative of Dimash's skills, he's the first singer I've seen that makes me want to work on my highest registers, because he's actually using it in a tasteful way. Most singers with that kind of range are boring to watch, but Dimash really has something special. I'll give your suggestions a look as soon as I can. Thank you.

Gray, I like your commentary and agree with you fully. You are a knowledgeable singer and master also the theory. -- BTW, the gentleman in a white shirt, who was the first to stand up and applaud, was the eminent and prominent Russian Maestro Igor Krutoi. He "spotted" Dimash at that very moment and since then Dimash and Igor have co-operated producing a masterpiece after a masterpiece: "The Love of Tired Swans," "Mademoiselle Hyde," "Ascolta la voce" (Know), "Love Is Like a Dream," and "Ogni pietra."

So Ogni Pietra is the next Dimash song you should react to. It is so powerful and he spends a good amount of time in his bass and tenor registers. I'm a classically trained vocalist and I agree with you that Dimash is the best vocalist on the planet right now. I will go you one better and say that he is, as far as technicality the best vocalist of all time! He has set the bar so incredibly high at this point, it will be hard for anyone to even challenge him! I believe it will be some time before we discover another vocalist who can!

Thanks for the informed reaction! I have read that Dimash has absolute pitch. This, empowered by 20+ years of excellent voice training, surely accounts for his amazing pitch accuracy. "Diva Dance" is almost freakish in that respect.
