PERFECT. Thanks for the video. Lever had a metallic, grinding, stiff feeling. Started to take apart myself only to realize I was in over my head and could not get it back together. This explained perfectly. Also did not replace gaskets, just cleaned and lubricated all parts. Smooth as silk now!

I really appreciate the video. Even though I didn't replace the gasket, adding new lubrication made a total difference to the machine. I Totally love it! even better than brand new. I wanted to point out that I added tape around the screws to protect it while fixing it. Many thanks again.

Thanks for that tutorial...as others have mentioned, ours is only a few months old, and is a bit squeaky, so I think I’ll pull apart to at least check and re-lube. Great video.

Thanks for this video. My 7 year old Quickmill Vetrano was leaking badly out of the lever and this was the perfect video to walk me through the replacement of the gaskets. To get the mushroom nut back on against spring pressure, I slipped an extended socket over the shaft to apply even force with one hand while mating the treads and getting it started with the other. Much appreciated!

Hi. Thank you so much for the video. Have a Rocket Giotto and the lever starting squeaking after ~6 months and became more difficult to operate. Followed your guide and gave all the parts a good clean - they were pretty grungy. Reassembled (without any silicon gel) and it works like new - lever is smooth as silk.

I have a Rocket espresso Giotto from 2004 - water tank model/vibration pump - model with half moon pressure gauge. This machine has not been used for the last 14 years or so I turned the machine on and all appeared to be fine (I did not pull a shot) Then I checked steam wand (was fine) and then hot water nozzle and it was fine and the water was coming out of it but then after that the machine wanted to collect the water from the tank to the boiler which of course is normal But despite the noise (rather louder than I would expect knowing rockets) nothing was happening. It kept making noise and the pump was working but now water was collected and the sound did not stop until I turned the machine off. What could be wrong with the machine?

Hello from Bordeaux (France) Great video but zooming on cam position after greasing is fuzzy. I must specify that down valve must be pressed and top valve must be output. Thank you.

Correct after a shot, or sitting idle the drain valves on the bottom are held open. When the lever is lifted for brewing, the top brew valve is pushed up allowing access to the heat exchanger.

Hey John Brinkman, we've never had to remove the screw. If it's difficult to re-insert the cam we loosen the bottom valve assembly. But if it's inserted and the screw fits back in place then it should work normally. Thanks for the view and the comment.

Using an adjustable wrench might not work on Rocket machines (I own a R58) since they are thicker than a normal fixed wrench. The thickness makes it almost impossible to fit the wrenches both at the same time.

Thanks for the great guide! Really helps a lot to see someone else doing it before attempting myself. I battled to get the bar with the cam back in place until I removed the screw visible at 2:57, refitted the bar and then rotated it 180Deg. Is that ok? It looks like a grub screw to stop the cam from turning too much but just wanted to check,

This is a rookie question: I have backflushed my machine with detergent today, for the first time I own it. The lever started squeaking after 2 of 5 flushes but it disappeared again after the machine cooled down and I pulled the lever a few times. Is this normal? And when would be the time I definitely need to take it apart and grease the components? It's my first E61 machine and I am a little worried.

@@ISNIP3DOJ I own a Rocket Appartamento myself. During backflushing with cleanser (JoeGlo) it gets a bit stiff and sqeaked, but after a few clean water flushes after the backflushing it would stop. It wasn't until a couple years after owning it I had to remove the lever and apply lube, as it would be stiff and sqeaky even when not backflushing.

Sometimes the new machines will squeak since the machines are completely dry, this should go away shortly after you start using the machine. If the machine continues to squeak then some lubrication wouldn't hurt.

Great video, thanks. I just cleaned and re-lubed my Rocket. However, upon reassembly, the lever falls down a short distance when it is put in the full up/brew position. Did I reassemble incorrectly? I see now that you say that the lever should be installed in the preinfusion position...not sure if I did that...any thoughts? Otherwise, she's back working smoothly again. Do you sell the gasket and cam parts? I thinking I should buy a spare set for when it finally wears out.
@Espressotec
@Espressotec 10 жыл бұрын
A worn gasket, worn cam, or over lubrication could cause that. If after some use the lever still falls then I would suggesting both the cam and the gaskets available on our online store (SKU: 5262 & 1281)

Espressotec Thanks! Do you have a part number for the "main part" (26mm wrench) you remove at 1:50 in the video? Mine's a bit buggered up, so I'm thinking of replacing that too. Any recommendations on lube to use? Cheers!

bschena Unfortunately we do not sell the other parts online and only stock them for repairs. As for lube, most high temperature food safe grade lubricant should be fine.

David: Great video. I followed the video to the letter (or so I thought) on my ECM Giotto, but when I reassembled, for some reason the handle does not go to a vertical down position. Looking at the handle from the side, it appears to be at a 7:00 or 7:30 position (on a clock dial). I'm not sure what the issue is. Do you have any ideas?
@Espressotec
@Espressotec 10 жыл бұрын
When re-inserting the lever shaft, the cam at the end will have to depress both upper and lower drain valves. I'd suggest re-assembling and after a few attempts the cam should be sitting against the grouphead.

Thank you. I think when I have inserted it out was only depressing the lower valve. That makes sense to me now.

Mike DeGraaf When the lever is vertical it will only press the lower valve but as it if lifted up, it will start to depress the upper valve only. www.home-barista.com/espresso-machines/e61-group-espresso-machine-detailed-interior-schematics-t397.html

My e61 brew lever won't stay in the "Off" position (vertical). When I turn it down it springs back to just before middle position, about 20-30 degrees back out towards me. It has done this a couple of times and then the problem went away. But now it can't stay locked. Do you have any ideas as to what the problem might be? And thanks for the instructional videos, a really great initiative : )

@esbenrasmussen4289
@esbenrasmussen4289 8 жыл бұрын
you need to replace the cam lever and maybe also the 3 valves inside. Until you do that you might fix it by back flushing with detergent, but this will keep the metal grinding away at the worn edges so YMMV and it might not be healthy for the machine, although I doubt it would make problems for after the replacement
