I find assuming the interviewer is my friend makes me be more authentic & honest instead of sounding like a politician. It also helped me explain why I truly wanted to work there and we ended up having a full conversation about that:) Thanks for the video.

I had never heard of the airport test before. I thought it was going to be about, how to see if having a layover in an airport would be good or not. lol

I think having a hobby or expertise to talk about outside of your work responsibilities is good for this. If you're a fan of craft beer or fine bourbon or something you can do (drink) and talk about casually at an airport it would probably be good. And if consultants are anything like sales people, they love to drink and sure makes it easier to talk to people after a few!

Where did you get those pictures directly behind you in most videos? I work in logistics and would love to have them in the home office!

I think most people think this is totally benign. Perhaps in a world where one assumes that everyone will meet their connection in an equivalent job such that no one will be held back economically on account of “soft” factors having nothing to do with their ability to do the job, it is. However, because nearly everyone uses some version of this test in their hiring, entire classes of totally capable people with psychological disabilities such as more acute anxiety or neurological conditions such as autism are frozen out of job after job. The end result is told in some pretty dreadful employment and income statistics for those populations which are wildly incongruous with their training and education.

Does it mean introverts are not a good fit for consultant role?
@havek23
@havek23 6 жыл бұрын
I think it depends, I'm very introverted when it comes to my private life and don't like going to clubs or meeting new people for friendship sake. But networking and talking to people at work events and drinking a few beers with people in the same industry as me is very different because they're not random strangers/weirdos... you already have work and your company's industry to relate to them with.

No, not at all. While being an extrovert might make it natural to chat a lot, it's less about being chatty and rather about being someone dynamic, curious and interesting to engage with. I'm in the middle of the introvert / extrovert scale and I find that I'm most extroverted when discussing things I'm passionate about... so if you're more introverted that's fine, there are probably still plenty of ways to engage which would still stand out in a positive way.

It is not like introverts do not like to talk. They just prefer meaningful and interesting discussions over small talk. This is where I find consultant position very fitting as you will be surrounded by passionate professionals who most likely share same interests as you do. Compare this to coffee room discussions in more traditional 9-5 jobs... ;)

@@rocketblocks you might want to check my comment above replying to Daniel Falcao. How does a 3-month summer consultant role at BCG qualify you to be creating these videos and speaking as an "expert" when your stint was that short. Why don't you focus on the great role for example you had with Flurry?
